Sachiko felt an odd sensation as she grew more tired while Daeron drew on her energy. She'd never had such a thing happen to her before; he did it gently, so she wasn't uncomfortable. She just felt a little lulled. She smiled at his comments. "We'll be better prepared next time," she promised him. "I don't think either of us was entirely ready for this." She put her bloody hand in his as he fell asleep. She sat down in the sticky red fluid that now coated the floor of the tent and watched over Daeron, wanting to make certain that when he awoke, he would be all right. As time passed on, she felt her mind starting to drift. His screams of pain echoed like a symphony in her mind, the memory of his whimpers was like a lullaby. Before long, she found herself falling asleep against him, still holding his hand.

The early hours of morning had befallen the campsite of the Shade Rider, when Daeron finally awoke. He felt a light weight on his chest and groggily looked down. Sachi's head was lying on his chest. He couldn't help the smile, though odd after what she had put him through. He shifted slightly, uncomfortable because of the dry blood that was all over and under him; it was sticking to him unpleasantly and because of the soreness he now felt. He adjusted himself softly, as not to wake the crimson angel atop him. He then noticed that their hands were clasped together. His heart beat hammered because of that. Slowly, he took his free hand and gingerly stroked back one of Sachi's bangs, so her face was more exposed.
They probably should get up and clean themselves up. He had no idea if Katriana or Glory would be looking for them. He continued to gaze at Sachi's form, feeling incline to let his leader and sister wait whilst he enjoyed this moment a bit longer. However, sense gathered to him and the feeling to not let Katriana wait imposed him to gently wake Sachiko.
"Hey, Sachi, sorry, but we should get up; they might be looking for us." He whispered, stroking her hair to wake her gently.

Sachi stirred lightly as she felt someone stroking her hair. Somewhere, deep back in her memory, she recalled her mother doing that. It felt nice. After another moment, she heard Daeron's voice, and then she began to realize where she was. She opened her eyes and smiled at him. She felt some dried blood on her face crack as she moved, a reminder of the pain she had caused him the night before. She felt an odd twinge in her gut as she thought of that. Hurting him perhaps wasn't the best way to express her feelings for him. But there was nothing else she knew how to do. She survived in the world by causing pain to others. But...she'd shown she cared for him by stopping herself before she went too far. And he seemed willing to go through it again for her. For the moment, the idea didn't sound too appealing, but she had a feeling that once her bloodlust began to rise again, she would undoubtedly turn to him for the relief he offered. She chose not to dwell on that for the moment. Instead, she tightened her hand on his slightly as she moved to sit up. Her long hair was sticking to his chest, dried blood acting as glue. She pulled on her hair gently. "I suppose you're right," she sighed. She blinked herself to more full wakefulness and gazed at him seriously. In the early morning light, which barely served to lighten the interior of the tent, she noticed some of the refined details of his face: his eyes, the pleasant curve of his jaw, the way his hair framed him--though it was matted down a bit from being soaked in blood for so long. She felt strange impulses she'd never felt before, thoughts that made her heart pound a little harder. She'd seen a few people over the years who would express their affection to one another through kissing. She'd never understood that desire until now. But what would he think of such a thing? "Daeron," she whispered, knowing they should leave the tent and clean themselves off before they were discovered, but delaying for a few moments longer. "I...thank you. For trusting me. For letting me...do that do you." She looked away from him for a moment, but then met his gaze again, feeling her face inch just a little closer. "You saved me..." she told him. "Thank you."

Daeron's eyes followed Sachi's movements as she awoke and sat up. His gaze was intense as he watched her, feeling an electrifying tension form inside the tent. He didn't know what was causing it, but he felt an undeniable urge to get closer to Sachiko. He sat himself up, facing her as she spoke to him. He felt himself give a modest smile. "If it eases your pain, I'm always happy to help." He whispered to her, feeling that force push him closer to her. His eyes followed her as she turned away from him and he couldn't help a frown. Why would she turn away from him? He inched his face closer, trying to make eye contact with her. She turned to him again and he smiled at her words. "I was just repaying the favor - and I'll do it again too." He told her as he drew closer and placed his lips carefully on her own, his free hand darting up her neck and settling on her cheek. His mind whirled from the closeness and intimacy and his body demanded more. He kissed her more aggressively, forgetting about everything but the woman in front of him. They really should get up and go find that oasis to clean themselves up, but Daeron really didn't want to do that right now.

