Tristan carefully helped Tenel Ka drink from the cup. He remained silent as he observed her, wondering what she was thinking and of course, wondering if she had regained her memories while she was gone. The look in her eyes were now one of familiarity to him, but they were also filled with immense sorrow. Was that the price of her memories - to lose Caedus and Romulus? What had happened? He found himself wondering as she finished drinking, but not as much as he would have liked her to have.
Tristan continued to study her as she spoke. Yes. Her memories had returned; a small smile formed when she addressed him as Cousin. The small slowly departed at her next words. There was only one reason Tenel Ka would ask such a question; she was more heartbroken that he thought. He desperately tried to hide the shock and fear in his expression as he addressed her. "Do not throw your life away so carelessly, Cousin." Tristan's voice was soft but firm, and filled with worry. "I don't know what happened...and I can't begin to understand what you are feeling...but please...don't..." His voice cracked a bit as he began to lose his reserve. The thought of Tenel Ka thinking of ending her life was unbearable to him. She was his cousin. His family. His friend. "...don't go down this path...I'm sorry...I'm so sorry...if I hadn't pushed you or withheld things from you..this...they...none of this would have happened....Cousin, I'm so sorry!" Tristan apologized profusely, the tears freeing themselves from his eyes. "Please...forgive me..." He bowed his head at her. "...please don't throw your life away...if a life must be forfeit, then it is mine...it is all my fault..." He sobbed, his head now buried beside her on the bed.

Tenel Ka sat limply as Tristan begged her forgiveness. He had pushed her so hard, but she knew now that he had been doing only what he had thought best, because he loved her. She probably would have done the same, though perhaps with more careful thinking. Tristan was always so emotional, ready at any moment to fall on his sword for her. Impulsive and quick to believe that his opinion was the right one. Even now, she knew that was his mindset. "Why would I ever have you sentenced to death, Tristan?" she asked softly, her hand stroking his hair. It was so odd; grief-stricken as she was, she was still comforting him. Just like back then, at the accident. "I've already lost the two most important people in my life. You still have Trinity. You have Teodora." Her eyes blanked and her voice became more monotonous. "Can you imagine killing them with your own hands? In cold blood? No...I personally destroyed my entire life. All that remains is for my shattered heart to cease its beating." Her eyes drifted slightly, settling on a satchel she had carried. In it she knew were her precious Emeralds, with which she had planned to depose Galbatorix and keep Ismalia safe. "Tristan...make sure you get the rest of the Emeralds, no matter what. They belong to us, and such power in..." her voice trailed. Such power. Power beyond the normal realms of magic and physics. What would all seven be capable of? The thought strayed through her mind, and for the first time, she felt some hope. She tried to stand, but lack of food and water left her in such a weakened state that she couldn't even lift herself off the bed. "Tris...Tristan, we have to claim those Emeralds..." she said. She would fix this disaster she had created, or she would die attempting it.

"You can't think that way, Tenel Ka!" Tristan stammered out through his tears at her confession of killing Caedus and Romulus; it must have been right before she regained her memories. "Think of them, you must not dishonor them by ending your life. You know they care for you, even until the end..." His voice trailed off when he spotted her eyes drift to the Emeralds. He had found them on her person and had placed them aside for her. He glanced back at Tenel Ka, noticing her thoughts churning in her mind. He spotted her movement, an indication that she was trying to stand. He got up quickly, wiped his tear stained face and tried to help her up. "We only need another, cousin and you will have them all." He informed her. She was not the only one that was busy during her time away. Tristan had worked effortlessly to find the Emeralds, fueled by his desire to help Tenel Ka gain her memories again. As luck would have it, one of Galbatorix's men had defected, escaping with one of the Emeralds.
Tristan had actually run into the man during one of their skirmishes to steal supplies from the Empire troops. The man was trying to not kill anyone, but at the time, Tristan didn't know and thus attacked him. The two battled it out before Tristan became victorious (Trinity got fed up and came to her Rider's aid). When the man lost, his person was searched and Tristan had discovered the silver Emerald. The man, named Dastan, was now being detained by the Varden troops, as he was once Varden, but turned traitor years ago. Tristan had gone by to see Dastan on several occassions, trying to gain information on the last Emerald that laid in Galbatorix' possession.
Tristan soon explained to Tenel Ka about the recovery of the Silver Emerald and Dastan. "He hasn't said anything since his capture, but I am certain it is a matter of time...he doesn't seem like he wants the war to continue..." Tristan told her, finishing his tale as he revealed the Silver Emerald to her and placed it with the other Emeralds. He brought the satchel to his cousin. "What are you planning to do with them?" He asked, finally getting to his main point. She better not be thinking of ending her life by those accursed things; another reason to hate them.

