Name: Jedidiah Finwësson
Age: 18
Attittude: Calm, Intelligent, Introspective, Slow to trust, Honest
Race: Half Human, Half Elf
Appearance: Jedidiah is a blue eyed red haired. The only noteworthy thing about his dress is the tunic he always wears. It is a simple brown deer skin tunic that was made for him by Ashton (See History). He wears it as a token of the friendship he once had with him.
Weapons: Edoc'sil is a green hand and a half sword. The hilt is composed of the purest silver, and had black leather wrapped around the grip. There is a single emerald in the pommel held by two silver ribs. The thin crossguard curves slightly towards the blade and while curved, it still has many sharp, angular points. Jedidiah also has a bow which he sang himself out of a willow tree.
History: Jedidiah was born of the elf Finwë and the human Sarah. Because he was the product of both a failed relationship and of two races, he never fit in with the elves, the humans, or even his own family. He was raised alone in Du Weldenvarden by his stoic father and never knew his mother, but his father always called her a drunkard and a sleeper. While in Du Weldenvarden, he learned the mysteries of nature, how to sing to plants, how to work minor spells, and how to hunt. One day, he asked his father what had happened to his mother, they had a fight in which it was revealed that his mother had secretly bed with many men while Finwë's mate, so he slew her out of anger and took their child. Devastated, Jedidiah fleed to the Spine and joined the priests of Arcaena. He felt like he needed a group of people to feel connected with, and for a time, he was happy.
While there, a young man his age took him under his wing and taught him the ways of the world. This boy's name was Ashton. They talked together, lived together, and as far as he believed, would die together. One day, however, his newfound peace would be shattered when while traveling with Ashton, he saw a small group of people. Ashton didn't notice them, and Jedidiah didn't tell him they were there. At night, while Ashton was asleep, he snuck over to their camp, only to helplessly watch as a group of assassins attacked, killed the travelers, and ransacked their belongings. They were clearly looking for something, but it was evident from the looks on their faces that they hadn't found it. When the assassins left, he snuck into the camp and examined the corpses. His fears were confirmed: there was no way his meager spellcasting abilities could save them. As he cast his mind about searching for any survivors, he felt a weak sign of something living. He followed it into one of the tents, and when he felt it under a chest, he dug out from under it. He had found a black crystal, as well as a dragon egg, one of a deep emerald hue. It was then that he realized the party had been a group from the Dragon Riders. He had heard that due to the Shades, the Dragon Riders would be sending groups protecting eggs to Alagaesia. He also realized that the assassins were minions of the Shade Rider. He was about to put the egg and flee before the assassins returned so he could warn others, when the egg twitched, cracked, and fell to pieces. He stretched his right hand out and as he touched the baby dragon's brow, he felt a spike of ice cold go up his arm. He realized, that he had become a Dragon Rider, and that he had to hide this from Ashton and the other members of his order. Then Jedidiah touched the black crystal, and an unstoppable force took control of his mind. After bouts of intense pain from the mental attack, the assault, almost grudgingly, subsided. The other mind introduced herself as Jura, the Eldunarí of a dragon long since dead. The dragon said he would teach him the ways of the Dragon Riders. He took the dragon and Eldunarí back to camp and hid it nearby, heartbroken, because he would have to betray his friend's trust, even as his family had betrayed his. He stayed in constant contact with the dragon, whom he had named Emeraldis, while he and Ashton returned to their monastery in the Spine. He visited Emeraldis daily when he was done with his duties as a monk. While he visited, Jura taught him how to fight with magic, with his mind, and with steel. The bond between him and Emeraldis strengthened, but so did Jedidiah's guilt of keeping a secret. Just when the guilt was too much, Ashton was excommunicated from the order. When Jedidiah asked why, he found out that virtouous, pure, and brave Ashton had lied to all the order, for he had had many affairs with women out of wedlock, stolen from many, and even beaten one of the children he had sired to death. Once again, his trust had been betrayed, so he ran away with Emeraldis and Jura, and when Jura urged him towards retribution on the likes of those who had hurt him, he dedicated himself to purging the world of evil like Ashton. He traveled northward due to rumors of Raz'ac, and when he found them, he slaughtered all of them. Jura was pleased, but Emeraldis was sickened by the destruction he and Jedidiah had wreaked, so he convinced Jedidiah to leave for the riders and have a formal training. This he did willingly, as he wanted to know more about the Riders, and he too was saddened by the things Jura had convinced him to do. Thus, their party left for New Doru Arabea, ready for a new story. When they arrived, Jedidiah and Emeraldis were taken in for entry into the order. They were sent to travel to Ellesmera for the making of Jedidiah's sword with chunks of brightsteel the Riders had found. Eventually, under the tutelage of Jura and their master, Fëanor, they finally became full members of the order. They believed they had finally found peace.
Roleplay Sample: Jedidiah reached the end of the hallway, only to see that it was a dead end. There was no way to escape the soldiers chasing him. Jura whispered to him to mercilessly slaughter them. He prepared as the soldiers rounded the corner, grasping Edoc'sil tightly in his right hand. When the soldiers rounded the corner, he cut down the first within a second, and then moments later, the next followed. He yelled, "Kveyka!" and several of the soldiers collapsed to the ground, burnt to a crisp in their heavy armour. The last soldier fell to the earth, begging for mercy. He was about to behead him, when Emeraldis' mind touched his. He then remembered it was only a complex training exercise set up by his master, Fëanor; it was all in his head. After putting the soldier to sleep, he examined the walls around him. He found a cobblestone marked by the glyph for observe cleverly disguised on the floor, and when he pressed it, segments of the ground descended to form a staircase into a secret passage way. He had to wonder though: why did Jura want the men dead when they were figments of his imagination?
Dragon Info: The dragon Jedidiah is bonded to is Emeraldis, Bane of the Lethrblaka. He will always know what to say at the right time, will always have advice for you, and is young in body yet ancient in mind. He is a healer of pain; he will know the best path for your life but will let you make the decision on your own. Emeraldis has a dry sense of humor and loves anything clever, be it a play on words, a trap, or an invention.
Jura: Jura is the Eldunarí of a black dragon. She is sadistic and vindictive, always willing to inflict pain. Her beliefs on justice are similar to Rorsach: if you sin, you must pay the price
