Stefan hesitated at Cherilyn's heartfelt words as she was stepping into her cell. Galbatorix's hurts to him were more often mental than physical, though he knewthere were times when his life had been dangerously close to ending because of his defiance. Of course, he wasn't about to tell her about that. He could tell she had already been worried. He waited for her to continue inside so that, painfully as the act would be, he could lock the door behind her. He was completely caught off guard when she suddenly turned and embraced him tightly. He was dumbstruck for a moment, and something feebly resisted his reaction, but it shattered after a moment and he let go of all his restraints. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her just as tightly as she was holding him, and stroking her long hair. His eyes started prickling, and to his utter surprise, tears began to fall. He had never allowed himself to cry in another's presence, for any reason. But it seemed the natural thing to do; he was overjoyed to be with Cherilyn again, and he was sorrowful for their current predicament. At this moment, his life was defined by what he felt. "I missed you, too, Cherilyn," he told her. "The only thing that truly kept me going was the thought that I might be with you again, and things would be as they had been. I'm so sorry I put you in this situation, and I promise that once I get you out of here, you will never be in another like it. I know that because I would sooner die than see you harmed." All because I love you, he added in his thoughts, wanting to say it out loud, but afraid that this was too sudden for her. It was surely too sudden for him; he hardly even knew what he was thinking before he said it.

Cherilyn lingered in Stefan's arms. She felt so safe there, somehow it made her feel right. Stefan's voice took on a new edge, suddenly unguarded. Pulling back gently, she looked up at him and was surprised to see tears glistening in his eyes. She had never seen him reveal so much emotion. The sight made her feel even closer to him than before, even more determined to help him out of this situation. They lingered like that for a moment, and Cherilyn struggled for the right words to say that would bring him comfort. Words she wanted to say but was unsure if they would be reciprocated. Their silence was broken by distant footsteps. Startled, Cherilyn pulled back from Stefan and hurried back into her cell. She did not want Stefan to be in trouble by their embrace. Mustering her courage, she gave him a smile, then whispered, "We'll both be free of this." Because she would rather have a hundred harmful things befall her than see Stefan suffer under Galbatorix's imprisonment any longer.

Stefan would have remained there forever if he could; with Cherilyn the world seemed to right itself from the chaotic mess it had become. Contentment and peace he had never known before seemed to come from her. But the sound of footsteps forced the moment to pass as Cherilyn slipped into the cell and out of his reach. He gazed at her, amazed that she could still smile despite the situation. He locked the cell door and took a moment to compose himself. "I'll be back soon," he promised her. He hesitated a moment longer, then left to search for Saenon. It took him a long time to find her; he went through several floors and doubled back a few times before finally locating her with his thoughts. She was sitting in one of the courtyards, and appeared a bit startled when he approached. Though her expression was as icy as it ever was, Stefan saw something more there. Her eyes were red and there was a light, salty crust on her face from sun-dried tears. "What do you want?" she asked, her sharp voice betraying none of her emotions. "Galbatorix has need of you," Stefan replied. Saenon stood and quickly walked past him back into the castle, and Stefan followed after her as they returned to the throne room.

Jierda and Thrysta landed back onto the ground. Jierda got off Thrysta's back. Goodbye She said to Thrysta. I'm going back into the castle, you can do what you'd like. Alright said Thrysta. Jierda went back into the castle, walking along the dark hallways not knowing, or caring where she was going.

Galbatorix looked up when Stefan returned with Saenon. The boy was his most defiant servant. But in time he would learn... "Saenon," he began before either of them had the chance to bow. "Go to the dungeons and introduce yourself to our new captive. I want her to think of me as her new master. Until I discover her true name, you will have to ensure she stays weak. I do not want another escape." His eyes seemed to flicker at the last word. There had been far too many servants that had escaped him in the past.

Stefan felt a trembling fury at Galbatorix's words. He was not about to let Cherilyn be tortured. He glanced at Saenon, expecting to see a smug expression on her face, but all she did was incline her head and said, "As you wish." She turned and strode out of the room with her head high, her demeanor as proud as ever, but there was something missing to her usual behavior. Stefan didn't think much on it, but glared at Galbatorix before leaving the throne room. He had to get Cherilyn out tonight, before Saenon made her too weak to travel far. ~~~~~ Saenon made her way down to the dungeon slowly, her thoughts elsewhere. She nearly made it to the girl's cell before she stopped and shut her eyes. Damn it all, she thought to herself before turning around and leaving the dungeon.

