OOC: don't mind me, I'm just making a new thread. This one's gonna have a lot of flashbacks. lol Marola sat in her room, staring out her window. Rauthr was sleeping nearby. She felt she should get some sleep as well, but wasn't tired at the moment. She was wide awake as memories from years before flooded through her mind. FLASHBACK: A much younger and slightly more cheerful, if less loving, Marola was sitting in the dining room. Ten years had passed since her father's death. For the first few years--until she was ten, in fact--she had been simply raised in Uru'baen. When she became ten, she made known her promise to avenge her father. When this reached the king's ears, he ordered that she be trained extensively in the ways of the assassins and spies. She proved a good student. It was discovered that she could even use very small ammounts of magic. So for the next seven years, she trained. And now she had just returned from her first official assignment on her own. It had been simple enough. THere was a Varden spy in their midst and she was ordered to take him out. She had completed the assignment in less than three days. Now she sat by herself in the dining room, quietly observing the others in the room. She wondered when she would get a new assignment. END. Marola stared up at the sky, remembering those days with both longing and dread. Soon after that, she had made a long run of horrible mistakes that would stay with her for the rest of her life.

OOC: I would say she was in Uru'baen...but with all that's happened since I made this thread, she may very well be in Gil'ead. lol. Pick a place! lol.

Amry was lost, and she, in her three-year-old-mind, knew it. Tears rolled down her know pale cheeks as she wandered the streets, looking for her mother. "Mommy," she whimpered. She came across a large mansion and stopped. "Pretty," she murmured after a minute of staring. "mommy, are you there?" she called out.

Marola started when she heard a child's voice call out just outside the mansion. She glanced out the window and saw a three-year-old girl looking up. Her eyes softened at the sight of the child. What are you doing, wandering the streets at night? she wondered. She was about to head outside when she heard Cortell crying. She walked over to him and lifted her baby son out of his cradle, quieting him as she walked outside. She smiled at the little girl. "Hello, there," she said softly to the girl.

Amry's shoulders slumped when she realized it wasn't her mother. "You're not Mommy," she said, tears welling in her eyes again. "Do you know where she is?" The tears leaked out, and Amry started crying.

Marola's heart welled up in pity for the child. At the sight of the girl's tear, Marola turned and called one of her servants. "Hannah," she called, handing the older woman the baby in her arms, "watch after Cortell. I'll be back soon." Hannah nodded and took the boy back into the house. Marola knelt next to the sobbing girl. "I don't know where she is," she told the child, "but I'll help you find her, okay?"

Amry wiped her eyes and sniffed, then wiped her nose. "Ok. I'm Amry," she said. "You'll help me find Mommy?"

"Of course I'll help you find your mother, Amry," Marola said, giving the girl a warm smile. "What's her name?" OOC: lol, I have a prediction on what she will say, but I want to see you say it. lol!

"Mommy," Amry replied in true little kid fashion. She smiled a little up at Marola.

OOC: I knew it! lol. Marola kept herself from giving out an exaperated sigh. She stood and reached for Amry's hand. "Okay, Amry. Let's go find your mommy together. Do you remember where you were the last time you saw her?"

OOC" Actually, before you said something, I might not have had her say that. But it works. lol
Amry thought for a minute. "Umm, I think I saw her over there." She pointed back the way she came, then looked up at Marola. "But it's dark, and I'm scared, and I want Mommy!" She started crying again.

"Shh...shh, it'll be okay," Marola told Amry, picking her up and holding her, trying to calm her down, "We'll find her and I won't let anything happen to you. Don't cry, it'll be fine." She started walking in the direction the girl had pointed in. She thought it strange how before Cortell was born, she would never have even bothered to help the child. Now her motherish instincts were kicking in and she hated to see the sweet little girl cry. "Look around and tell me if you see her, okay?" she told Amry, then whispered, "Garjzla, iet tauthr." A soft light began to shine in the streets, showing just enough for them to see some thirty yards down the street. The light followed her as she walked.

Marian noticed that Amry was missing before the nurse told her. Some mother-instinct, she supposed. But she couldn't leave yet, for she had yet to sing the final song in celebration of the wedding. The minutes it was over, however, she took off, pausing only to congratulate the married couple. She paused at a the closest crossroads from the far, looking down each road. "I wish Duen would have more attentive," she said, and then sighed. "Amry, where are you?"
She chose a road and ran down it, calling out the name of her beloved child.
***********************
Amry nodded. "Ok." She reached up to the light and whispered, "Pretty." She felt safe in Marola's arms, and calmed down a bit.

OOC: now it's time to make some evil history! MWAHAHAHAHA!!! Marola walked through the streets, smiling and talking to Amry, keeping a look out for the girl's mother. When she heard someone calling out Amry's name, she turned and walked toward the voice. She stopped dead in her tracks when she sighted the source. FLASHBACK: At the age of twenty, nearly three years ago, Marola had been given another assignment. The Black Hand was making experiments to create eternally loyal soldiers in the next generation. Some of the children were tricked into coming. Others, such as this one, had to be captured and sent to the Black Hand. Marola's job was simple: go to a certain house, kidnap the infant girl there, and take her to the agents. She had sneaked into the house without any problem. She stood in the room where the child lay sleeping and was about to pick her up and spirit her out of the city. But before she was able to so much as touch the child, the door opened and a woman of seventeen walked in. Marola locked eyes with her... END. Marola stared at the woman calling out for Amry, unable to move for several minutes. Then, shaking herself, she put the girl on the ground saying, "I think I see your mommy. See? Right over there." She was not eager to meet the woman after their confrontation three years ago. OOC: and now we have more explanation on what they were doing to River. lol.
