OOC: Two purposes: 1. Teza Mae's dragon. 2. Gloriann joining the Shade. Still not quite sure how to go about the second part. lol
Teza Mae just stared at the eggs in the hatchery. She had been escorted here every week ever since the exam finished, in the hopes that one would eventually hatch for her. There were so many; surely one of them was impressed by her somehow. Usually, she would have given up by now, but something kept her coming. She could still remember that voice that had called out to her when she almost drowned during the exam. It was unlike anything she had ever heard before. After confiding in Ebrithil Roland, she'd concluded that she had some sort of premonition about her future bond with a dragon. So she kept coming, kept searching. She touched each of the eggs, hoping that it was the one that would choose her. From within the room, Ebrithil Tismri watched with knowing eyes. Teza Mae touched a very small red egg, the smallest in the entire room. As soon as she did, she felt like there was a small movement inside. The princess' eyes widened in surprise and she took a step back, glancing over at Tismri. The old Rider nodded with a knowing smile. "Go ahead," she said. "Hold on to that one for a while, and see if it hatches." Teza Mae gently picked it up. The shell was very hard, but at the same time seemed incredibly fragile. Excitement then lit up her face and, walking carefully, she set off to find her brother and her cousins. She especially couldn't wait to tell Tatiana! ~~~~~ Gloriann stood before the gathered teachers. She'd passed all her exams nearly flawlessly, as had Sundavar. She felt both nervous and excited at the same time, and knew it would not be long before she was considered a Rider in full. She'd seen what the older students had done; generally, they were sent on a difficult errand, usually to Alagaesia, and made to return with a final report on what they had learned. She wondered if she and Sundavar were going to be sent alone on this quest, or if they would have companions. She hoped that Seth and Hyperion might be allowed to join them. It would be much nicer to have her friend along.

OOC: It's about time someone responds to this! lol
Jason sat in his room, concentrating on an open book before him. Inscribed on the pages were lessons on the ancient language. He had been studying the elven language for some time now, looking at the structure of each word, the way the words were connected, and numerous other finite details. His brow was scrunched in concentration as he pondered theories. So far, he had only had Master Rolands hypothesis to work on; magic could only work correctly for Ismalians if stated exactly and precisely with their intent. However, that did not stop magic from having negative effects on Ismalians if used against them. Wards were their only protection, in that case. Sighing, he settled back in his chair and closed his eyes. One day he would solve this conundrum. ***
Eva stood near Glory, smiling widely. She was also being recognized today as an official dragon rider of New Doru Arabea. That did not mean her training would stop. Not in the least. It only meant that people could come to her now with their problems, that she could be sent on missions and do important things. She was happy that Glory was being recognized too. Her cousin had matured quickly during her time in Bromsland, and it was no surprise that she was already at this moment. Eos stood next to Eva, her neck arched proudly. Eos stood tall, with her buttery wings folded neatly at her sides. Her tail switched slightly in excitement. Eva wondered what there first official missions would be as dragon and rider.

Teza Mae had a feeling she knew where to find her brother. Jason was likely in his room, studying. He seemed to hardly take a break from the books ever since the exams had finished. She ran, though she was cautious with the egg in her hands, and without knocking entered his quarters. "Jason!" she called out excitedly, holding out the perfect gem in her hands toward him. "Jason, look! I think...I think I may have finally impressed a dragon!"

OOC: So what do you want to do with Glory? Eva can go into Alagesia with her if Max doesn't want Seth heading out.
Ismalia... There must be secret scrolls hidden somewhere within his country. Scrolls that would point to the origins of Ismalia's magic problem. Perhaps there was a lost history somewhere, in which everything would be revealed. Jason grew excited thinking about this prospect. Perhaps the answer wasn't in Bromsland at all. Perhaps it was where he had been born... The country was fairly large. Certainly there were places to be re-discovered! So caught up in his thoughts, Jason jumped, startled, at Tezza's sudden entry. He stared at the item in her hands, unable to register what it was. At first, he thought she had been given a gemstone or something from an admirer. But he soon noticed the shape of the red object, and the white veins that webbed across the glossy surface.
Rushing to his feet, Jason went to get a closer look at the egg. "Tezza! Congratulations, sister! This is amazing news!" And he hugged her quickly, perhaps a little too hard, and then released her, holding her at arms length. "Look at you, growing up and becoming a dragon rider. Next thing I know, you'll be wearing the crown and ordering me around more than you already do."