When their lips touched, Sachiko felt a whole new burst of emotion from herself. Her heart pounded more intensely, and her hand moved to his face. She hardly even knew what to do, but their kiss became more fierce. She felt as if she'd found in him a piece of her that had been missing. Daeron fulfilled her in a much different way than she had ever experienced before. Despite the fire he fueled inside her, he also made her feel strangely calm. Right now, it seemed he was the only thing that mattered. Even Kat's authority seemed minor compared to this. As their passion increased, Sachi pushed Daeron back down onto the bloody floor and laid down on top of him. Then, she heard a sudden, loud yowling from outside the tent. If you aren't too busy, she heard Pluto state sourly to her, going so far as to poke his furry, one-eyed face into the tent, Gloriann's started looking for her brother right now. I really don't think it would be good if she found you two...like that. Sachi couldn't tell if he was referring to them both being covered in blood, or in the middle of their heated moment. She sat up, feeling a little light-headed from being pulled out of her emotional state. She cleared her throat. "Um...I think...maybe, we'll continue this later?" she said, a little unsure. "Like you said, people are probably looking for us..."

Forgetting everything but Sachi, Daeron continued to eagerly kiss her as if life depended upon it. His heart thrilled when she pushed him down and for the first time in years, Daeron felt like he belonged; Sachi made him feel important. Gripping her hip with one hand, while the other held her cheek gently, Daeron continued to kiss her, eager for the closeness her body offered. He was thus consumed when she abruptly pulled back and sat back, straddling him. He let out an annoyed whine when she left his lips. He followed her movements; sitting up and wrapping her arms along her waist as his mouth trailed kisses on her neck. Daeron finally registered the words she spoke as his lips halted, but hovered over her neck. Sense came to him then; Sachi was right - Glory might be looking for him now. He let out another annoyed noise. "Tonight then." He planted a kiss in the crook of her neck. "I'll come to your tent tonight." He promised as he pulled back and stared at her, eyes sparkling with affection and lust. He gave her a smile. "I guess we should get cleaned up. Come on, you need to get off of me unless you changed your mind?" He teased.

Daeron's continued kisses made it nearly impossible for Sachi to stop. She was shuddering with pleasure at his every touch, and her entire body felt as if it were on fire. However, the knowledge that her werecat companion was nearby and Daeron's sister could discover them at any moment was just enough to keep her rational. "Tonight, then," she said, whispering in his ear as her hand snaked its way through his hair, pulling him closer. She somewhat clumsily disentangled herself from him--they were both still a sticky mess. She stood and tried to clear her head. "Come on. Let's go get cleaned up before your sister shows up." She made her way out of the tent and toward the oasis. *** Later that day, Sachiko sat near Katriana, playing with a rattlesnake she caught with her bare hands. What is this? she asked Pluto. She'd never understood anything besides hurting and killing before now. Daeron made her think and feel in an entirely different way, and it was strange. Pleasant, but at the same time a little scary. Well, for my species, it is a simple mating ritual, the black werecat replied, lazily licking his paw. We tend to choose our mates, and the females bear kittens. We rarely stay with out mates long at all. With humans, however, it tends to be...more complicated than that. Complicated...that is a good word, she stated, carefully plucking a venomous fang from the snake's mouth. The creature hissed and thrashed, its rattle shaking helplessly. Humans tend to choose their mates for life, Pluto continued to explain, Therefore, they often much more thought into it than other species. Most humans will choose based off mutual affection and trust, along with love. Love is what keeps them together through decades, and makes them willing to sacrifice much and bear unimaginable hardships for the sake of the other. Sachi thought of what Daeron had just sacrificed for her. He'd been willing to let her harm him so she could relieve her own suffering. Are you saying he loves me? she asked. That was an odd thought. She'd never needed love before. But now, the very thought of living without him made her want to sink into a deep hole. She also realized that she might not be able to say the same thing. After all, what had she sacrificed for him? Nothing that she could see. A little bit of energy so he could heal himself--which she felt she owed him after what she'd done. That was all. She was such a selfish person, she knew. She'd grown up that way. I think it is the beginning of it, yes, Pluto said, It has not flourished yet, but that comes with time. It will come for you, too, Sachi. Pluto finished cleaning his paw and, standing, flicked his tail and sauntered a short distance away, letting her know that he was leaving her to ponder over it herself. ~~~~~ Glory was starting to get just a bit impatient. She'd been looking all morning for Daeron, through the afternoon. Her searchings had led her to a bloody tent, but no sign of her brother. Thus, she'd missed her morning magic practice, which would likely displease Katriana. She hoped the blood in that tent hadn't been his. If it was, she was going to find out who injured him and kill them. No one messed with her big brother. No one. I see him, Sundavar finally pointed out. Glory went to where the dragon had indicated. "There you are!" she called out. "I've been looking for you all morning, Ron. Where were you?"

