The little brook burbled through the woods, passing over an assortment of smooth, colorful pebbles. The water reflected the green of the woods, and dragonflys hovered just over the water. Talia sat at the edge of the brook atop a round rock that was a little too small, her toes edging into the cool water. She watched the water drift by, examing the twigs and little items that washed away with the water. She watched the reflection of birds and squirrels. While she absorbed all this with her eyes, her mind drifted off on its own currents. She loved to indulge in daydreams. Sometimes she created romantic scenarios, while at other times she thought of her mothers dragon and what it might be like to have been a rider. She thought of large-scale battles, or urgals and elves and dwarves all thrown together in a frey of blood and battle cries. Tally wondered what it might be like to be a wanderer. Just to travel the land without any ties to keep you to a place. She wondered what it might be like to be anyone besides herself, Talia Celesti. But always, she was glad to be who she was.
Her eyes traveled to the banks of the brook, where wildflowers grew up out of the rich soil and beetles lingered. She caught sight of a bulfrog lounging half-submerged. And there was something else, near that tree-trunk.... Her mind focused sharply, wrenching away from her daydreams. A furry animal stood watching her. After a moment she realized what it was.
"Hello there." She called to the werecat. This particular cat was black furred with streaks of white through its mane. It's eyes were a reflective silver. At her acknowledgement, the werecat sauntered over to the brook, easily leapt across the tiny body of water, and moved to sit beside her. Tally stared at it, always curious as to why she received infrequent visits by the mysterious creatures. They never spoke to her, and she never bothered asking. She was afraid she might chase them away. But she hated being afraid.
"Werecat... why do you come visit me?" She asked now, turning her body to face the large shaggy cat. The creature looked up into her face, blinked once, solemnly, and looked into the water. At fist Tally didn't think she would recieve a response, but at last, something brushed across her mind, causing her to shiver.
Because you are important. It replied, surprising Tally with a feminine voice. And we do not know why. Tally stared at it, eyes wide. And you are peaceful to be with. And I happen to enjoy peaceful company. Tally continued to stare, but when the werecat said no more, she looked back into the brook, her mind racing with extravagant daydreams. After a little while, the werecat spoke again. Someone comes. she said, in a purring like tone.

Daeron stumbled into the peaceful spot his Sister was occupying. "Hey baby sis!" He grinned at her, eyes hazed over. "Whatcha doing?" He slurred out to her, brandishing a wineskin. He and his friends had raided the tavern again and promptly got drunk. He was just leaving them when he just felt inclined for a walk! And now, drunk and staggering about, Daeron encountered his sister. He staggered toward her, but not before tripping on a rock and splashing into the brook. "Ow!" He whined as he floated in the water, staring up into the sky. He giggled. "Wow. That's one BIG sky!" He whistled in awe, half forgetful that his sister was here.

The peaceful silence was broken first by a long, thin hiss from the werecat. Tally looked down at it, wondering what was bothering her. The werecat looked at her, twitched its whiskers, and then stood and trotted off into the forest. Tally watched it go, feeling a bit forlorn at its absence. She wasn't alone for long, however. Daeron came stumbling into her haven, acting like a fool. "Dareon!" She exclaimed, standing up and watching him fall in the brooke. The clear waters became muddy. "The sky has always been big!" She said to him, staring disapprovingly. Why did he have to and waste himself like this? He had so much potential... "Come here, Dareon." she said, stepping into the water and pulling him up to the bank. In his current state, he'd be able to drown in a puddle. "You really should stop raiding poor old Rigley's tavern. That's his living that you're taking away from him." She reprimanded. But it was useless. What she was saying was probably hardly registering for him.

