Kaylee watched as Daed fought his imaginary enemies. River looked from one person to the next on the field.
"They're going to get hurt," she said quietly.
"No they ain't," Kaylee said cheerfully, "The weapons are blunt, see? They can't get hurt."
"He's going to," River pointed out a man at the edge of the training field. He was fighting another man and seemed to be winning. Even as Kaylee and River watched, a sharp crack was heard throughout the training field and he fell on his side. The man he was fighting was yelling for help and apologizing. Kaylee ran over to see what the problem was. The man had a broken leg because the other had hit him too hard. Kaylee's eyes widened and she looked back at River, who was still sitting in the same spot with her eyes closed, as if she were concentrating on something.