Daeron nodded and escaped the confines of the tent with Sachi, but not before making sure the area was clear from unwanted eyes. He didn't want Glory or anyone else for that matter to ask questions on why he looked like he was bathed in blood. With his blood-free tunic, Daeron found the oasis, where he cleaned himself from the blood that crusted his skin.
Hours later, Daeron, now freshly clean and newly garbed, found himself contemplating on this morning. His heart was nearly jumping out of his chest just thinking about Sachi that he nearly had to slap himself a few times just to concentrate on his own training; he had a few spars this morning just to relieve some new tension he was feeling. These feelings were definitely new, but he found himself liking it. For once, someone seemed to appreciate him. He idly hoped that Sachi wasn't toying with him; he had seen her act caring and loving just to get what she wanted. No, this time she looked really sincere. He really felt like she cared. Well, he'll find out tonight! That thought alone brought a genuine smile to his face.
Once the afternoon hit, Daeron decided to grab something to eat when he heard his sister call for him. He grinned sheephisly at Glory, rubbing the back of his head. "Oh, hey Glory," He tried to act natural, but he was feeling oddly too happy to act like his annoyed, angry self. "Uh, where you? Sorry, just been busy...what...what do you need?" He asked politely, trying to sound nonchalent.

Glory blinked at her brother's appearance. She almost didn't recognize him without that scowl on his face. Right now, he seemed to be grinning like a fool. She wasn't sure what that was about. It was nice to see him happy for once, though. "Well, I started out just wanting to say good morning," she told him. "It's kinda late for that now. But, I guess since I'm talking to you, do you have a few minutes to sit and talk? We...we really haven't done that since we saw each other here." Truth be told, she missed all her family. She hoped to see them during their quest for peace. She hoped they would side with Katriana, understand her desires. Some odd feeling made her think they wouldn't understand, though. She was quite glad when Daeron showed up, but they had both been so busy that neither had time for the other.

"Yeah, sure, Glory." He smiled grew wider. It was a great knowing that he had a sibling that sorta understood him. Well, except Tally...but...well, she probably loved Cortell more anyway. He shrugged out thoughts about his brother; it got him riled up and he really enjoyed feeling happy for once. It was a great choice to have gone with Sachi. "Anything for my baby sis!" He ruffled her head. "Let's grab some food and just talk over there." He pointed to a shady spot in camp, one of the few in these desolate desert.

Glory smiled as Daeron agreed to spend some time with her. She went and grabbed some food, only a little hungry despite having eaten breakfast hours ago. Normally by this time she would be nearly fainting because of her magic practice. Perhaps Katriana would forgive her for skipping it one day. Otherwise, she would probably be practicing after sparring tonight, and getting very little sleep. She sat in the shady spot with her brother, smiling at him. "So, Katriana told me to ask various people this, and honestly I really do want to know from you: Why did you come here?" She had a slightly confused expression on her face. "Did something happen at home?" she wanted to know.

Daeron happily got food with Glory and perched himself next to her in the shade. He was eating some bread when she asked her question. He paused, mid chew, as he was forced to recollect the reason why he ran away. He placed the bread down and finished his bite before answering. He glanced out into the distance and was quiet for a moment. "Mother wouldn't let me come find you." He finally said. "They all got worried when you didn't go back to Bromsland. So, I wanted to go and help find you. Mother said no...and wanted me to follow Cortell's orders." He sneered out their brother's name. "Its always about Cortell...no one thinks I'm good enough because he's always there." He grumbled, finding his happy mood being distrupted now. "So I left. No one cared anyway." Daeron glanced at his sister. "Mother always just yelled at me to stay out of trouble. Father would just try to talk to me, but never listened. But never once did they seem to care about what I felt or what I wanted. It was always about Cortell; everybody loved Cortell." He clenched his fists and his jaw clenched. "Anyway, so I went to with Cort and my friends to the next town." He told her, feeling for once, a compulsion to tell the truth, to gain a bond with his sister. "That's when Sachi found me." He smiled lightly thinking about her. "She said I had potential and that Katriana would see it too and make me important...special." He picked up his bread, pulling a small part off to eat, "That's why I'm here, Glory; I can be special here when I would never be at home - I have purpose and I can make my own path. I'll forever be indebted to them for bringing me somewhere I feel like I belong." He honestly told her. "What about you, Glory? Why'd you leave Bromsland? You're the most talented of all of us; weren't you happy there? Was it that cuddling boy? I knew he was trouble!" Daeron growled out as he thought about Seth. "I'll tear him apart for toying with you!"