OOC: Still wondering on that. lol, I was just wondering who all the instructors were who were planning to send them out somewhere. Guess we could have, like, Tismri and Vana decide to send them somewhere.
Teza Mae laughed in delight at Jason's words, still gazing at the egg. She was still struck by how very small it was; the dragon inside must be very tiny. "What do you mean?" she asked him when he mentioned her wearing the crown. "You know as well as I that I only become Queen Mother after I marry someone. And if you and Dad have anything to say about it, that'll never happen." She giggled lightly. She stroked the egg lightly, smiling more than she ever had in the past. ~~~~~ Glory smiled at Eva as they waited; they had both worked hard to get to this moment, and now that it was here, she could scarcely believe it. Sundavar was nearly trembling from excitement. To be recognized as full Riders...in the ancient past, they would have been presented with their own swords at this moment, but ceremonies had changed, mostly due to the lack of brightsteel in the world and Rhunon's inablity to mass-produce them on her own. She wondered what all would happen when she and Eva returned from their tasks.
Tismri gazed down at the students, smiling at the joy she saw on their faces. She remembered that moment for herself and Ismrolde; she touched the hilt of Mor'ranr lightly as the scene presented itself to her mind. Still, she was concerned about this mission they were sending these children on. It was a simple task taking them back to Alagaesia, but the reports of the Shade Rider had her worried. She hoped the new Riders would be able to avoid any interaction with it.

OOC: That works for me! We could send them to Nasuada or to Du Weldenvarden to get their swords? They could make them themselves as had Eragon. Or they could find their own brightsteel... idk! lol
Jason grimaced at the thought of Tezza being married. He hoped he would be an old rambling man before that happened. He would solve the problem with magic before he would let that happen! "Yes, boys are gross, Tezza, you wouldn't want to have to deal with one. They are just trouble and headaches. I'm a guy. I would know." He glanced down at the egg, marveling at its color and even its tiny size. "When do you think it will hatch?" he asked, tapping his chin as he pondered the thought too.

OOC: Oh, finding more brightsteel sounds fun! Teza Mae rolled her eyes at her brother's words. She honestly wasn't looking to get married any time soon. She had too much to do right now! Like, wait for this egg to hatch. She gazed down at the brilliant ruby in her arms. "I don't know when he might hatch," she said. "I felt the egg move a little when I touched it, and Master Tismri seemed rather confidant that it would eventually hatch." She looked down at it. The egg remained rather stationary for the moment. "I hope I don't have to wait too long."

Jason placed a reassuring hand on Tezzie's shoulder. "Don't worry. Good things come to those who wait." He said sagely. "Now, what do you say about adventuring with me in Ismalia?" He asked enigmatically. Going into the wilds of Ismalia by himself would have been fine, but then, who would protect Tezza? He supposed the task would fall to his cousin, Tylon. It would be the boy's duty to eventually enter the royal guard, and who better to protect Tezza? Tylon was young, but he was earnest and stalwart. "Perhaps you should try talking to the egg?" He suggested. "Maybe coax the little one out." ***
The maters of New Doru Arabea had decided together which task to appoint to the young dragon riders. Vana stepped forward now to announce it. "Glorian Marolasdaughter, Rider of Sundavar, and Eva Giannasdaughter, rider of Eos, the time has come for you to step forward as dragon riders and take your place among the order. Your first task as riders awaits for you now, and if you complete it successfully, then, truly, will you be Rider and Dragon." Vana paused and revealed a scroll. "Marked on this scroll is the general location of a fresh batch of Brightsteel. Go and retrieve the precious metal. Then, take it to Rhunon, where you will help her forge your riders blade. Return to us with your weapons, and we will know that you were successful. Now, riders, are you ready for the task."
"I am ready, Master Vana." Eva said gravely, eyes bright at the prospect of their journey. Eos also stated she was ready, though only Eva heard it. All Vana and the other masters saw was a nod of the yellow dragons head.

