OOC: *siiiiiigh* Well...I suppose it's time to figure out how to make a Rider into a Shade...lol
Kat sat slumped against a tree in the Spine, having fled here after they had lost the battle. Lost...her king slain, those rebels now in power. All purpose to her life was now gone, everything she had ever devoted herself to destroyed. She had failed in her duty, allowing the king to be killed. She had nearly thrown herself on her sword when she learned the truth, but Van had stopped her. Now she sat, contemplating. She needed to come up with a plan. All those who were truly loyal to the king had fled, and the rest had become boot-lickers to Alagaesia's new established queen. It was a disgrace! She would not allow these Varden to win. But she knew she couldn't do it alone. We must avenge our king, Vanilor, she said to her dragon, standing. She had an idea where she might find someone to help her.

Vanilor sat near Kat, his head on his paw, watching her with great concern. She had become very distraught over the king's death and the loss of her station. Vanilor was merely angry of their loss, but felt that they could move on. He had cared little of those in the castle, besides of Kat. He was only angry because she was in pain. He made a whiny noise when he felt her recall the moment she had tried to take her life. He really pained her to lose her King. He was weak if he was defeated. It was simple as that. Why couldn't they just continued to fight and show those Varden cretins that they were better? He didn't understand fully the politics of it all, to him, instinct dominated his actions. He stirred, rustling his wings when Kat finally spoke. He eyed her for a moment, wondering if she was getting her instincts back. What do you wish to do, Kat? He asked, lifting himself, glad that she seemed to have her mind again. Whatever made her happy, Van would do, as long as it kept her safe.

Kat glanced over at Van when he asked his question. She knew he didn't understand everything well enough. To her, it was more than politics. Serving Galbatorix had been everything she ever lived for. With her king dead, there was no one she was any longer loyal to. All humanity could burn. Even her family made her sick, grovelling to the Varden queen as they did. Several choice words crossed her mind to describe Nasuada, none of which was at all appropriate for a woman of her former disposition to even be thinking. However, at this point, it didn't really matter. She was now no one. To return to her old station would mean submitting to the rebels how murdered her king. Never in a million years would her pride and loyalty allow that. I want...revenge, she said. Her heart ached. Her king was dead. He had been everything to her. She would even go so far as to say she loved him. Van, surely there are those who are as loyal as we. They must be found. She stood and walked over to stand next to her bond. We will continue to fight. You shall rule the skies soon, my heart. Kat mounted the saddle on Vanilor's back and gazed at the blue expanse above them. There was only one problem. As she was, she would never be able to convince others to follow her. She was but a single Rider with one dragon, against an army of the same. The next generation was growing fast. ~~~~~ Allecia was beginning to grow bored with the world. Peace was reigning too long. She thought over everything, imagining a way to cause another dramatic event that would reshape history. Something that had never happened before. She considered...a new Shade. Perhaps an army of Shades? That would wreck such havoc upon the world that it may never be the same again. That shouldn't be all. A Rider. A Shade Rider. Now that would cause entertainment for centuries to come! The woman smiled in spite of herself. She may have tried avowing to never again cause such destruction, but she really couldn't help herself. That was what she was best at.

Vanilor listened intently to his Rider's voice; the passion and hatred evident. We will rule the skies, Kat! We will show everyone that we are rulers of the skies! Van reiterated his one track mind. He would do all in his power to make Kat's suffering go away. He will help her gather those that she deemed worthy and he would make sure that all would know her pain and more for making her hurt. The yellow dragon shuffled his wings and when Kat was ready, he launched himself into the skies. Most of those loyal have moved northwest, to avoid the dark-skinned two legged. Van advised, having heard some rumors that there were still small resistance in the north.