Tenel Ka stared at the Emeralds as Tristan brought them to her. She could feel the power radiating off them. The sight stole her breath away. She had never imagined what it would be like to see so many of them in one place. It was awe-inspiring. And it wasn't even complete yet. She looked back up at Tristna as he asked her what she was going to do with them. "I am going to correct this mess I've created," she told him firmly. She could do it. She had to believe she could. She thought for another few minutes. "I think I know where to find the last one," she said. She grimaced slightly. "We need to find that woman who tortured you twice. The only Emerald that is missing is the one she used on you."

Teodora stood carefully outside the tent, listening in on Tristan's conversation with the queen mother. Ever since her return, Tristan had been worried nearly to death. So, in fact, had she. Nights had been sleepless and stressful. She wrung her hands together now as she listened with her ear pressed against a crack in the tent flap. At the mention of Pyra, Teodora's eyes widened with fear and loathing. But they must find that woman. They had to save Tenal ka! But the poor woman had suffered so much. Even trying to imagine committing the murders Tenal Ka had made Teodora feel like retching. The emeralds... the emeralds would hold the solution to this nightmare. As much as Teodora wanted to barge into the tent and tell Tenal Ka they would find the emeralds, she left the Queen Mother and Tristan to themselves. Well, mostly to themselves. She remained at the tent, listening anxiously in.

OOC: I love how Teodora has no shame in eavesdropping. lol how I love her lol.
Tristan stared at Tenel Ka, reading her expression. Well, at least she no longer thought about ending her life. That was a good start. He wondered exactly how his cousin was going to manage fixing everything, but if any one could do it, it was she. His face nearly went pale at the mention of Pyra. Their last encounter came back fresh in his mind. He clenched his fists, but nodded at Tenel Ka. "Aye, she'll be the best place to start. We'll find the last emerald, cousin, and we'll help you fix this in any way possible. I...don't want you to suffer any more, and I'll do whatever i can to make up my mistakes to you. I...I just want you to be happy, cousin." Tristan's voice sincere and quiet as he spoke to her. "And I know Teodora feels the same; she's been worried about you too." He added, never forgetful of his fiancee. "Speaking of her, I'm sure she'll want to see you. Do you mind if I go and get her? That is, if you're up to more visitors?"

Tenel Ka nodded as Tristan agreed to look for the last Emerald with her. No matter what else happened, she would get it. She had to; her sanity and the lives of her dearests depended on it. As her mind drifted back to Romulus and Caedus, she felt the dark cloud threatening to gather in her mind again. Tears welled behind her dull gray eyes and for a moment she lost focus on what Tristan was saying until she realized he was asking her a question. "Oh...yes, I would like to see Teodora," she said. She couldn't hide the tremor in her voice. She was barely holding onto her rational thought right now, any moment going to slip back into her maddened state. If she didn't have others to think about, she would probably stay like that until she died of thirst. I will bring you back, my dear ones, she promised.

Tristan nodded. "I'll go and get her for you." He patted her hand gently and rose from his spot. He hadn't missed the sorrow that had eloped her while he was speaking, but perhaps it was to be expected. She missed them. He only hoped that she would be able to fix this and not become fixated. Death was a hard thing to mess with and it, but if it was meant to be, it was meant to be. You could not change fate...but only delay it. Tristan made way to the entrance of the tent, walking briefly by the fairth that Rom had given to Tenel Ka, along with her other books.
Flipping the flap open, he went to go look for Teodora, only to find her standing right there. "Teodora." He gave her a soft smile. "Perfect. Tenel Ka would like to see you." He assumed she was just coming to visit; eavesdropping was on the bottom of his list.
OOC: OH man, I love to torture people...lol

OOC: hehe
Tristan's voice lowered suddenly in the tent, making Teodora press her ear even closer to the thick fabric. She was distracted briefly by a soldier walking by, eying her oddly. Narrowing her eyes in a glare, Teodora scared the soldier on. Unfortunately it was enough to nearly get her caught by Tristan. Startled, she staggered backwards and clasped her hands behind her back. She was relieved when it seemed Tristan didn't realize her sneakiness. "And I would love to see her!" she said hastily. "I was just on my way to see if I could be of an assistance." Teodora reached out then and touched Tristan softly on the arm. "How is she though?" she asked, feining ignorance.

