"A worthy cause?" Marola laughed at the phrase. "You think a man who would kill a seven-year-old girl's father before her very eyes would do anything worthy? No. The only thing Brom is worthy of is being gutted like a fish and eaten by a Ra'zac!" She paused for a moment to catch her breath. "Eragon was Brom's apprentice, and he is the Varden's first and main Rider. I tell you, I will kill him, even if it must be done with my bare hands! My father was a the best man who ever lived, the most--" She paused again to compose herself, then continued more softly. "He was the most loving man in my life; the only man I've ever truly cared for, and Brom" she spat out the name, "tore him away from me. He may be dead, but his legacy lives on and it shall be destroyed." She spoke calmly and made no aggresive moves, but in her aqua green eyes, a furious hatred burned.

Murtagh was taken back by Marola's rage. He was still weary of her when she started speaking in a softer tone. "Morzan was not 'loving' to me. To me, he was an evil, cold hearted, twisted man who loved nothing more than other peoples pain. Even the pain of his own son was nothing to him. I have the scar as a reminder of what kind of man he was." Murtagh said. He took a few steps away from Marola and started to pace back and forth. It was all becoming too much for him, he not long ago found out that Eragon was his brother, now he has a sister also. And whats worse, a sister devoted to killing his brother, and living up to their fathers evil name. Murtagh stopped pacing and stood in front of Marola. "Brom never did anything so good, as to kill Morzan." He said to her through gritted teeth. "Believe me though, I will help you destroy the Varden. But I will not let you destroy Eragon." Murtagh said, his voice rising a little higher than he intended.

Marola took a step back and watched Murtagh pace back and forth with her arms crossed. He seems to be letting his anger get the best of him, she remarked to Rauthr. Aye, the green dragon replied, And foolishly, too. It seems he never recieved proper assassin training. Yes, one of the first things you learn in any assassin training is to never heed your emotions; otherwise, you may find yourself being merciful. "Maybe the reason he loved you not was because he cared nothing for your mother," she stated coolly. "He loved my mother with every fiber of his being. He was absolutely crushed when she died. It threw him into a mad depression, even worse than when his dragon lost his name. I believe the only reason he went on living was to make sure I was cared for. He showed his love for me the only way he knew how: by teaching me how to defend myself. He taught me to fight with the very sword that now rests at your side. "As for killing my killing your 'brother,' I shall kill him, then you must, by this foolish oath you have just made, kill me. Though I doubt you will be very sucessful. I have been trained quite well."

Murtagh starred at Marola out of the corner of his eye. A crude smile touching his lips. "Morzan did not love my mother, I know that. He only used her to do his evil deeds." Murtagh continued pacing listening to Marola as he went. "I think, as a team, we would crush the Varden. But mark my words." He pointed a finger at Marola. "You will have me to answer to if you harm Eragon, and I will get my revenge." Murtagh slowly lowered his arm and placed his hand on Zar'roc's hilt. Thorn flicked his tongue out and tasted the air in the green dragons direction. Being a dragon rider seems to run in your family. Thorn said so that the three of them could hear. Murtagh let out a humorless laugh. "An unfortunate inheritance I think." He said looking up at Thorn

Marola smiled slightly. "Unfortunate, huh? What do you say to that, Rauthr?" she asked. Misfortunate would have completed the irony of his statement. Rauthr replied, playing around with his name. "Though I would not call you misfortunate. Perhaps I did when I first stole you from the Varden, but no longer." She turned her attention to Murtagh. "Perhaps we will make a good team, brother. And maybe if you ever succeed in convince Eragon to join us he would make a good addition." Her smile grew a little. "Having him on the side of the Empire would also destroy Brom's legacy. All right, if he defects, I will not kill him." Her eyes harded slightly. "Note that I said 'if.'"

"If there is one thing I learnt from Eragon, its that when he sets his mind to something, he follows it through. He will not leave the Varden to join the Empire. The only way to get him to do that, would be by force." Murtagh said to Marola, hating the statement even more now that he had voiced it out loud. Perhaps we should see the King. Thorn said to Murtagh unexpectanly. Murtagh looked up to the red dragon. Why would we want to see the King? Murtagh asked Thorn. Thorn lowered his head so that he was looking at Murtagh out of one of his red eyes. Because the runner you sent is coming back and I would think that the King would want to see us. Thorn said. Murtagh concentrated on the minds of the people around him and noticed that the boy was indeed coming back. " Please excuse us sister, but the King needs to see us. Unless you would like to come with?" Murtagh said to Marola in a sarcastic tone.