"Has it really?" Daeron continued to stare at the sky with his dazed look. "Oh, hey! Not so rough, not so rough." Daeron whined as Tally dragged him out of the brook. She really wasn't rough on him, but he was utterly drunk. "Rigley's a mean fool! I would have willinging purchased this if he wasn't such a tart! Underage! Ha! I am a grown man! Grown! Big! Gigantic!" Daeron declared with gusto as Tally helped him to his feet. "Now...where'd I put that wineskin?" Daeron glanced around stupidly, not realizing that he was holding it. "Why are you out here, anyway! Its not safe for baby sisters to go off on their own! Oooo what would Cortell say?" He snickered and sneered at his brother. "Mister goody-goody would not be happy with you." He laughed.

Tally's frown only deepened. Rigley was not a mean fool at all. He was one of the oldest men in Gladia Celesti. He had been a slave for more than half his life. When he was freed from her mother, he offered drink to the other members of the tribe to give them "liquid courage". According to him, his purpose was never to get the tribe raging drunk. He just wanted to make them smile. When he was a slave, he had specialized in alcoholic beverages. Wine, mead, beer, ale, all sorts. "You may be a man but you're acting like a boy!" Tally accused, and hurriedly grabbed the wineskin out of his hands. "And you shouldn't talk about Cortell that way. He would do anything for you! Don't be so sour." Uncapping the wineskin, she let the contents fall into the brook. The fishes would enjoy it. She threw the empty wineskin into the woods. "And I'm not a baby Daemon! I'm fifteen! And far more responsible then you!"

"Pfft!" Daeron shrugged off his sister. "Whatever you say, Tally. Cortell always dotes on you! No...never wants to hang out with me. I hear what people say! Bad influence I am. Well, what is so wrong with me having a bit of fun!" He yelled out to the world. "Hey! Don't do that!" He scrunched up his face as he watched Tally pour out his drink. "The fish don't know how to drink!!!" He slurred and staggered toward her. "Oh, look! You wasted it!" He frowned like a child and then got distracted by a bird. "Oh! Blue jay!" He stared after it, dazed. He blinked and looked back at Tally. "When did you get here?" His eyes rolled. "Oh, my head hurts..." He stumbled and collasped, passing out in front of his sister.
OOC: Poor Tally lol.

This was jut peachy. Tally stared at the figure of her passed out brother. How was she supposed to get him back to town like this? She was no strong man. Biting her lip, she considered, briefly, leaving him here. Waking up in the woods at night might teach him a lesson. Sighing, she knelt down next to him. There was no way she could leave him here. "Daemon!" she slapped him lightly around the cheeks. "Daemon!" Frustrated, she threw her hands up and started pacing. There was the option of returning to town and getting Cortell involved. But she thought Daemon would hate her for it. Settling to her knees again, she placed her hands over Daemon. "Awake!" She commanded in the ancient language, willing herself to perform magic. She had never been good at it. Although she new the ancient language semi-fluently, being able to control and perform magic was something she had not yet been able to grasp completely.

Daeron startled awake, spluttering the drool that was forming in his mouth. "Ack! Ow! What the heck, Tally? What's going on?" Daeron cried out, holding his head and sounding more coherent...perhaps that spell did waken him from his stupor. Daeron glanced around, confused. "What are we doing here?" He groaned, his head throbbing from drunkeness.

OOC: haha! Woops on me mistaking names. lol
Unable to help herself, Tally gave a squeal of delight when Daeron awoke with a start. Clapping her hands together, she sprang to her feet and skipped around Daeron. "I did it!" She exclaimed, falling back down beside him again. "I used magic! That's the best I've done so far!" Realizing Daeron's confusion, she sobered and explained the situation. "You came out here drunker than an alcoholic. You fell in the brook, I dragged you up here, and then you passed out. So I used magic to wake you." Her face revealed another wide smile. "And it worked!" Tally laughed happily. "I can't wait to tell mom!" She grew serious again, calming herself. "How do you feel? Still drunk?"