Hearing footsteps drawing nearer and nearer, Cherilyn drew back a bit from the door of her prison. She was hoping for Stefan, yet she was aware that he would be kept from probably. Galbatorix would not want them having conversations about the Varden. Knowing this, she felt a sense of dread at the sound of feet. Was it Galbatorix himself coming to visit her. To punish her... Suddenly the feet stopped. After a moment, they withdrew. Cherilyn sighed, feeling a sense of relief. She slumped back against the back wall of her cell, holding a trembling hand to her forehead.

Stefan waited the endless hours for nightfall, running through his mind over and over again how he would release Cherilyn from this nightmare. He fretted every moment about what Saenon was doing to her. He was afraid he'd have to carry her out of the castle after the torture that woman would put her through. He thought on his escape plan for her, then revised it, then reconsidered again. When darkness finally covered the land, he left his quarters and made his way silently to the dungeon, cautiously watching for anyone observing him. Finally, he made it to Cherilyn's cell. "Cherilyn," he said in a half-whisper, still alert for any watchers. "I'm getting you out of here, right now."

In the tiny cell, the hours passed excruciatingly slow. Cherilyn eventually sat down, wrapping her arms around her knees. Somehow she even became tired, and drifted into a light sleep. She awoke easily at the sound of Stefan's voice. Scrambling to her feet, she went to the door and peered out at him. "Now?" she said, anxious. "Are you sure now is the best time, Stefan?" She really didn't want to leave him here, not until he was able to change his true name. She thought, perhaps foolishly, that she could help him with that. "I'm fine here. The only person who's come to see me is you, after all. I don't believe Galbatorix has any interest in me other than to keep me out of trouble." Until he discovers my own true name she added to herself with a shudder.

"Yes, now," Stefan told her, swinging the door open, "and don't you dare argue." He was about to reach for her to hurry her out when she mentioned that he was the only one who had seen her. He stopped and stared for a moment, trying to ascertain whether or not she was lying. Perhaps she didn't want him to worry about the torture she was going through. But, no...there was no sign of any such thing from her. "You mean...there has been no one down here? To check on you?" He was immediately suspicious. Perhaps Saenon knew what he was planning and was watching them right now, to stop them. He hesitated, but then decided it didn't matter. He could probably beat her in a fight if it came to it, and he had taken the time to learn how to see around most of her magic. He grabbed Cherilyn's hand and pulled her gently but strongly out of the cell. "I promised Cordelia that I would return you to her, and I intend to do just that."

It was clear that Stefan was set on getting her out of Uru'baen. Pulled along, Cherilyn shuffled out of the cell. She tried taking her hand back, but gave up after a second. "Are you sure you are not moving too hastily? I will return to Cordelia, but we must be careful about it." In truth she couldn't wait until she was reunited with her bond. Her mind felt uncomfortable without the constant presence of her dragon. It was strange how odd it felt to be alone again, her mind silent except with her own thoughts. But she was worried for Stefan, and would consider her escape something of a failure if he was not returning to the Varden with her.

Stefan gripped Cherilyn's hand a bit tighter as he led her around the dungeon and up a separate flight of stairs than usual "I have to get you out of here," he told her. "I can't let you go through the torture I went through when I was captured. I will not. I told you before, I would sooner die than see you hurt."

ooc: hope you don't mind me dropping in.
ic: Jaygon rounded a corner, his cloak concealing all his features and a hood covering his face so none could see it, thinking What am I doing here in the capitol of the Empire? Why do I have to rush to the aid of others when I sense someone is in danger? Similar thoughts seemed to encase him as he neared a separate stair case. Jaygon quickly turned his head hearing footsteps. Drawing his sword but keeping lax just to make sure no one attacked him on sight. He waited for the source of the footsteps with anxiety. Turma be wary you may need to get me out of here quickly he gave here a picture from his mind of where he would meet her.

It seemed Stefan was set on his decision to get her out today. Cherilyn ruefully let herself be pulled along. If they met with any guards, Stefan would have to do most of the fighting. She was without a weapon, excluding magic. When the reached the top of the staircase, they were met by a hooded figure holding a drawn sword. Cherilyn's eyes widened and her heart skipped a beat. They had been discovered! Thinking quickly, she began to struggle against Stefan. "No," she said in a frightened tone, "I will not go to Galbatorix!" She continued to struggle, hoping the act would fool the stranger, whoever he was.