Teza Mae gave Jason a glance, wondering what he meant about adventuring in Ismalia. "I think it would be fun," she told him. "It's just...if this little guy does hatch for me, I'm going to have to stay and train. I want to be as proper a Rider as I can be." She looked back down at the egg as she took a seat, deciding her twin's advice couldn't hurt. "Hey, little guy," she said softly, stroking, the shell gently. "I know it must be cramped in there. And dark. And I know you've been in there for a long time. Don't you want to come out and see the world?" She looked back up at her brother, her gaze curious. "What do you want to go adventuring around Ismalia for anyway?" she asked him. "Have you found something?" She thought of his search for a way to fix their magic problem, wondering if he might have discovered something to help. ~~~~~ Gloriann listened carefully to Vana's instructions, excited at the prospect. There was more brightsteel in the world? They would be able to get their own Riders' swords! Her eyes brightened significantly at the thought. At Vana's question, she nodded. "Yes, Ebrithil," she said, her quiet voice masking the thrill she felt. She took the scroll from their master and opened it, showing it to Eva. Why are you so thrilled about obtaining a long, sharp object? Sundavar asked, more curious than judgemental. It's their way of saying we're no longer students, she explained to the dragon. We'll be considered full-fledged Riders at this point.

"Not yet." Jason said, shaking his head. "But I was just now thinking. What if the answers to Ismalia's magic problem rested within Ismalia itself? Ismalia's an old country, with ancient heritage. Surly there must be ruins somewhere, places that need to be rediscovered. What if there is a history of magic out there somewhere, waiting to be pieced together! The answer my very well rest within relics and ruins!" ***
Eva looked at the scroll, noting that the brightsteel had fallen somewhere at the edge of the haddarac desert. "We won't fail you." Eva said, looking back at the masters.
"We are confident in your abilities." Vana said, giving a small smile. "Now go! May the sun stay at your back, and the wind under your wings, young riders." Eva gave Vana and the others a deep, formal bow. The group began to disperse, leaving Eva and Glory to plan their trip.
"All I need to do is a pack a travel pack. Afterwards, I shall be ready. Rendezvous here in an hour?" She asked Glory.

Seth and Hyperion had just returned from a mission, having been considered Rider and Dragon just a week ago. Their bond had grown and Seth was beginning to be proficient in using Hyperion's eyes as his own. The blind Rider was now seated in one of the courtyards of the city, enjoying the day and wondering where Glory was. He told her that when he came back he would be here to greet her. He wondered if she checked everyday or just asked around. He told her that the mission to help out a village in Surda would take only a week. He scratched his head. You worry about it too much. Glory will be here. Hyperion informed his Rider as he sat on his haunches, cleaning underneath his wing. Well, I just want to make sure she's all right. Besides, its kinda nice to know if she cared to stop by... Seth told his dragon with a slight blush.
OOC: At least say goodbye to the blind boy, Glory! lol hehe

