Jaygon and Turma, surprisingly, had survived the war with Galbatorix and had spent eight years afterwards cleansing Vroengard so that when the next generation arrived they would have a home. The next eight years were spent keeping the peace and preparing training exercises for the Riders that Eragon had taken away. Eragon was a smart and cunning Rider for his age, but not even he can teach the new Riders more than an Elder could. Jaygon sometimes found himself questioning Eragon's leadership, but he was not eager for the Riders to split in half again and as long as Eragon didn't ignore the counsel of those with more experience than him.
Jaygon and Turma were flying over a town the sunlight gleaming off of Turma's white scales. Jaygon wearing a cloak about him with his hood drawn over his face. There wasn't any wind to speak of and there was a calm atmosphere about them as if nothing could go wrong. Suddenly there was an explosion that racked the air from the town that was below them. "What in the world is that?" Jaygon wondered aloud. I don't know, but we should check it out I'll notify the others and tell them to be close by, Turma replied. "My thinking exactly," Jaygon said. Turma laughed in her dragon way expressing her amusement before she landed in the middle of town shaking the ground as she did. Jaygon jumped off her back, "I just hope we're not to late for a peaceful solution..."

Lorah watched gleefully from the top of a nearby building. "Now that's how you assasinate with stye!" She slipped away, blending in with the town's folk. A gigantic white dragon landed in the debre. Lorah scowled, this complecated things. She decided to leave her mark, then make a run for it. "Shishka!" She whispered, spreading her arms. A massive outline of a wolf's head appeared on the ground. People around whispered. Lorah had disapeared for eight years after the war was over, but now the assassin- She wolf- was back!

Jaygon got to scene, "What's this?" he asked seeing the huge wolf head outline on the ground. "Assassins are returning, just what we need," he said sarcastically. "This requires investigation. Turma could you..." Before he could finish Turma said, I already told our former students about our find and told them to be on their guard. "I always seem to forget that you know me so well," Jaygon laughed. He then turned around and addressed the people that were still standing around, "Go back to your business I promise that we will take care of everything." The crowd started to disperse when Jaygon got an idea. "Turma please call our former students here please I have an idea, but I'll need a hand," Turma instantly got what he meant and mentally sent the message to them.

Tia woke from her position in the tree. "Let's get moving guys!" She said to her wolf sister and mahogany-brown dragon. ***** Lorah crouched behind an abandoned bread stall. "What to do..." She whispered to herself. There was no way she could escape the city now.

Jaygon made all the preparations for his idea and told the local guards to look out for anyone suspicious trying to leave town. Then he waited for his former students to come. Saena ran into the town the blank panther greeted Jaygon by rubbing her head against his legs. Jaygon patted her head catching the fearful glances of the townsfolk. "Saena make sure you stay by my side the entire time we're here alright?" Jaygon asked. Saena nodded and Jaygon went right back to waiting for the others.

Lorah watched a strange man carefully step around the rubble. Hehe, he's scared. She thought, As he should be. ***** Nula crashed heavily in the courtyard. "Hi-ho everyone!" Tia cimbed down and helped Aela off Nula's back. "Not our most graceful landing, I'll admit." Tia waved and strode over. "So, what's up?"

"This," Jaygon said pointing the the outline of the wolf's head on the ground. "An assassin has returned to Alagaesia, and we're going to track her down." Jaygon walked around the wolf's head, "My idea needs three people. What we will do is use this symbol to pinpoint where this assassin is. The problem is to do that using something like this is very draining and so I needed a hand that's why I called on you two. I thought that maybe you two had begun to get a little bored so here's a little excitement."

"Yes! This oughta be fun!" Tia got a proper look at the emblem. "Someone's been fiddling with some bad juju." She whispered. Nula apologised to Jaygon. You'll have to forgive her, Ebrithil, she's in a very floaty, happy mood today. I don't think she has grasped the full meaning of the situation yet. Tia chose to ignore this comment. ***** "Oh Oah." Lorah backed away slowly. This wasn't good...

Jaygon laughed in good nature, "That's perfectly fine Nula, I've gotten used to it by now. Time to get down to business. We all need to open our minds for a second and search the symbol for a faint magic signature unique to every person. If we can find that then We'll have our assassin."

"Hey!" Tia said, hands on hips. ***** Lorah sat and twirled her hair. There was no hope now. Unless the rider was bluffing... She didn't get why everyone was against her. She collected a target, got rid of them, then collected her fee. Why was that so bad?

Gidion opened his mind as instructed and looked for the special magical signature. As he probed through the people he noticed that many of the people where magicians wether they knew it or not. "Sorry jaygon but I don't think that's going to get use any where maybe we sould do it the old fashion way intaragation time" Gidion said with a grin. **** Malcome saw the riders and wandered what they made of the situation or whether if they now what the wolf head means. "Well I best act normally or the'll think it was me" malcome said. So he walked it to an inn and sat near a window to keep an eye on things.

"I don't want to disrupt the townspeople. Alagaesia's relations with the riders are a bit rough right now, what with us being hoped up in a different land, and I don't want to make them any worse now there are only a few of us that come back from time to time," Jaygon said. He gazed at the wolf head, "This symbol seems familiar..." Jaygon opened his mind and searched the symbol for the signature. "Clever it seems as if the original signature is being eclipsed by a few others. It will take time to figure out who did it originally." Jaygon knelt on the ground beside the head, "I will give you the signatures of the people that I found, if you two would go and round them up then we might only have to interrogate a couple townspeople instead of all of them."

Lorah stood and strode off. Mabye she could get away with looking normal? Her egotistical side still thought she never looked anything but awesome, but ahh-well. ***** "Why not that one?" Tia said, watching the black 'n red haired woman walking across the street. "Where did she pop out from?" Nula nodded. sounds like a good idea...
