Character's name: Nathaniel Walken
Character's age: 27
Character's attitude: Sharp as his sword, Nathaniel is creative, intuitive, stubborn, adventurous, a thrill seeker, honest, and fair. Rough when he must be, he lives by his own moral and honor code and strives to give good judgment concerning his crew and innocent victims. He has become a good judge of character; if he hadn't he would have died long ago.
Character's Race: Human
Character's appearance: Well built, tanned, slightly scruffy (but shaves occasionally). His eyes matches the greenish blue color of the sea and his hair the color of a sandy beach. He has a scar across his chest from a battle that occurred a decade ago. He wears black pants, a black belt that holds his sword, and a red jacket (minus the shoulder tassels in the pic). He also wears a black bandanna over his hair to keep it from his face.
Character's allegiance: Neutral, to his crew.
Weapons: A hand and a half sword given to him by the previous Captain of the Aurora. It has a gold hilt with two rubies on both sides. He also carries two daggers. One is hidden in his boot and the other behind his back.
Other Info: He just wants to be free to ride the waves and have the wind in his face.
History: Born at sea, Nathaniel was meant to conquer all the waters of Alagaesia. His pedigree is humble but honest as his father was a simple fisherman and his mother a pilgrim missionary from Surda. His mother gave birth to him while they were traveling to the Teirm. Shortly after his birth, the ship his parents were on was raided by pirates, killing all those on board, but somehow missed the babe who was sleeping and was placed in a small chest by his father in order to protect him.
He was found, hours later, by a Captain Bartholomew Walken of the pirate ship Aurora. Taking pity on the newborn, the Captain raised him and taught him the life of a sailor and pirate. Nathaniel proved to be a sure investment as he raised in ranks quickly and brought in much gold and renown for his Captain. At the age of 15, Nathaniel became 1st mate of the Aurora and at the age of 17, became its Captain after his surrogate father mysteriously died in a fierce battle with one of the Empire's naval battleships.
He refuses to talk with anyone about the battle or the long scar across his chest that he bore when he emerged from the battle. Although the Aurora emerged victorious from the battle, it had lost most of its crew and Nathaniel had to fight his way through rumors of his hand being involved in his father's death. After months of recruiting new members to the Aurora, Nathaniel finally was able to win full, unquestioned loyalty (the evasion of Imperial naval ships and the plundering of a lot of merchant ships helped too...).
After his crowning as Captain, Nathaniel vowed to continue his father's work and ethics and quickly earned his new crew's loyalty.
Role Play Sample: With the wind ruffling his hair and the sweet taste of sea salt in his mouth, Nathan glimpsed at the horizon as he stood atop the main topsail, reveling in his sanctuary. This is where I belong. He thought to himself as he held onto a gaff. Glancing down to the deck, he spotted his crew working. He quickly spotted Elle, who was hard to miss with her feminine looks amongst the male personnel on board. He smirked. That woman was a heck of a sailor; her instincts proved beneficial whenever he was in a tight jam. He glanced around further, noting other members, particularity Dove, who had been with him since he was under his father, Captain Walken. He frowned slightly, acknowledging that a decade had passed since he became Captain...and that blasted Navy ship attacked. His lip twitched, remembering the look of horror on his father's face before he died. Shaking off the memory, Nathan looked over to some distant clouds.
"OY! Look sharp, men! A storm be brewing!" He then laughed and slid down the mast with the gaff. "Elle! Get the cannons secured! Dove! To the rudder! One-eyed-Jack! Lifelines! This is going to be a fun race!" He laughed manically as he took his position at the wheel.
