Tristan smirked. "I can't figure out its gender! And you haven't been quite helpful on the subjection either. I swear, my finger still hurts from when it bit me because I kept turning it over and around just to figure out some clue of its gender." His eyes went wide eye at her next proclamation. "You're WHAT?" He startled the dragon on his lap. She growled and wandered onto his pillow, annoyed that her sleep was momentarily interrupted. "You're going hunting with him!? For a several days?! ALONE!?" His eyes went wide at that thought. If his suspicions of Tenal Ka's feelings for Romulus were correct, and if Rom returned them, having them being alone together wasn't a good idea, in his opinion. "No no no..! Not ALONE! I forbid it! If you want to go hunting! Why can't you do it here...near the troops and their eyes!" He blabbered on and on about her staying in the open and not in closed places with a man.
*** Sidhion didn't know what to think. His mind was whirling from the closeness with Tismri. He couldn't tell what she was thinking, let alone feeling. He thought perhaps he spotted her confusion, but absently thought that was because she didn't know how to help her friend. He felt her hand leave his face, but her other hand remained on his. He considered her words for a moment, wondering about them, but desiring to close the gap between them completely. He unconsciously leaned forward, but within an inch of her lips he pulled back, having realized his action, and too soundly could recall her calling him "friend". "There is no remedy that can cure me." He slowly pulled away from her.

OOC: I can't stop laughing! Tristan's reaction...you'd think he was her dad or something!
Tenel Ka was a bit surprised at Tristan's sudden outburst, his words catching her off guard. "Yes, I am going hunting with Romulus," she told him. "And we will not be alone. I told you, Caedus is coming with us." She listened to his rambling for a few moments more, but when he said he forbid it, her temper nearly snapped. She waited for him to need to catch a breath. "And since when is it your place to forbid your queen from doing something?" she asked him quietly, calmly. Her gray eyes resembled threatening clouds about to spill out a storm, the only thing betraying her current anger. "I told you I am going. I asked you a question: can you watch the troops while I am gone? Or do I have to find someone else?" ~~~~~ Tismri felt herself stop breathing as Sidhion leaned closer to her. She didn't know what she was expecting, but sudden emotions and instincts took over that had not surfaced in her for a very long time. Everything seemed to stop for a moment as he paused, his lips so close to hers. His words fell upon her ears like hammerblows, as has he withdrew, the world suddenly felt lopsided, her mind dizzy. She found herself continuing to stare at him for a while, completely still. Then she stood. She was more confused that ever, and she felt the need to find her quill to write out her thoughts until she understood them. "There...there is a cure for you, dear Sidhion," she told him, still somewhat breathless. "And I will find it." She turned away from him and went to leave the barrier and return to her tent.

Tristan stopped midsentence as his instinctual radar sent him warning signs as he stared into Tenal Ka's stormy eyes. He gulped, knowing that it was best not to get on his cousin's bad side. But at the same time, he did not want her being alone with Romulus. "I wasn't forbiding my Queen! I was forbidding my cousin!" Tristan argued back, treading as carefully as possible. "Tenal Ka! You have placed Teodora and myself as your personal guards, and as such, we have a right to share out opinions and advice to you." He took a quick breath and began speaking again, just in case she slipped in her argument, "He's a man...and you're...well...a woman...alone...with a man...ALONE!...that's not safe! and and...who knows what Romulus' intentions are! I mean...who goes hunting these days?! There's plenty of food here!" He blabbered out, trying to find a sound argument. "If you really wish to go, then take myself or Teodora with you! so we can watch him at all times so he doesn't try anything fris---funny! So he doesn't try anything funny!"
*** Sidhion watched Tismri leave with unreadable eyes. Sighing to himself, he concluded that it was just best to mediate on the whole matter and to regain his offense. He had allowed his emotions to get the better of him and he knew emotions proved to be distractions. He didn't know how Tismri felt about him, and so, it was best to just try and burying his feelings for her again. It was better that way. That was his cure. To bury his emotions and to focus on bringing peace. He must find a way to gather Aeglaesia together...to take the Emeralds away from the Ismalian Queen...

