occ: Sorry its long just trying to set my character in.
Hiei was drinking a large cup of hot honey cider at a local tavern.It was his third day here and he wasn't fully trusted and he hardly left his tent.He noticed a young lady coming his way.She slided up to his seat and tried to look alluring."You want to come to my place big boy?" Hie almost laughed in her face for trying to appeal to his lack of height and use her obvious charms to take his money."Back the heck away," he replied coldly and taking a sip of his drink.She left angrily and a few minutes later she showed up with two large men. He shook his head when he noticed the hustle so often done in the Empire and wondered why he thought this place would be any different. The biggest started talking,"Well little man it seems you hurt this nice young lady's feelings and where goin to have to teach you show you why you don't do that." The other one laughed and cracked his heavy mailed fist.he still payed no intention to them but took a large gulp and finished his drink.He went to leave and the lackey went to grab Hiei's shoulder and said,"We ain't done talkin to you." Hiei twirled around and pinned the man's hand to the table and bent it backwards so it was close to braking and the man was on his knees."Hey you better let him go you little punk," the larger one yelled as he pulled out a axe strapped to his back.Hiei shook his head as if saddened and told him," You shouldn't have taken steel out."Suddenly screamed,"Thyrsta," and the man crashed through a window gasping for breath outside.Hiei jumped threw the broken window after him to the surprise of onlookers who either ran running or stayed to watch.The man got up to his feet when he regained control and attacked him.Hiei hopped into the air and threw a strong round house kick to the side of the guy's face.The guy viciously spent and fell not getting back up without medical help.Hiei looked at the man shrugged his shoulders and walked down the nearby street.

River stood down the street a bit, watching the interaction between Hiei and the big men. She walked slowly toward the fallen man. He looked up at her and stuck out his hand as if to ask her to help him up. She looked down at him.
"You're a liar and a thief," she told him, "and you like to hurt people." With that simple comment, she continued on her way, slowly following after Hiei. His mind felt strange. Full of pain and sadness, despite his toughness on the outside. She knew nothing of his small stature. She only knew of his pain and wanted to talk to him.

Hie opened his mind to sense if any guards or any fools who wanted to play hero and try to bring him down wee following him and was surprised to sense a female. He felt she had no ill intentions, but he wasn't alive because he trusted every person who seemed nice. He continued walking at a measured pace and turned into a small alley and waited for this surprise visitor.

River felt Hiei's intentions as the voice of his mind echoed through hers. Some louder minds came near and she tried to block them out, focusing only on Hiei's pain. She crept around the corner of the alley and walked toward the small half-elf. She stopped a few feet from him, looking curiously.
"You're in pain," she said simply.

"Not as much as you'll be in if you don't tell me why your following me," he snarled.He stared the girl up and down noting like most everyone else she was taller than him, but he knew he could finish her if need be.

River took no notice of his threat. She just continued to look at him curiously. His mind was so different from any of the others she had encountered. It wasn't dark, like the minds at the academy where she was tortured, but it wasn't full of light and happiness either. It was sad, and pained.
"You're sad because your dad beat you," she said, "and you're angry. You have a sad mind."

Hie flinched but regained himself.He puled out his blades and moved forward threatiningly."I don't care how you know this but you better not ever say that again.My problems are my problems."

River watched as Hiei took out a knife, not moving from where she was. She wanted to help him, to make his mind happier somehow.
"Bad people played with my mind," she told him, "They hurt me and broke me...and I can't be fixed. Now I can feel you being sad, and it's making me sad. I don't know what else they did to me." She rarely ever talked about what had happened to her, because it was such a painful memory. But she hoped that maybe if Hiei knew he wasn't the only one who was abused, maybe he would feel better.

"Well bad people didn't play with my mind bad people made it this way not just my pop." He sheathed his knife back into a bracer up his sleeve."Though if you can feel my sadness that must means you can enter my mind.I wouldn't try if I were you you'll find things in there you will want to forget but can't."

River looked sadly at Hiei, now as much out of her own sorrow as his.
"I can't help it," she told him, "Your mind talks to me, even if I don't want to hear it. There are so many things I would like to forget, but I know I never will. Things people want to keep secret but their minds tell me. So many voices in my mind." At the very thought of it, it seemed a flood of voices entered her mind, a confusion of endless muttering, shouting, babbling, emotions...all rushing through her. She let out a cry and started banging on the wall of a nearby building with both her fists.
"MAKE THEM STOP! STOP TALKING TO ME! I DON'T WANT TO KNOW! MAKE THEM STOP TALKING IN MY MIND!" She collapsed on the ground in a heap of tears, still murmuring to herself trying desparatly to sort out the confusion of the voices.

Hie looked from side to side to make sure no one saw this. He thought of a way to make this weird girl shut up.He enveloped her mind in his. He of course shielded a lot as to not show her the horrible things he has done and other secrets.Soon her mind was swallowed by little things about his life and his entire mind.

River sat on the ground, tears falling unnoticed. The voices were so loud, there was no way she could tell what she herself was thinking. Then one voice grew louder than all the others. It spoke to her gently, as if telling her a story, or parts of a story. Slowly, was the other noises quieted and the girl dried her tears. She looked up at Hiei.
"Thank you," she whispered, still shuddering from the loudness of the voices. They were all much quieter now, but they were still there, as they always were. But they were quiet enough so that she knew she was feeling gratitude for what Hiei just did for her.

Hiei gave a small smile and a nod of his head.He kept clouding her thoughts with his trying to keep it interesting without giving anything away.He started to mentally tell her elven stories about Kaylayn the betrayer elf, and other ones.

River smiled as Hiei showed her stories he knew from his life among the elves. She was particularly intrested in the story of Kaylayn. She listened intently to the tales of when he betrayed the elves, trying to understand why he did it. Then she heard a voice call her name.
"Simon?" she said, turning and looking out of the alleyway. Sure enough, there was her brother, looking anxiously through the streets.
"River! There you are! Don't ever run off on me like that. Come on." She glanced back and Hiei.
Bye, she told him.

Hiei saluted towards her and hoed into the air catching the rim of a building and hopping onto the roof. He ran from roof to roof until he got to his tent which was of course blocked by guards.He dropped down and yelled behind them,"Good day boys is there something I can help you with?" They turned around and the nearest ones grabbed his hands and pulled him away going to Nasuada's tent.He complied and didn't fight and when he reached her tent he he nodded his head towards her as his bow."May I ask why I'm here?"
