Tenel Ka felt the wind rush around her again, bringing with it thoughts of home. She couldn't help but think of the lovely crystal cities of the farthest northern reaches, or the beautiful rolling hills that dominated the rest of the land. "Yes, but I do not know what my home will be like when I return. It may be exactly how I left it, or it may have changed completely. If I return to find it changed, I will miss how it used to be. But I could try to forget it, and accepted what I have now. That way, it is less painful, and it really makes more sense, as well. To live in the past is to cling to something that is dead. We honor our dead, then let them go. We don't try to make them live again, that would be impossible."

Fayr turned suddenly totally betraying his normal slow and lackadaisical pace. He gave her a hard look as he slowly and thoroughly looked her up and down ingraining every detail of her body and clothes into his head. The color and brightness of her eyes to the position of her feet. After a couple minutes of his eyes boring all of her he stared into her eyes making sure she would hear everything he said. "I do not like the way you think. The way you think shows you are okay with pain and death even if you do not see it that way. If you are to accept how your home has changed that is just saying it wasn't good enough to fight for and that you don't truly care or love how it is now. I must say I had thought myself a good judge of character but if this is true I missed you by a long shot."

Tenel Ka bore his scrutiny without a flinch. Her grey eyes stared back into his with equal hardness. His judgment she took without question. "I have merely accepted the fact that things change," she told him when he finished. "I have accepted that people live, love, and then die. I have accepted that I am just as vunerable to this as anyone else. It's a little hard not to when you are born into a family in which most every aunt, cousin, sibling, even grandmother wants nothing more than to see you dead." She continued to look into his eyes. If he knew the fact that her country was ruled only by queens, then he would probably guess now what she was. Be careful, Princess, Caedus told her.

Fayr took her words and a smirk came upon his face. The girl was lose with her words. She was either royalty or someone of the government like he thought no hiding that now, but who was she? That was a mystery for another time though. " That still doesn't give you a reason to forget the things you loved or knew just because it might hurt you. That truly seem like the cowardly thing to do." Without thinking upon his actions he looked her in the eyes and put down his request. "If you will just give my view a chance I shall make an offer. I don't know much of the ancient language so I shall say it like this unless you can guide me with the other words. If you ever return home you can count on me and my blade to help you keep or return it to how you remember." He stared impassively wondering if his offer would be accepted. He didn't like how this women thought and he wanted to change it. Even Hiei the most hate filled person he knew remembered his past and kept those thoughts close.

Tenel Ka listened to his words in silence. She gazed up toward the sky as she thought over his words. "I cannot change how I think in an instant," she told him, "This has been bred within me since the first attempt on my life. However, if it will please you, I shall try." She sighed, not liking to submit herself to a stranger she just met. Her eyes fell to the rooftops and she suddenly had the urge to climb on top of them. The street was crowded now, and in the heat of the day she found it almost suffocating. She found a flower trellis nearby and climbed skillfully, despite her missing arm. When she was on the roof, she looked back down and Fayr. "Coming?" she asked him.

Fayr smiled gleefully as she agreed. He had won! While she might not change fully he had been able to get her to at least try. His mental victory dance ended as she asked him to come along after she climbed the tree skillfully. Well she doesn't let anything hinder her! He nodded and with a run he followed the same path she did though he weighed more than her the branched accepted him just like her. "Why wouldn't I?" He smiled as he hopped onto the rook his golden eye blazing along with his silver one.

She smiled slightly when he joined her, then gazed out at the sunset. There were some light clouds in the sky, painting the expanse in breath-taking shades of pink, orange, blue, and violet. There was something that never changed. No matter where she was, or what was happening, the sun always rose every morning and set every evening. She accepted that fact, knowing she was already starting to change a little.

Fayr followed her gaze and his eyes blazed even brighter as he set eyes upon the sunset. The colors always memorized him reminding him each time someone gave him a weird glance because of his eyes that they were more beautiful than the plain ones all other had. "The sunset is beautiful and I must say I can spend forever watching it, but shall we move along?" He tapped her on the shoulder encase she was one of those people who zoned out.

"What's the rush?" she asked him as she started walking along the rooftop. She watched the people below, who she knew were glancing up and muttering about the crazy girl Rider who like to walk on roofs. It gave her a vantage point over the rest of the city. She could see anyone doing anything. She often did this at home, partly to watch for any assassins moving against her or her parents.

Fayr laughed merrily at her words. "No rush at all! Just wanted to know if we were going to move or should I get comfortable?" As she walked and people talked Fayr knew it was time to have fun. He took out three daggers and started a little juggling as he walked after her. He loved drawing attention to himself even when it wasn't always good. "Hi people of the Varden and you others who live in this place!"

Tenel Ka watched as Fayr pulled out his daggers and started juggling them. Her eyebrow was slightly raised, but other than that, she let no emotion show. She glanced at the people in the street below. "Don't look at me, I have no idea who he is," she told them as she started walking again.

Fayr laughed even louder as Tenel denied knowing him and some people shouted at him. "You want more?" He laughed as he started to spin around the daggers being caught behind his back and his front as he juggled them. "Come one Tenel Ka! Join in on the fun!" He smiled his hair swinging around him as the dagger feel in perfect sync and he continued with his little display.

Andril roamed around untill she heard yelling. Who is that obnoxious fellow? asked Vanidor. I don't know. Maybe we should introduced ourselves. I did just escape prison. She stepped out into the open. "Hello."

Tenel Ka shook her head at him. "You're going to end up stabbing yourself and dying, and I'm not cleaning it up," she told him, watching him with her hand on her hip.

Not only is he obnoxious, but it seems that he may be suicidal. said Vanidor. Andril cracked up. She fell over and rolled on the ground laughing.
