Name: Galadhros
Pronounced: (Gal-ah-thros)
Age: 37 (Winter)
Attitude:
Tending to be able to relate to other people’s problems, Galadhros will always try his best to stand by his friends until the end. He takes pride in his ability to give advice and be there for his friends, even if he has never been in at least half of the situations that his friends have. Sometimes, Galadhros can care too much; to the point of endangering his own mental stability. His stubbornness and compassion can often overrun any sense of his own dignity, causing him to try too hard to help those that are close to him. This often does more harm than good, as Galadhros will put other people’s mental and physical health before his own. Sometimes Galadhros has to separate himself from the drama of others so that he can focus on himself. There have been many times when Galadhros has gone into a depressed state because of how much of his friend’s troubles he took on, damaging himself in the process of helping others. Galadhros is very protective of the people he loves, and will fight tooth and claw for them to be happy and safe, and it does not just limit itself to emotional hardships.
Depending on the situation, Galadhros can be very persistent with certain things. He seldom backs down from an argument and tends to fight for what he believes in even if it ruins friendships. Galadhros has always been a fighter, and can become quite harsh and aggressive at times. Now, this does not mean that Galadhros is always right - everyone makes mistakes - and Galadhros knows this. However, he also believes that his way is the right way, even if this is not the case. When Galadhros knows that he is wrong, he has difficulty admitting it and will continue to argue even if it is a lost cause. He does not like apologising after he has made a mistake, as it makes him feel like more of an idiot than he already does. Galadhros can be quite ambitious at times, and will do anything within his power to get what he wants if he deems it worthy enough. His stubbornness cannot be matched in many cases, but is often beaten due to his slight sensitivity. Like everyone, Galadhros has his soft spots and can be quite hurt if the right words are used against him. Despite his stubbornness, Galadhros can be manipulated quite easily. The worst part about this is that Galadhros knows that he can be gullible at times, but so far has been able to do nothing to boost his confidence and stop this from happening. Galadhros tries to be strong and not let other people get to him, but sometimes just the right words are spoken that hit home, which often results in Galadhros lashing out in anger.
Along with his stubborn streak, Galadhros is quite pessimistic. He occasionally finds it difficult to find hope when things become tough. In his own mind, hope in certain situations can seem very unlikely, so why should he even bother getting his hopes up if he will just be pushed back down again? It is often better to stop what he is trying to do before getting hurt if he can see that it is hopeless in the first place. More often than not, Galadhros is told to smile more. He has never been the type of person that is happily bouncing off the walls and smiling at every little thing that happens in the day. No, he is more reasonable and practical. Why should Galadhros smile when there is no reason for him to do so? On top of this, Galadhros has a habit of giving in to peer pressure. His stubbornness is only good when he is feeling confident and with people that he is familiar with, otherwise he will remain quiet – quiet and brooding – always lost deep in his thoughts. Even though Galadhros may disagree with something, often he is too shy to say anything due to the fear of being yelled at. With close friends of course, things are different, but with people who are higher ranked than himself it is a lot more difficult for him to speak his mind. It may be a matter of respect, or it may be because this young man does not like confrontation. It can even get to the point where Galadhros will lie to get out of something to not get into trouble.
Above all else, Galadhros is a kind hearted young man. Of course, he is capable of hate just as much as the next person, but he can be very compassionate. As much as Galadhros tries his best to hide this side of him as to not appear weak, the young man struggles and those that are close to him know how to push his buttons. Galadhros does not like confrontation, nor does he like being yelled at or annoyed to the point of anger. This young man can certainly hold his own in a fight, but he would rather things not come to that if it can be avoided. Galadhros would prefer to avoid arguing, to the point where some things never go unsolved because he was too stubborn to do anything about it. Some call it pride, while others say that Galadhros is intelligent to some degree, trying not to get involved and keep to himself. Even though Galadhros can act confident when the situation calls for it, this young man would rather not lead or have to stand up in front of people, even if he is taller than most. He often doubts his own abilities, despite the fact that Galadhros is quite capable of leading groups of people, and even does take charge before he has noticed what he is going on. Galadhros offers advice to those that ask, and holds grudges against people that did him wrong. He never forgives, and he tries to forget but unfortunately, Galadhros tends to remember things that he would rather not.