"Shhhh, Tally." Daeron groaned, holding his head. In any other circumstance, the elder brother would have been very proud of Tally for using magic, however, the pounding headache preoccupied his praise. "Yay for you." He grumbled out with a groan. "No...I don't feel drunk anymore...but I can still feel the after effects." He motioned to stand. He staggered up straight and idly wondered why he continued to do the stupid things he did. Why did he even drink? He hated the burning taste and the hangover after wasn't worth it at all. "What time is it and where are we?" Daeron asked his sister as he squinted a look around.

Tally's spirits fell a bit at Daeron's uncaring remark. Weren't older brothers supposed to be more excited about the accomplishments of their little sisters? Well, no matter. She was only a year younger than he. "It's five in the afternoon. You were passed out for only a few minutes." Sighing, Tally got to her feet once more and gestured at the trees. "We're in the forest a mile or so outside of Celesti. Come on... I suppose I better get you back to town before mom and dad really start to worry. About either of us." She added the last bit to avoid Daeron's anger. "Why is getting drunk so much fun?" she asked then, truly curious. "You do it so often... maybe I should try it?" If Daeron encouraged her to get drunk, than Tally would be seriously worried.

"Uh huh." Daeron barely registered Tally's implied remarks about his parents as he slowly followed her. He sighed when his sister asked him why he drank. "I dunno...just to forget things, I guess." He told his sister honestly. What was the point in lying to her? He snapped his head at her as she suggested that she drink. "What!? No! You will not!" Daeron roared out and then groaned as his head pounded. "I won't have you drinking at all!" He told her, staggering over to her, leaning a bit of his weight on her so he could walk straight.

To forget things!? What did that mean? Daeron had a good life, full of good people! Why would he want to forget that? Tally felt inexplicably sad now. "I feel bad for you, Daeron. Your life would be so much better if you would just let go of your jealousy." It was no secret to her that Daeron felt that Cortell out shone him. That he thought Cortell would be always better than him. But that wasn't true! Tally thought both brothers had good and bad traits. Sometimes, Cortell was too responsible. "Dareon, you're a great guy. You have your own great qualities and values. It's just hard to see them sometimes when you mess yourself up with mead and ale. You don't hang out with a very good crowd either." Tally hoped she didn't sound like she was giving a lecture. She just knew that Daeron was a good guy, and other people should know it. She let Daeron lean on her without complaint. Anything to get him home safely.

"Tally, just drop it all right." Daeron instantly spat out, annoyed with the scolding; he already got it enough from Mother and Father. However, this was Tally, and the moment those angered words came out, Daeron immediately regretted them. "Look, I know you mean well, okay." His voice was a lot softer, more loving. "And I'm glad that you see that in me...I just wished Mom and Dad would." Daeron confided in his sister; he had no secrets from his family...a lie or two maybe...but he always was honest. "Come on, you don't need to worry about me, lil sis." He leaned away to stand tall, despite his throbbing head. "I'll be fine." He told her as they walked along.
*** Dominic limped along the path into the village of Celesti. He was still on the trail of Joshua Aramis, who seemed to have gone this direction, according to the last town. He needed to kill that traitor; he needed to leg back to its full capacity. The young assassin moved silently along until he reached the town.

Tally accompanied Daeron the rest of the way into town. They walked silently the rest of the trip, and Tally hoped that Daeron was feeling better as they went on. She hoped, also, that he was at least thinking about the things she had said to him. The path she led them on took them into an alley near the end of town. Dusk was settling over Celesti now as the two siblings came out onto the main road that led through the center of town. They walked a few steps further until Tally realized their was a stranger a little ways ahead of them. "Look, Daeron!" she said, pointing out the limping man. "A stranger. Lets go give him a welcome!" Bursting into a run, Tally dashed ahead of Daeron to go greet the newcomer.
Slowing to a walk, Tally reached the man's side and gave him a smile. "Hello!" She said, looking into his face. She was surprised to see a young man looking back at her. From the way the man limped, she had been expecting someone older. "Welcome to Celesti! What brings you here, stranger? We have an inn and a tavern, a little further down, if you seek lodging or a good meal."
