Taran brightened his smile as he looked into her eyes. "I alway hoped to make my own fate, but I am glad I was given this one. I don't know where I'd rather be right now, than here..with you."

Aethelwyne felt her cheeks flush as she lowered her head, smiling. She thought for a moment then raised her head to look back into his eyes. "Fate truly smiles upon us."

Taran smiled, still stroking her hair. "Yes, fate smiles on us. I only hope it continues to do so." Taran picked a grape to eat, but hesitated, looking intently at it.

"What is it that gives you pause Taran?" Aethelwyne asked.

Taran looked up at her at the sound of her voice. "Nothing, it's nothing. Just looking. I wonder sometimes, wonder about things in this world. Here is a grape for us to eat, yet it begins as nothing, as we do. Dragons, however, always seem to be there, already something," he mused with a smile. "But....Love is like a grape. It starts as nothing, then grows and grows, until it becomes something."

"Is that what this is? Love. I always thought that love would forever be a stranger to me. Never seeking it but yet, secretly desiring, hoping that maybe...one day...." she looked deep into his eyes trying to see in to his very soul.

Taran looked deep into her eyes, seeing the emotion lying within. Pulling her in close, Taran leaned his forehead against hers. "I know what you mean. I thought I'd never feel this way, but now I do. And I never want it to end"

She felt his skin against hers and lost herself in the torrent of emotion overtaking her. "I don't want it to end either." She placed her hand over his heart, holding him close. Never wanting to let him go.

Taran sat there, holding her as the day grew. Feeling her hand over his heart, Taran put his over hers. "Watch this," he told her. Concentrating, Taran made the energy between them intense, his Insignia glowing brightly. "Remember the night with the moon? It seems, there were some other...effects." He smiled to her, the energy still buzzing. He felt a small tingle over his heart where her hand rested.

Aethelwyne tensed momentarily as the energy flowing between them grew in strength. The Insignia on his chest glowed brilliantly and felt warm under her touch. “How are you doing this?” she asked. She had never seen anything like this, moon magic or other.
She took his other hand and placed it over her own heart then placed her hand on top of his. She felt the energy intensify. The flow was so great that she could not catch her breath. Her heart beat so fervently she feared it would come out of her chest. “Are you my one Taran?” The words came from her lips softly, barely more than a whisper.

Taran felt the energy intensify beyond what he had done. The energy flowed through his entire body, warming him and filling him with some kind of strength. Taran took deep breaths, struggling more as the seconds passed. Taran looked into her violet eyes, their hearts beating as one. Though barely a whisper, Taran felt Aethelwyne's question echo through his mind and body. It puzzled him. He was not sure exactly what she meant, though he wanted to answer yes. "I...I don't know. What do you mean, 'you're one'? I've never heard of anything like that," he said softly, quietly.

Aethelwyne struggled to breath against the energy. She didn't know what this strange magic was. Her heart felt like it were going to explode. Her voice failed and she had to touch his mind no longer able to get enough air into her lungs to even manage a simple whisper. 'Soulmate! The one to whom I will entrust my heart and soul. Is it you? The other half that makes me whole.'

Taran could feel it, the energy growing to be too much. He released his hold on it, but it still was extremely strong. He heard Aethelwyne in his mind, speaking to him. 'Yes, I feel...complete. This great power flows through my heart when I am near you, this energy,' he told her in her mind, gesturing with his hands to his insignia. 'I can only do it when I am near you.'

She looked at him, almost pleading as the strength of the magic was overtaking her even though he released it. Again she reached to him and spoke to him in the ancient language. 'Taran my heart is yours and yours alone. I give it freely and without condition to you. It cannot belong to another.'

Taran pulled away slightly, the energy still growing though he released it. As he moved slightly away, the power began to die down, though it was still great. 'My heart could never belong to another, it was made to be near you...my love, my soulmate.'