Gloriann listened as Daeron explained to her what had happened at home. She realized that Mom was probably worried when she disappeared. Why hadn't that crossed her mind before? Well, she was all right...Mom didn't have to worry. She also noticed the way he talked angrily about their elder brother. She shrugged. "I don't think Mom and Dad were very fair to you. Cortell's always been the responsible, respectful, perfect oldest. It's almost like, the rest of us can't measure up. Mom adores him..." She frowned, feeling a bit of shared jealousy when she thought of her other brother. She'd never thought much of it before. Glory eyed her brother's smile when he mentioned Sachiko finding him. She had a feeling she'd just found the source of his goofy grin. She felt a bit happy for him, although his choice in girlfriend worried her. If Sachiko hurt him, she swore to herself she would attack the girl with such a fierce magical attack she wouldn't know what hit her before she died. He turned the question around to her, and Glory had to think on it for a moment or two. "Cuddling boy?" she asked. "You mean Seth? No, he had nothing to do with it. He was actually the only think I liked about Bromsland. It was just so...boring there." She frowned as she recalled her time learning there. "They never taught me anything new. They never challenged me; I feel like they took too long to recognize me as a full Rider. "So when Eva and I came to the desert to look for brightsteel for our swords, Sundavar and I got seperated from them for a while. While we were looking, a woman showed up and we started talking; she told us that here in the desert, there was someone who could teach us what we wanted to learn, who would push us to our limits so we could continue to grow. I didn't know what to think of it at first. I thought it over long and hard. It wasn't until we made our swords and were on our way back to Bromsland that Sun and I decided to come here instead." She smiled genuinely at her brother. "It was the right choice," she told him. "I've been learning more here than I could possibly have imagined, and Sun's been as well." Despite the conviction of her statement, she felt a small twinge of guilt. Now that Daeron brought him up, she suddenly couldn't get Seth out of her mind. She missed him, a lot. She tried to remember the last conversation she had with him, right before she'd left. She knew they had been making plans of some sort, but she couldn't exactly recall what had been said.

Daeron snorted at the mention of Cortell being Mother's favorite. "Whatever, doesn't matter now. We're here and we're making something of ourselves that no one else can understand." He glanced over at the other members of the the army that were either training or gathering supplies about. "Yeah, that kid." Daeron felt no shame in showing his annoyance at Seth's name. He listened as she explained about Bromsland's lack of creativity for her. He nodded. "Yeah, I noticed that; you're a lot more powerful than when you took that exam." He stated with approval. "It's nice to see that you're appreciated and that kid, Seth, well, he must have been boring too if he didn't leave as well; no matter, I bet you'll find someone that appreciates you." He smiled at his sister and then proceeded to finish his meal. "You think Mom and Dad will understand? You know, Katriana's vision?" He asked after he finished eating, having pondered that question for some time. "Not a lot of people understand, and on all those skirmishes that I did, it seems like everyone thinks we're the bad guys; but Katriana says we're bringing peace." He furrowed his brow, seemingly confused on that.

Gloriann was annoyed by her brother's evident distaste for Seth. As far as she could tell, he was a terrible judge of character. He liked Sachi, for Kat's sake! Still, just the mention of Seth sent a sensation of regret through her. She still felt as if she was forgetting something important, but eventually shrugged it off as Daeron moved onto another topic. "I hope they see it, Ron," she told him. "I know Katriana's said some of us will have to fight against family and friends, because they don't believe in the peace we're trying to establish." She frowned, disliking the thought. "I don't want to fight either Mom or Dad. Especially not a serious fight against Mom. I know she'd beat me, no matter how much stronger I've gotten." She looked at Daeron with a confused expression at his last statement. "Why would people think we're the bad guys?" she asked. "Katriana wants to bring eternal peace; there's nothing evil about that." She knew she really wasn't aware of the situation outside the Shade's camp. She hadn't left since she arrived. Katriana told her it was important to train hard before leaving, so she would not be defeated by someone with much more practice.
