Ferlan looked between the two of them, trying to calm his agitated spirit. "Thank you for your offer," he told Aren, "I come from a remote place in Du Weldenvarden, far from any of the cities therein. I...prefer to be alone." or I risk murdering everything in sight, he added silently.

"Ah. So would you like a ride? Or would you prefer to transport yourself there? Jamr doesn't mind carrying extra weight."

"I..." Ferlan started to say, but suddenly stopped when the Other screamed in his mind. ACCEPT!!!! Learn what you can about this dragon and Rider. Just look at the size of that dragon! He must be several centuries old! Ferlan put a hand to his head, as if he had a sudden headache, to try to silence the voice. "I think I would like to have a ride," he said.

Aren smiled, patting one of Jamr's large claws. Lean down, you big beast, so we can get up. Big beast?!?! That's not a way to get me to- Crouch! After many of Jamr's grumbles, he was finally low enough for them to get upon him. Aren waved to Raylain and K'laestn, Magnus and the mystery dragon, then jumped up to the saddle upon Jamr's back, waiting for Ferlan.

Ferlan climbed on Jamr's back and for an instant thought of Elianora. A wave of loneliness enveloped him. He wondered how she and Soranai were doing. I have to get rid of you, he told the Other with determination. He had to find his love again, he simply had to. Fethrfricai twittered in protest as Ferlan climbed on the dragon. "It's all right," he told her, reaching out a finger so she could land. He held her firmly in one hand so she wouldn't get tossed by the wind.

Jamr's mighty legs pushed off from the ground and his mile-long wings spread out away from his body. He flapped once and they were pushed up above the clouds. He used his tail to push them along, only having to flap his wings every once in a while. In one flap, they were five miles away than when they were a moment before. Aren smiled, the wind grabbing at his hair and brushing against his face, tickling his nose. This'll be a short trip, little ones.

Raylian waved as Aren and Jamr disappeared from sight. K'laestn roared, a booming sound that swayed the trees in front of him. He flapped his wings, knocking them into more trees. Then he landed on his feet and turned to the city. Sad thoughts passed from his mind to Raylian's, and she nodded. "Yes, it is a terrible thing, my friend," she said in the Ancient Language. "Do you sense any Eldunari? Though I doubt, if this place is in ruins, that any would remain. " The Silver dragon sniffed the air, and Raylian felt his mind searching. After a moment he lowered his head and shook it.
Raylian sighed. "As I thought. Well, dear friend, is there any purpose to stay?"
K'laestn did not respond immediately, but walked forward over the dead grass, treading carefully with his large frame. He swung his head left and right, using his sharp sight to view the extent of destruction. After several moments, he returned to Raylian and bent down. She smiled sadly and leaped onto his back. As I thought, dear heart. Shall we visit our kin?
Rumbling deep in his chest, K'laestn took flight, leaving the desolate city. We must return when duty allows, he said.
Aye.
**************
Flying as fast as may be, K'laestn caught up to Jamr after a couple of hours. He bellowed his arrival. Truly there is nothing left, Raylian said to Jamr and Aren. The one who ruined Alagaesia took all the Eldunari.

Ferlan rode of Jamr, looking silent and thoughtful. In reality, he was battling in his mind, fighting against the other. He felt his frustration build up and was ready to give up, when he felt it. No...NO! This can't be happening! Not while we're in the air! Fethrfricai recognized the symtoms of his darkness and twittered out a frantic warning. The evil in Ferlan took over and reached out to the bird, the two dragons, and the two Riders, intending to kill them all. Ferlan fought it with all his might, but it came on stronger than he expected. For a long time, it seemed as if neither would win. Then the darkness gained the upper hand, and Ferlan despaired, knowing that if the dragon fell, he too would die.

K'laestn felt the Evil, and growled. He turned his gigantic head to Ferlan and bared his teeth. The Evil, a presence few possessed, but K'laestn knew well. Better than Raylian. He resented this threat to his life, and to the partner-of-his-heart.
Raylian felt uneasy even from the distance needed to fly next to another Ancient Dragon. She directed K'laestn to angle lower. Should anything happen......... She didn't keep her eyes off of Ferlan while she waited.

Aren's eyes widened as he suddenly felt the presence of the Evil. Jamr growled and suddenly his wings faltered, making them lower about a thousand feet. Aren grimaced and turned around, glaring at Ferlan. "What's going on?"