Tenel Ka sat quietly and listened as Tristan continued to babble on, listening calmly as he tried to explain. Finally, she smiled slightly. "I am sure his intentions are nothing but honorable," she said. "Romulus is not the sort of man who would put his desires above what is right. Besides, if he does try anything, Caedus will just swallow him whole and bring me back unharmed. Is this agreeable with you?" She smirked, but then returned to being serious. "I didn't come here to ask your permission. I am going. You know as well as I how mad this place is driving me. I just need to be away for a while. Please, Tristan..."

Tristan huffed and crossed his arms, listening to Tenal Ka's words. Of course she was right! Romulus was far too noble to do anything. Stupid righteous moral man...that was one of the reasons that Tristan thought that Teodora might like him. Afterall, Rom treated women with respectful. Even with this information, Tristan still felt uncomfortable. "Does Caedus promise to roast him and swallow him whole if he tries anything with you?" Tristan asked, his features lighting a bit, signifying that Tenal Ka had gotten what she desired.
*** Having done his packing, Romulus hurried back to Tenal Ka's tent, excited to spend some time with her. He waited patiently outside her tent, especially since her guards didn't allow him to get too close this time. Apparently, they didn't appreciate him having his weapons with him this time. "Did I not sware that I would not harm her? We're just going out for a bit..." He muttered to them, hoping that Tenal Ka would appear to heel her soldiers off of him.

Tenel Ka waited for Tristan's answer. She was anxious to leave, but she didn't want to go with him angry at her about anything. She smiled in relief, giving a light laugh and hugging him when he finally gave his assent. "Thank you, Cousin," she told him. "And trust me, if Romulus tries to do anything Caedus does not like, he will roast him, toast him, and eat him." She kissed Tristand on the cheek before skipping off like a child back to her tent, where she found Rom already packed and waiting. "I will be out in just a couple of minutes, I promise," she told him as she darted into her tent. She packed several light sets of clothing and other items she might need on their trip. She wasn't sure of everything and found herself throwing in a few extra items just in case. Soon she was back outside, and smiled at Rom. "Are you ready to go?" she asked him excitedly.

"All right, go, go." Tristan waved her off, a bit sheepish when he kissed his cheek. "Have fun, eh? And don't you do anything rash, either!" He yelled after her as she skipped off. Once he was left alone with his dragon, Tristan's lips turned into a smile. He was happy that his cousin now fancied someone. He only hoped that Romulus would get the hint soon, but he better treat her with all the respect in the world and not try anything with her or Tristan would hack him into pieces!!!
*** Romulus' expression lit up when Tenal Ka appeared from Tristan's tent. He nodded as she rushed off to finish packing, his eyes smirking at the guards. "What is going on?" One of the guards muttered, wondering why the Queen Mother was packing. Where they going on a trip? If so, they must go as well! Tenal Ka appeared then, and Rom nodded. "Yes, I am brimmed with excitement! I cannot wait for our adventure together." "My Queen! Where are you going?!" The guards hovered around them. "We must go with you! Its not safe for you to be alone." "Especially with this man!" Another soldier added, all their eyes glaring at Romulus.

Caedus! Tenel Ka called to her dragon. He bounded over to her tent, waiting eagerly. He was just as excited to leave the camp for a while as she was. As she went to grab his saddle, she sighed in exasperation at the guards' demands. "Yes, we are going on a trip for a few days," she told them. She smirked slightly. "There is no way Caedus can carry four people at once." She went about strapping the saddle on--a slightly complicated task for someone missing an arm--and put her things the the saddle bags. Facing the guards again, she gave them a serious look, though some mirth remained behind her eye. "I will tell you what," she said. "If you can keep up with Caedus, you may come with us." With that, she turned to Rom and gestured to Caedus. "Come along, Romulus. We should get going while there is still daylight."