However, Galadhros is not all kind words. As stated, he can hold grudges. When angry or upset, Galadhros can say rather harsh things that he may regret later. He is the type of man to dwell on the past, of what could have been or all the mistakes that he had ever made. In difficult situations, Galadhros has a bad habit of blaming himself, even when he can knows that this is not the case. He can be quite self-destructive, which may be why sometimes, Galadhros just wants to get into a fist fight, which is very out of character for this gentle giant. He is quite prone to being reckless, running at things head on like a bull at a gate, not fully thinking about the consequences until afterwards when it is too late. When it comes to his work both in the infirmary and as a candidate, Galadhros tends to be standing at a crossroad. He likes to do well, and can even be a little competitive at times, getting annoyed if he helps someone only to get a lesser mark. Galadhros has a habit of feeling that if he did not get the highest mark possible, that he is not good enough. In fact, thoughts of not being good enough swim around this young man’s head quite frequently, only adding to his doubts. On the other hand, Galadhros rather likes to laze around and not do much with his day. He has never been a morning person and prefers to sleep for as long as possible, even though Galadhros does his best work early in the day.
Galadhros is quite interested in the world around him. He likes to know how things work, how things tick, especially when it comes to wounds and diseases. This young man has always been a visual learner, and prefers to learn by doing as opposed to just writing notes. Often, he will draw diagrams and arrows linking one point to the next. Galadhros is a quick thinker, and often does or learns in a different way compared to other people. He can be quite resourceful at times, overcoming difficulties in ways that someone else might not even think of and offering hypothetical solutions to help either himself or others. Being intelligent does have it downfalls, however. Even though Galadhros is rather book smart and practical, he can be quite hopeless when it comes to day to day tasks. He often misses the obvious point of a metaphor, or a pun might fly over his head for a moment until he understands. The simplest task might be difficult for him due to a lack of understanding. Those close to Galadhros often say that he is book-smart, but can lack common sense. This of course, often gets Galadhros into trouble because the answer was not clear, or he thought he knew what he was doing but was completely wrong. Like most people, Galadhros is a complicated soul, and knows that he is not perfect. However, Galadhros his trying his best to work on his imperfections and become a better person.
Race: Half-Elf
Appearance: The first thing that people notice about Galadhros is his height. Standing at a tiny 5’0”, Galadhros tends to confuse people about his age on a daily basis. His overall build is more of an average build. Of course, he does work out when he can and has built up his fair share of muscle, but he is not a complete beast and still has a small layer of fat to his physique. Galadhros has a quite lean build, with a healthy level of both muscle and fat, but not enough to appear to be incredibly tough – although he is quite proud of his small six pack. Words to describe Galadhros are often akin to that of a gentle, kind person who does have a habit of lashing out, much to the amusement of those taller than himself. Galadhros gives quite warm and safe hugs when he becomes close enough to someone to offer such a gesture. His arms, legs and chest are not as hairy as some men that he knows, but he is much harrier than any woman of his age and size. Galadhros is quite proud of the dark hair that he can manage to grow, especially on his face.
Dark brows sit quite comfortably above dull blue/grey eyes which seem to be filled with kindness, along with its fair share of sorrow. An interesting aspect of Galadhros’s eyes are the fact that his inner irises are gold in colour. He has a strong jawline and a rather sharp nose above full lips. Galadhros does not like to keep his face unshaven as it makes him look younger than he already feels due to his short height. Thus, Galadhros often allows his auburn/brownish stubble to grow, however he does not let it grow into a fully-fledged beard due to the itchiness of it all. There are often bags under his eyes due to lack of sleep, but Galadhros tries his best to not let this tell his whole story. Galadhros keeps his thick, mousy brown hair long and layered, with a side fringe often covering his right eye. Golden highlights run through his hair from spending time outside in the sun, although that might be from his father’s side who was human. Light freckling cascade down his arms, and to a lesser extent, his face. Due to his elven lineage, Galadhros’s ears are slightly pointed, sitting somewhere between that of a human and an elf.