Tristan noticed Teodora's flustered appearance, but assumed it was from almost running into her. He was thankful that she hadn't yelled at him to be more careful. He smiled at her offer to be assistance. They would definitely need her to help search for Pyra and the final Emerald. His smile became more affectionate as he felt her hand touch his arm. He placed one hand on top of her's and the other on her cheek. "I honestly don't know, Teodora; I worry for her. She's lost Caedus and Romulus...I...cannot bear think of how she is feeling...to imagine you and Trinity dead...I..." Tristan shook his head, trying to rid himself of those thoughts. "She'll need time...and she has a plan to fix things. We'll need your help." He informed her as he withdrew his hand from her cheek. "Come, she'll like to see you; I think your presence will help her." He motioned to lead her into the tent.

Tenel Ka watched Tristan as he left the tent, her eyes not leaving him until he past a certain point. She fixed her gaze on the fairth Rom had made for her, and given to her back when she couldn't fully appreciate it. She now recalled the moment perfectly, when they were sitting together in the forest. She thought he put way too much emphasis upon her and not enough upon himself when he made it. She felt her resolve starting to crumble, now that Tristan wasn't present to hold on to her. She took a couple of shaky steps toward the picture, her entire being trembling from her weakened state. She reached her hand out to the fairth and held it close, while her eyes drifted to the books he had been reading with her. She could see how much he cared about her now, as she reflected on everything he had done. She had foolishly burned the goodbye letter he sent to her, but not before she had memorized it. She could tell the affection. How could she have done it? How could she have murdered him? The man she adored and loved, the one who loved her no matter what. And yet...she had cut him down without so much as a flutter of guilt or sorrow in her heart. She curled around on the floor, her head resting on the pile of books while she clutched the fairth to her chest, her sobs once again becoming hysterical. She knew she had to hold on, be strong in order to bring him back, which she vowed she would do or die trying, but right now, she couldn't help herself. She deserved to be the miserable wretch she felt like right now.

Teodora nodded, and the cautious steps into the tent she had been planning to make were forgotten when she heard the unnerving sound of Tenal Ka's sobbing. Dashing into the royal pavilion, Teodora knelt beside her queen and gently touched her shoulders. "Queen Mother! Snap out of it!" she said, trying to make her voice gentle as well, but there was stern edge to it. "Everything is going to be alright!" She insisted, shaking the Queen a bit to make her stop her scary crying. "Tenal Ka!" she said this time, daring blasphemy for speaking the Queens name. Of course, she was already shaking her. That probably didn't help with the blasphemy. "You don't deserve to feel sorry for yourself!" Teodora said, shaking her again, although she really didn't mean it. "What you have done you must bear until you can fix it! And fix it we will! Now pull yourself together, Queen Mother of Ismalia. We must find that last emerald so that you can put to rights the nightmare you now face. Tristan and I will be ever by your side. We will succeed."

OOC: lol Oh, Trinn, I think Teodora is the bomb! lol Oh, and um, ahem, poor TK...lol
Tristan followed Teodora quickly at the sound of Tenel Ka's hysterical sobs. Pain clenched his chest as he thought about the pain she must be enduring. He sighed, mostly out of habit, at Teodora's blunt, but truthful words. He knelt down beside Tenel Ka's unoccupied spot. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder, his eyes assessing her hand clinging to the fairth that was made for her. "It will be all right, Tenel Ka; you'll see them again - that I promise." He assured her. "Come. There is much to be done if we're going to track down that horrid woman..." Tristan sneered at the thought of Pyra. "And, I'm not leaving this tent until you are properly fed as well." He added, glancing over to the plate of food that was brought in earlier that day.

Tenel Ka was jerked out of her well of self-pity by violent shaking and yelling it took her a few moments to realize that it was Teodora, and with another second of processing, she heard what the woman was saying. She looked away from Teodora's eyes at the words, attempting to regain control over herself. "You are right. I do not deserve to feel sorry for myself. I deserve to be rotting in the worst kind of hell you can imagine, although I really can't think of worse than what I already am suffering." She forced herself to sit up, feeling Tristan's comforting hand on her shoulder. She shook her head; "It is just...I ki--" she forcibly stopped herself from saying it. If she did, she would fall back into her endless misery. The hell of having to relive the moments of killing her most beloved ones. So instead, she closed her eyes, took a few deep breaths, and attempted to regain her control. It was the most difficult thing she ever had to do in her life. "Tristan is right. We must find Pyra. We have to find that last Emerald." She eyed the food Tristan had set aside. The thought of food made her stomach turn over, but she knew she had to eat. She was literally starving right now. "Fine, Cousin. Have it your way. Although I am not certain I will be able to keep it down..."

Teodora glanced at the platter of food. It was all excellent fare, mouthwatering when the scent wafted to her nose. But the thought of having to face that evil wench Pyra made Teodora's appetite vanish. She felt very sorry for Tenal Ka. Walking over to the platter, Teodora selected a bun and said. "We all have to eat!" And hoping to encourage Tenal Ka, took a large bite of the unappetizing bun.