Marola gave Murtagh a fake smile which resembled a smirk. "Dear brother," she said, matching his sarcasm, knowing that he would never truly think of her as his sister, nor she her brother, "I have my own orders given by the king, I just thought you may like to know that you have other living relations. I have thoroughly enjoyed our talk, and look forward to many more in the future." She drew the hood of her cloak over her head and turned on her heel as large raindrops began to fall out of the sky. That went well, Rauthr commented to her. I expected as much. I highly doubt we will ever be as...affectionate as most brothers and sisters are, but at least now he has this burden to bear as well as I. She walked down the street, disappearing in a crowd of people on their way to shelter themselves from the rain.

(ooc: if you don't want me to post here just delete this post or send me a pm and I will delete it.)
Balthazar walked through the streets as the rain fell heavy on his tunic. He looked up at the sky and sighed, casting out his mind to find his dragon Silva.
I hate the rain, it always reminds me of that damned Elesmera and my being outcast from the rest of the elves.
He felt Silva's mind touch his and she laughed. I would think you would be happy to be cast away from them...if not for that you and I would never be together.
You speak wisely as usual, but it still sickens me the reason the cast me out was for being more clever then that damned women.
Silva laughed again and Balthazar turned his attention to a girl that he knew as Marola from hearing of her throughout the empire and her dragon, the dragons name he had no idea.
"Hello there friend, what brings you to this place. I am on my way to see an old friend personally." said the elf as he approached the girl with a friendly look on his face.

OOC: it's fine. This was just made so Marola and Murtagh could officially meet. lol, they've heard of Rola throughout the Empire, huh? I guess it's hard to be a secret agent assassin when you have a dragon. lol!
Marola looked up from her thoughts at the sound of a man's voice. She saw that it was an elf. Now that's strange, she thought, staring at him, Most of the elves in the Empire do everything possible to hide that they are not human...yet this one stands in Uru'baen, not concealing anything. Perhaps the king captured him and pressed him into service, Rauthr suggested. Perhaps... "I happen to live in Uru'baen," she answered him, crossing her arms, "when the king has not sent me anywhere. And what friend would an elf have in the capital of the Empire that he would wish to visit?"

"Why king Galbatorix of course. I have new information that may help him to invade Elesmera. And after I visit with him I need to pick up some supplies for myself and for Silva. You are certainly lucky to live her. I myself live Teirm, but I think things are much more exciting here in the capitol."
Balthazar placed his hand on the top of his sword Despair's hilt and rested it there for a second while he waited for Marola to respond to his answer. He knew that she would find it extremely odd that he was not only loyal to the king and called him a friend but that he was helping the king destroy the rest of the elves.

Marola was amazed at the elf's casual statements, but let none of her astonishment show on her face. "Exciting...that's one word for it," she said. She really didn't care much for Uru'baen. She would never call it her home. Her only home had been Gil'ead growing up in Morzan's mansion there. But she hadn't been there in years. It was too painful to return, for it would remind her of watching her father die. Murtagh's view of my father has distorted. He was the best man that ever lived. Her mind returned to what she was saying to the elf. "I wouldn't think of calling it that. Most of the time it's fairly boring, actually. Every once in a while something will happen. But the adventure is in the world outside. I never get more excitement than when I am out on a mission for the king."

(ooc: sorry its been so long sense I posted, I have been ill.)
Balthazar was both excited at hearing that this girl had so much respect for the king and a bit offended that she would never call Uru'baen her home, but just as she had done he let none of his feelings show on his face.
"You seem unusually loyal to the great king. This pleases me for he is the best human I have ever met without a doubt. The only man I ever met that was his equal in any aspect was a man named Brom. He was a wise man, and though he could never hope to match the king in a contest of magic or the sword, he was just as wise. I admit he did have different views then we of the empire but he backed them up with well thought out arguments and made his points known. Yes, Brom was a great man...but I still the the king is the best man overall that I have ever met."

"Brom was drajl, and you will never hear me praise him," Marola said in a flat voice. She grew angry at hearing anyone speak well of the man who murdered her father. But again, she let none of her anger show on her face, nor color her voice. "Had he not been stupid enough t get himself killed by the Ra'zac, I would have hunted him down and killed him myself." OOC: s'okay. Happens to the best of us.

"What did he do to make you hate him so.?"asked Balthazar, this time allowing a little of his wonder show through. "I met him once, long before the great king Galbatorix took his seat as the king. His dragon was splendid and he was a good and honest man."

Marola's eyes grew colder as she stared the man down. "How many good and honest men kill other men in front of their seven year old daughters?" she asked. "The best man who ever lived was my father. He was the only man I ever loved, and Brom killed him before my very eyes. I do not understand why you praise him so. He was the one who founded that gang of rebels known as the Varden. I have devoted myself to destroying them, and thus destroying Brom entirely."