The guards gave a disappointed and aggravated glances at their Queen. There was no way they could keep up with a dragon! "But...but...you majesty!" One of them stammered, trying to figure out a way to get them to go with her, or to prevent her from going with Romulus.
Romulus nodded at Tenal Ka, signfiying that he was ready. He turned to the mighty dragon Caedus. "May I ride you Caedus?" He asked the dragon politely, knowing that some dragons did not like others beside their Rider upon them. His ears perked again as he heard the soldiers complaining about the Varden soldier going with the Queen unattended.
"Ah, leave them be. They have a special mission to accomplish and don't need you hovering about her like a parent." Tristan's voice echoed behind them. He was leaning against his tent pole, looking a bit exhausted. His hand was gently petting the young hatching in his arm like one would do with a baby kitten. He gave Tenal Ka a wink and then returned his attention to the guards. "Besides, I have an assignment for you." "Sire!" The guards saluted, finding that their Prince had an assignment for them. "Go and make sure the troops are well. With me being ill and the Queen on assignment, you four must be in charge of making sure the troops are being well fed and their weapons sharp. Can you do this?" "But what of you, sire? We cannot leave you be!" "I have Teodora and a camp full of my most loyal soldiers of all Ismalia. I will be fine." He turned his gaze back at his cousin. "Do try and have some fun while you are away, cousin." His eyes darted to Romulus, almost threatening. "And you....she better return safely or I'll personally maim you." Tristan's voice was even, but his eyes were dangerous. Knowing that he might have embarrassed his cousin, he quickly retreated back into his tent.

Caedus was pleased by Rom's manners. He knew Tenel Ka was starting to have feelings for the half-elf, and he wasn't sure how well he liked him. But he had always liked what he saw in the man; really, Princess could have made a worse choice in mate, so he approved. You may, the dragon replied to Rom. He turned and growled at the bickering soldiers, nearly roaring in frustration at their delay in keeping them from leaving. Luckily, they were saved by the appearance of Tristan and the hatchling bonded to him.
Tenel Ka gave a grateful glance to Tristan, glad that he had interfered with the soldiers' plots to keep her from leaving. She really hadn't been wanting to spend another hour or so convincing those stubborn mules to let her go alone. As she mounted Caedus, she heard Tristan give his warning to Rom, and she couldn't help but give a small glare at his retreating figure. She was glad he cared so much about her, but she didn't like his threats. Romulus didn't deserve them. "Come, Romulus," she called to him, "Let us leave before we are delayed any longer."

"Thank you, Caedus." Romulus replied, relieved that the great dragon allowed him to ride him. He rose an eyebrow then at Tristan's threatening words. He wasn't angry, but rather, amused. The words actually demonstrated how much Tristan love and adored his cousin. He wondered absently how to feel like that again. It had been so long since he felt his father's caring love for him. His meanderings were interrupted by Tenal Ka's pleasant voice. "Aye." He nodded to her and followed her up Caedus, situating himself behind the Queen, whilst taking note of her glare at Tristan's back. "Don't be cross with him, Tenal Ka. You are lucky to have people care for you so." Rom whispered in Tenal Ka's ear, his voice a bit envious of her.

Tenel Ka sighed as Rom spoke to her, still staring at Tristan's tent. "I know, and really he is one of the few who does truly care for me beyond that of loyalty to his queen. But I still wish he would not make such threats to those who do not deserve them." Beneath them, she felt Caedus rise, and move in such a way as to indicate his eminent take-off. She gripped the spike in front of her to stablize herself as he leapt into the air. The turquoise dragon circled the encampment several times before angling west toward the mountain chain known as the Spine.