Teza Mae smiled at Jason's eagerness; he was one step closer to fufilling his dream, just as she was to hers. However, her eyebrows scrunched together in concern. "I'm hope you find what you're looking for," she told him. There was a light wobble in her hands, but she barely noticed. "I just...Be careful, Jason. Remember all the dangerous artifacts Mom told us she was looking for." Her eyes drifted down to the egg. It wobbled again, and she heard a squeek. Her eyes widened. "Jace..." she said. "Jace, I think...I think he's hatching!" ~~~~~ Gloriann bowed in reply to Vana's words and then turned to Eva and Eos. "I'll do the same," she told her, but then hesitated. "But, um...if I'm a little late...don't worry." She wondered if Eva knew what she meant by it. Glory had no idea if Seth was back or not, so she just wanted to make sure. She mounted Sundavar for the brief flight to the courtyard where they'd agreed to meet. She felt her heart skip a beat in excitement when she saw him. As soon as Sundavar landed, she jumped off and ran for him, throwing her arm around him. "Seth! You're back!" she exclaimed. Well now she wasn't happy about the timing of things. Just as he got back, she would have to leave.

Thoughts of Ismalian magic trickled away at Tezza's declaration. "Really!?" He asked, staring closely at the egg. "Come on little guy, you can do it." he said to the egg. This moment would change their lives forever, he thought to himself. If Tezza became a dragon rider, how was he supposed to keep up with her? He frowned a little at the thought, before carefully concealing his emotions again. ***
Eva wondered what Glory meant. What would take her longer than an hour? No matter. She jumped onto Eos's back, and they flew together back towards their quarters. She would have to say goodbye to Ian before she left, after she packed all her things. Perhaps, during their journey, they could visit Celesti. It would be a little out of the way, but it would be nice to see all of her family again.

Ian sat outside of his living quarters with Castiel. The two were playing a card game. "Do you have a 2?" Ian asked his dragon. Ha! Go Firefishing! Castiel laughed as he used his body to hide his cards from his Rider. "Are you sure?" Ian stared at Castiel knowingly. "I'm pretty sure there's one on the very left of your hand!" Ian accused. You're cheating! We said no mind cheating! "You practically flaunted a mental image to me! Its not my fault! And you're the one cheating! You white liar!" The two began to argue on what qualified as cheating to one another.
*** "Glory!" Seth shouted with excitement as he felt her arms wrap around him. "You made it!" He smiled brightly at her. "How is everything." He wrapped his own arms around his friend.

Teza Mae set the egg on the edge of the bed and watched it carefully. "Come on, little guy," she coaxed. "I know you can do it." There was a series of sqeeks coming from inside, and the egg rocked back and forth a bit more violently. Finally, after about ten minutes, cracks began forming. A rather malformed circle appeared, and out of it a tiny head poked out. Crimson eyes blinked at her, and then the creature began struggling more. Teza Mae almost wanted to help him, because he was so small and seemed to be having trouble, but she knew it would be good for him to get out of this himself. Finally, the cracks spread enough that the dragon crawled out of the shell. He was really small, no bigger than a newborn kitten, actually. He crawled immediately toward Teza Mae. Hesitantly, she reached out; she remembered her mother's stories of when she'd bonded to Caedus. It had not been pleasant. The instant her hand made contact with the hatchling, the princess felt her entire body go absolutely numb, rendering her unable to move. Then, slowly pain began to spread from her palm outward, making her entire body feel as if it were on fire, but she was still unable to move. She remained like that for a long time before the pain finally died down and she could move again. Gasping for breath, she sat up and looked down at the miniature dragon that had settled himself in her lap. She stared at her palm for a moment or two, the silvery mark showing. Then she looked back up at Jason, her eyes alight with joy. "Jace!" she said, laughing with delight, "I'm a Rider now! Just like Mom!" ~~~~~~ Glory felt her heart soar at Seth's smile, so happy that he had returned. "Everything's been fine!" she told him. "I just missed you like crazy, that's all." She hugged him a little more tightly before letting him go. Sundavar made a playful jab at Hyperion in greeting. Actually, Glory and I are about to head out on a mission of our own, she told them. "Yes...My cousin Eva and I are being sent to find some brightsteel and then go to Du Weldenvarden to have our own swords made." Glory's voice was excited, but at the same time expressed some hesitance. "I hope we won't be gone for too long," she told him.