Generally, Galadhros wears the most comfortable clothing that he can find. He is not too fussy with what he wears, but prefers slim pants and boots, but will wear shorts in the warmer months. On the top half of his body, Galadhros can be found wearing a multitude of attire – t-shirts, long sleeved shirts, singlets, tunics – he will wear anything that compliments his body – usually blacks, greys, whites, reds and blues. Naturally, this young man prefers to wear singlets and shirts as he can show off his arm muscles and chest, even though he is not as muscular or big as other men. In the colder times of the year, Galadhros will wear a thick black trench coat of sorts, finding it to be a lot more comfortable that fur. For formal events, Galadhros sports a slim fitting dress shirt with a vest, along with black pants and plain boots. Galadhros tries to take pride in his appearance, but he cannot help but feel like it’s too much effort on some days and does whatever feels the most comfortable. Armour wise, Galadhros is quite fond of everything leather with black feathers to spice up his look. Belts, buckles, coats and especially boots. Naturally, Galadhros ensures to wear chainmail underneath his leather garb for that extra level of protection.
Allegiance: Shade Uprising; Neutral
Weapons: Crossbow, dagger, magic, saw spear.
Other Info: Asexual.
History: Galadhros’s tale is quite a tragic one, to say the least. He never knew his father, who had been a human and had died shortly after his birth. This resulted in Galadhros being raised by his mother who was quite a beautiful dark haired elf. Galadhros’s father had been in his middle years of life when his son had been born, and had taken ill. Unfortunately, his mother could not save his frail body from the cold embrace of death. From a young age, Galadhros grasped magic quite easily. Although he was slower and weaker than the other elves, he at least was able to produce magic which was a lot more than human children could do. During the battles to save Alegaesia from Galbatorix, his mother fought against the common enemy while Galadhros stayed back at Du Weldenvarden as he was not strong enough to fight alongside her. Unfortunately, she lost her life only months before the Varden won. Now without the protection of his mother, Galadhros no longer felt as safe as he did among the elves. He felt like an outsider even though he had been born there like the rest of them. In the dark of the night, Galadhros gathered his belongings and left, traveling by horseback to the cities of man.
Leaving the safety of his elven home was quite a life changing experience for the half-elf. It did not take long for Galadhros to find that he was not very welcome in human cities and towns either, so he took to hiding his pointed ears with either a small spell or a hooded cloak. It took him many years to settle down into some sort of pattern, taking on mercenary work and thievery at first before then moving on to bounty hunting and even assassinations at times. He needed a way to make money in order to live alongside the humans, even if he chose a darker path and remained in the shadows. Galadhros’s solitude from emotional connections around him and his lack of desire to do anything started to affect his mental state, coupled by his longer life and watching those his age grow older. He found that he had little purpose, but knew deep in his heart that his mother would not want him to give in so easily.
Deciding to pack his things and travel once again, Galadhros took to the road, crossbow on his back and dagger in his belt. Word spread to his ears of the Uprising, an army full of assassins and thieves led by a shade dragonrider. Even though Galadhros did not want to deal with those kind of people, he felt drawn to their cause. He had always been interested in dragonriders and shades, to hear of someone who was both fascinated the young half-elf. Galadhros was not entirely proud of what he had done in the past, but could not deny that he had an underlying longing for bloodlust and action. Galadhros did not even have to seek out this army, as they came to him, welcoming the half-elf to their family of assassins, shades and magic-users. Galadhros had a strong belief that both sides of war had their own stories and that there was never a truly good or evil person, except for perhaps a shade of course but they could not help it. One day, Galadhros’s understanding nature would be his downfall. Besides, some people deserved to be punished.
Role Play Sample: Leaning against the wall in the inn, Galadhros took a drink of his liquor, eyes darting from underneath his hat. He had already found his target, and was merely lying in wait to take them out. Galadhros cared not for why he was targeting this man in particular, but that were his orders. He would not dare question those higher ranked than him less he be killed. Taking another sip, Galadhros watched as the man known as Alastair made eye contact with him, grabbed a glass of beer and strode over to sit opposite him. Galadhros had never been the type to flirt or initiate conversations, but once they had started, he found that the words rolled quite easily off the tongue.
