Cadyren was in the training area, where many elves came to practice their skills in swordsmanship or archery. Cadyren was practicing archery. He had decided that this would be a good chance to practice magic as well so he had cast a spell that caused his already keen eyes to become keener. So far he hadn't missed the target.
After awhile he grew bored of this and decided to engage in a duel. He began to search for an opponent. Every once in awhile he would ask Asaila, his dragon companion, who he should fight. She would always tell him she didn't know, for she knew little of swordplay.

Elyria walked through the training grounds. She listened to Domia chastising her within her mind for not training but she really didn't feel like it today. "Domia...it's the same thing every time. Same people, same styles. Nothing new." She continued to walk then stopped when she saw someone she didn't recognize.

Cadyren noticed a women looking at him, as if she were sizing him up.
<This looks to be a good opponent> he said to Asaila.
<Why? She could probably tear you apart.> she responded.
<I learn more from losing to a better opponent then from completely besting a pathetic person.> he countered.
Cadyren walked up to the woman,"Would you care for a duel?"

Elyria looked at the elf as he approached her. She smiled softly as she tilted her head slightly to the side. "I would welcome a duel." she told him as she continued to watch him. She pulled her sword from it's sheath and blocked the blade. Holding it up to her forehead, she closed her eyes briefly then lowered it, her head inclined to him as she took up her stance. "Whenever you are ready."

Cadyren cast the spell that created a barrier around his blade. He then lifted his sword and mentally planned his attack. After a moment he decided to probe at her defences and see how she reacted.
"Let's begin," he said as he swung at his opponet, aiming for her left side.

Elyria watched his eyes as she saw his sword swing to her left. She swung hers up to block it, lifting the blade above her as she spun under it to face him, her blade holding his as she brought it down to the ground. She smiled as she looked intently at him.

Cadyren pulled his sword out from under his opponents and took a step back.
<She is good.> he said to Asaila.
He took another moment to decide how to attack next then stepped forward and executed a few quick swings at her.

Elyria smiled as she tipped her head to him. She watched him intently, her eyes never leaving his. She moved with the speed of an elf as he advanced swinging quick at her. Her blade moved to block his as she moved to gain advantage. He was good she knew but he held back. She spun as her blade hit his to come around him from behind again. Her blade tapped him in the rear end. “You hold back my friend. Why?”

“You hold back my friend. Why?”
"I wanted to see how you would react to each strike. That way Icould find your weaknesses. But if you want me tojustskip that part then fine." he replied.
He then went on the attack again, but this time he changed directions in mid-swing, or faked to attack one way but attacked another.

Elyria smiled. "I am afraid that my skills are a little rusty and that is why I wish to engage you without restraint. I mean no disrespect to you." She nodded apologetically to him as she prepared herself again. She watched his eyes, ignoring his body. He moved to attack as she moved to block, as his direction changed in mid-swing hers did as well. Her blade tangled with his as she held his wrist within her hand. Her face close to his. She studied him intently.

As his opponents neared his an idea crossed his mind. It was a little more blunt then what he was used to but it would do. He pulled his head back then slammed it forward.
Then he began to attack his opponent with more even more complex slices.
His imagination was being stretched with coming up with a more complex strike then the last. He wasn't sure how much longer he'd last. He had to finish this soon.

Elyria flew back as she felt his head slam hard into hers. Her vision dimmed from the force of the blow. She tried to shake it but couldn't. Unable to see, she relied on her senses. She felt the disturbances in the air around her and listened to the sounds of his clothes, his breathing, even the swish of the blade on the air to fight him. She moved to block his attacks but felt herself falter. She felt her mistake too late as his blade caught hers sending it flying. She dropped to a knee as she breathed heavily.

Cadyren flung his opponents sword out of her hand. Then, not waisting time to savor his victory, placed his sword on his opponents neck.
"Dead," he said as he held out his hand to help her up,"You know, if I hadn't head butted you I would have probably lost."
Cadyren had a calm appearance but on the inside he jumping for joy.
<I won!> he told Asaila.
<I guess elf's as young as you don't usually win?> she asked.
<I'm not that young. I'm older then most humans.> he replied.
<If you say so.> she replied.
Turning his attention back to the woman he said,"So what is your name, I don't believe we introduced ourselfs when we sparred.

Elyria felt the steel against her neck. She smiled as he called out "Dead". She reached for his hand and rose to her feet. Her vision now clearing she looked at him clearly. "Well met Rider." She brushed herself off and brushed her long white hair from her face, hooking it behind her ear. Her green eyes studied him closely. "My name is Elyria." She held her hand in traditional elven greeting to him. "And you?" she asked. She heard Domia laughing within her mind as the massive emerald green dragon landed softly behind her.
He kicked your butt little one. Domia huffed a small puff of smoke in his amusement.
She smiled as she eyed Domia. "This funny man behind me is Domia, the Jewel of Alagaesia."
The dragon let loose a small burst of flame as she teased him. Elyria I told you never, ever to call me that! My name means Dominance. Jewel of Alagaesia will not strike fear into the hearts of our enemies!
Elyria laughed softly. "He has no sense of humor."
