Violent only when necessary and graceful and compassionate in her daily life. She is smart, wise, calculative, and quick. As a representative of her people, she is polite but will be forceful when the occasion demands it. She does her best to do what she "believes" is right and beneficial to all. She cares deeply for all, especially for Eragon, for he had saved her life; out of duty and friendship, she is in his debt.
Character's Race: Elf
Character's appearance: Of stunning beauty, she displays long raven hair, dark green eyes, and is "taller than most men". Usually she wears black leather clothing and a leather strap across her brow to hold back her hair, and wields and elven bow and slender sword. However, she is known to wear the Elven tunics whenever she is in Ellesmera.
Character's allegiance: The Elves, The Varden, and Dragons
Weapons: Arya wields a slender sword that she keeps at her waist and an Elven bow that she places on her back. She also excels in magic.
Other Info: She is the daughter of Queen Islanzadi and King Evandar (Died in the Rider's War). She was also the egg carrier between the Elves and the Varden for 15 years, before the egg found its way to Eragon.
History: She was born a year before the Fall of the Riders to King Evandar and Queen Islanzadi of the House of Dröttning. For her support of the Varden and its cause, she was banned from the Queen's presence, therefore causing a rift between her and her mother. The elven ambassador to the Varden for seven decades, Arya was thus appointed as courier of the a dragon egg that was retrieved from Galbatorix's castle by Brom, and spent 15 years conveying the egg back and forth from Farthen Dûr to Ellesméra, in the hopes that eventually a new Dragon Rider would be found.
During one of her trips, she was captured by the Shade Durza, but not before sending the egg to Brom, who was in Caravhall. However, the human boy Eragon stumbled upon it in the Spine, and the egg hatched for him.
In the clutches of the Shade, Arya endure immense torture. During her time as an egg carrier, she grew accustomed to Saphira's presence and would unconsciously scry for her and thus enabled Eragon to see her on occasion in his dreams, for Saphira was with him.
In Gil'ead, Eragon and Murtagh rescued Arya and healed her wounds, but she remained in a comatose state in order to battle a poison that was given to her by the Shade. Entering her mind, Eragon was able to learn of the Varden's location and thus traveled in order to save Arya and gain refuge as a Rider.
With the Varden, Arya recovered and tested Eragon in swordsmenship. Devoted to him out of duty for him saving her and a growing friendship, Eragon develops a romantic attraction for her, which she rejects because of his youth and for her duty as a ambassador and his as a Rider.
She fights alongside Eragon in the battle to save the Varden. She breaks the Isidar Mithrim with magic and distracted Durza long enough for Eragon to kill him. She travels with Eragon to Ellesmera, in order for him to train as a Dragon Rider and to gain the support of the elves; they withdrew their support when they thought Arya was dead. She teaches Eragon the proper ways of the elves and is found to be the heir to the throne; though she is indecisive in claiming it - she is devoted to the Varden cause, but also to her people, thus making her decision difficult.
She reconciles with her mother when she is in Ellesmera. She withdraws her friendship when Eragon pursues her, and leaves to help the Varden in the battle of the Burning Plains after the Blood-Oath Celebration. Although before the battle, they manage to reclaim some of their previous relationship. She is one of the first to learn that Morzan is Eragon's father and that Murtagh is the new Rider.
Now she continues to help the Varden in any way she can as she anticipates Eragon and Saphira return from their search for the Vault of Souls, in order to reestablish their friendship and to fight for the Varden.
Role Play Sample: Stunned by the new revelation that Eragon is Morzan's son and that Murtagh is alive as a new Dragon Rider for Galbatorix, Arya paced silently in her tent. Weak and tired from the battle of Burning Plains, though the elf showed no sign of it, she thought about what Eragon might be going through.
This new information could prove deadly to the Varden and for Eragon, so she knew it was best to keep quiet. Although, she knew in her heart that Eragon was nothing like Morzan; his heart was too pure and innocent, but not many would believe that if they learn of it.
Anger boiled within her as she thought about Eragon's ill fated past.
His heart is too pure to be tainted by that much evil. Shame upon those who would believe otherwise.
Arya suddenly felt a presence within her tent.
"Forgive me, Arya, but your presence is requested in Lady Nausada's tent." A simple boy bowed his head as he delived his message.
Arya hid a sigh. There was still much to do, despite this revelation of Eragon's heritage, for a new Rider has emerged. She knew that for the Varden to win, Eragon would have to gain more power, and quickly. She wondered if he would seek out the Vault of Souls, like he told her that Solumbaum told him to do.
Now would be a good time as any, though we would be at a great disadvantage while he is away.
"Thank you." She told the boy and left to go see what Nasuada wanted.
As she walked to the tent, she heard a wisping sound in the air. It was quiet at first, so no one else could hear it, unless they were an elf. She glanced up into the sky and saw a large dragon descending upon them.
Her eyes widened as the dragon landed in front of Arya and Nasuada's tent. Lady Nasuada and the others retreated from their tents, amazed as much as she was.
"I have come to bring hope." The dragon said to Arya and Nasuada, as he revealed 20 dragon eggs in his mighty claws.