“I noticed you keeping an eye on me. What’s the occasion?” Alastair asked, raising a brow as he took a gulp of the beer in his hand.
“How could I not?” Galadhros replied smoothly, blue/grey eyes darting over his target’s face.
The two men talked for a bit, Galadhros being sure to never let down his guard and keep the small talk going. It would seem from only a few minutes that Alastair was attracted to the same sex. This was something Galadhros could work with to gain the upper hand. Even though Alastair seemed like a nice young man, and it churned his stomach to think about what had to be done, but Galadhros knew where his loyalties lie. He knew that he could never grow attached to anyone, be it friend or foe. Colleague or target. Because in the end, everyone died so what was the point?
“Why don’t you come up to my room?” Alastair asked, his bright green eyes glinting in the dim light.
“I would be honoured,” Galadhros replied, taking the last sip of his drink before standing. He ignored the obligatory surprise that Alastair had in regard to his height, having been used to such reactions. It did not seem to faze the taller man, and the pair walked up the stairs to Alastair’s room. Usually, Galadhros would sneak through the window and kill his target in their sleep, but where was the fun in that?
Once the door was shut, Galadhros was a little surprised by the fact that Alastair leaned in for a kiss. Going with it, Galadhros kissed the man back one hand behind Alastair’s back and the other on his belt. Good, at least Alastair was distracted. One of the good things about being asexual was that unlike a lot of people, he was rather detached from these kinds of situations. Despite Galadhros feeling like Alastair was a decent person, he had a job to do and he was planning on getting it done and done quickly. Before they reached the bed, Alastair was dead on the floor, blood oozing out from the stab wound through his back and into his heart. Rolling Alastair onto his back, lifeless eyes staring at the ceiling, Galadhros shook his head. Alastair had been quite pretty for a target. He had been doing this for years, and luckily his main personality traits did not tend to show when Galadhros was busy working. He searched the body for any coin and valuables before doing a quick scout of the room.
It was then that Galadhros found something very odd indeed. Underneath the bed was an interesting looking chest, one that you would not expect to find in an inn such as this. Quietly, Galadhros pulled the chest out from under the bed and found that it was locked. Muttering under his breath and waving his hand over the lock, magic surged through his fingertips as the lock clicked. Opening the lid of the chest revealed a worn looking sack with something round within. Moving cautiously, Galadhros turned the object over and pulled away some of the sack to reveal a mild blue surface, covered in a white spider-web like pattern. Galadhros was an intelligent half-elf, and knew straight away that this was a dragon egg, most likely stolen. Well then, it was going to be stolen again. Galadhros was sure that his masters would be glad to have this in their hands.
That is, if it didn’t hatch before he got there.

Name: Kaleth
Age: Newborn (Autumn)
Gender: Male
Colour: Blue (01717E)
Race: Dragon
Physical Description: Quite small for his age, Kaleth makes up for his small size with speed and stealth. The majority of his blue scaly hide is a mild teal in colour which is quite pleasing to the eye. This colour is unbroken, save for the bright medium blue that splashed on his headknobs, neck and back ridges, feet and his tail forks. On top of this, Kaleth’s shoulders and thighs have broken patterns of the very same medium blue, which only contrast with the rest of his hide. This striking young dragon sometimes reminds one of a dark stormy night over a small body of water, or at least that is what his rider likens him to. Kaleth looks especially pretty under moonlight, his dark blue scales glinting silver in the darkness. Long, dark spines start to form in the middle of his snout, going up his face down his neck that finally dissipate near the end of his tail. Matching his back spines, three small spines protrude from his jawline.
Personality: Ebullient, calculating, obedient
Unlike his rider, Kaleth never fails to see the positive aspects of most if not all situations. Kaleth is quite a cheerful young blue, with more energy than one would think his small build would be capable of. He is often running around the weyr wanting to do things and make the most of his day much to the annoyance of his rider. Kaleth is calculating in both his actions and words, ensuring that every move he makes is perfect. This little blue does not like making mistakes and would much prefer to have control of a situation. Kaleth can be a scheming little tailfork when he wants to be, he always almost seems to be plotting something for him and his rider to do. Despite this, Kaleth does what he is told and is willing to comply to the demands of authority figures.