Mammon coughed up a clot of blood, resurrection always hurt, but never this bad. "Perhaps it is time to find a new vessel to hold my soul." He thought as he stood to his feet. He glanced around the field where the battle had transpired, it was an erie thing waking up in a blood soaked, without any corpses. Mammon slowly got to his feet, he stumbled as he walked, he wasn't sure why though, perhaps it was due to the stick of drying blood, or maybe his legs being released from rigimortis's tight embrace, or maybe the elf was finally feeling age? All thise conclusions were doubtful at best, and his legs were the least of his worries presently at that present time he was standing in the middle of enemy territory, without Baal, and Freohr wasn't at his side. "What manner of trickery is this?" He thought before hearing steps approaching from his rear, he whirled around expecting an armed squad of Varden elite.
Fyrn watched her father awake from deaths embrace, he was weakened and Baal was still in no condition to fly anyone away from the battlegrounds yet. She watched her father stumble about for a bit before approaching him to guide him into the small outcropping she had fashioned into a temporary encampment. "Calm father, there will be no more harm to you I swear it." Fyrn reassured her father from behind her black mask. She watched as his expression soften "My daughter, what has happened?" He asked as he brushed her black hair away from her mask. She smiled, her father was the only one that loved her, and she loved him as well. Their life was harsh and unforgiving but her father had never once treated her as a lesser, for that she was forever grateful. "Come father, let me take you to safety." She told Mammon as she took him by the hand and led him towards her camp. For a moment she thought she had slipped by the the Varden undetected but that was false, her retreat was met with a swift "Halt." By some deep gruff voice.

"And what makes you think I don't deserve them?" Rom's voice asked Tenal Ka. "I tried to kill you, after all, not just a week pass...and...I promise, if i can help it, I'll never let anyone or anything harm you." He blushed, and was grateful that he was staring at her back than her face. "I think, I too, would threaten someone to keep you safe; you are very special." He grunted then, feeling Caedus take off. His arm instantly gripped Tenal Ka's waist to steady himself. His face flushed and he retreated his hand. "Sorry! I am still not use to flight." He apologized quickly to her, and placed his hands onto the back saddle straps to avoid any more embarrassing contact.
*** Tristan sighed. The two women he cared about were both gone. He laid down on his cot, and the little dragon curled on his stomach to sleep again. He was utterly bored now. "Teodora...where are you?" He whined, wishing that she would come back already. He had thought about going to look for her, but he hadn't realized how exhausted he was. He had only stepped to Tenal Ka's tent and outside, and was feeling quite tired already. He stared at the canvas above him, his thoughts drifting on how to propose to Teodora.

Tenel Ka felt some heat rush to her face as Rom's arm wrapped around her waist. Although she should have expected such contact from someone riding with her, it still caught her by surprise. However, she wouldn't have minded if he continued to hold her. "It's all right," she told him. "I would rather you hold onto me than somehow end up falling." Her mind drifted back to their earlier conversation. "You do not deserve those threats because it was not you who attacked me, Romulus." She turned so she could glanced back at him. "It was not your fault that Sidhion used you to get to me, and I am certain that you were fighting him as best you could." ~~~~~ Tismri wrote like mad on sheet after sheet of paper, trying to collect her thoughts and sort them out. She chased down one idea after another and come up with some sort of fallacy to disprove it. She could not find a way to satisfactorally explain Sidhion's behavior to herself, or how she had reacted to his closeness. Until she finally wrote down one theory. Sidhion is in love with me. She stared at the sentence. If it was true, it would explain not only his actions that day, but those of centuries past. She recalled times when they would be talking, and he would compliment her. Or he would begin to say something, only to be interrupted by another person. Or he would babble incoherently for some reason she could never understand. But if that were true, why did he never just tell her? Why did he allow her to leave for Ismalia without letting her know? Why did he never pursue her? These questions, only he could answer. Unless of course the statement she had written was false and she was simply unable to find the fallacy. She put the papers aside for a moment, staring at the wall of her tent. It would explain so much, but the idea caused even more confusion in her. After everything he had done, if he loved her, could she ever return his affections? She didn't know. But for now, she just wanted it confirmed. Standing, she strode out of the tent and returned to the field where Sidhion was being kept. She stood behind him, studying the elf for several long moments. Then she sat on the ground next to him. "Tell me the truth, Sidhion," she said gently. "And no more excuses. What is your desire?"
