Max quickly reached over, gently holding Marola down. "I was int he Beors with.....with Teinaava. We'd never been there and wanted to see them, so....we made a little trip. We were there with Allanon. "While we were flying, we stumbled upon a huge group of Fanghurs and......they attacked us. Me and Teinaava got separated from Allanon and.....the Fanghur split up to chase us. I didn't know where I was goiing, though. we were just tring to get away from the Fanghur. I didn't even realize this was Surda."

Marola lay back at Max's gentle push. "Teinaava...so that is his name," she said softly, watching the dragon as he fought off the Fanghur. "I think it suits him. I wish you could have trusted me enough to tell me about him yourself, but under the circumstances, I understand." She focused back on her friend. "But please know that I would never turn you over to Galbatorix. I don't want that kind of fate for you..." She trailed off, thought mentally added, A fate that is little better than slavery.

"I'm sorry I kept it from you, Rolie," he said, "But, I know about what Galbatorix does. He makes those under his employ swear an oath in the Ancient Language to serve him, right? He can make them do whatever he wants, I'm sure. I just.....didn't want you to be in the position to be able to betray me, even against your will. "But....still....are you okay? You fell a long way," he said, looking at her with some concern.

She gave Max a slightly annoyed look at his question. "Yeah, I fell a long way. Woulda fallen farther if the ground didn't break my fall. Someone must have healed me, but I'm still sore all over, and I'm mad. I lost my sword and one of my daggers. I'm most definately not all right."

"At least you have your life," Max said, smiling down at her and breathing a sigh of relief as he heard the annoyance in her voice. She was most definitely going to be fine,"I'm just glad you didn't die. If you had....I don't know if I could've lived with myself."

OOC: Oh, sorry Arwyn. Forget Eragon was waiting for Nasuada's go-ahead.
Nasuada looked to Eragon, who was cleary anxious to go help his fellow riders. Still, she always felt a pang of unease when he entered into anything dangerous. Reminding herself that he was no longer the only rider for the varden, she took a deep breath and folded her hands. "Yes, Eragon. Go to the aid of our fellows." She hesitated then added, "Be careful. I know you are no longer unique, but I would nontheless be devestated if something befell you." She wondered if it was folly to voice her opinions with the nighthawks present. Bah, let them hear. If anything, she was a leader concerned for the life of her vessel, her rider. He was her's by the oath of fealty. She almost said something of it, but thought better and remained silent.

Einar's head snapped up when Stigandr bolted away from the castle. What the...? There is an enemy attacking another rider. Friend or foe, I know not Stigandr told Einar, referring to the rider. Be careful! Einar told Stigandr as the silver beast charged at the nearest over-larged lizard birds.
Einar felt helpless as he watched Stigandr tear into the beasts with his mighty maw and talons. He grinded his teeth, wanting to do more, but knew he needed to trust in Stigandr.
*** Arya heard the bugle and snapped her head towards the window. "Never a dull moment, as you humans would say." Arya lips were thin as she cracked the small joke and bolted to the courtyard, glancing a quick look at Eragon as she did.
*** Faolan and Tara heard the alarm and rushed out to see a sky battle burning across the sky.

Eragon sprinted with inhuman speed into the courtyard. As Saphira had said the little creatures zoomed around. Saphira landed and Eragon vaulted onto her back. He drew Brisingr. Saphira rose to the air and let loose a stream of fire, roasting one of the creatures and making it shreik horridly.

Zak held his hand about an inch from Rauthr's wing, then whispered the words to mend his broken bones. The bones crumpled back together in perfect condition. Zak patted Rauthr's side, marveling as his calmness, then sat down beside him, not really wanting Marola to notice him.

Rauthr let out a draconic grunt as the bones in his wing melded together back in place. It hurt, but he didn't care about the pain. He nosed his way over to Marola and Max, eyeing the man carefully. So you're the human my Rider has been so smitten with, he said, to Marola's horror. "Rauthr!" she said, this time sitting up despite the pain, "Max is just a friend of mine. He was my closest friend when I was a child and I've only just met him again!" Rauthr let out a dragon-laugh at that. You were all she could talk about for three days after you left, and all that was on her mind. Marola wanted to slap the dragon, and would have had she known where it would hurt the most.

Max laughed at the dragon's comments, turning back to Marola and raising an eyebrow. "So, since we parted at Gil'ead, I was all you could talk about for three days and all you could think about, huh?" he said, grinning and laughing,"Look, we can save this discussion for another time. Right now, I'm going to get you out of here, okay, Marola?" He stood and bent down, putting his arms underneath her. "This'll likely hurt, but bear with me, okay?" he said to her quietly as he gently picked her up, carrying her,"Okay...uh....Rolie's dragon? Um.....I'm going to carry her back, away from these Fanghur. I don't think she's in any condition to ride you right now. Maybe the Varden can help us out."

Marola felt sore as Maxwell picked her up, but didn't complain. She was still mad at Rauthr, and, though she didn't know it, her face was as red as a beet. Yes, I agree. I don't want her jumping off me anymore, Rauthr said to Max, ignoring Marola's glares, Take care of her, and make sure this one follows you, he nudged Zak forward. My name is Rauthr, by the way. "The Varden aren't likely to help me in any way," Marola said with a grunt, "I just finished giving the entire lot of them every reason to hate my guts."

Eridor barrel rolled through the sky, dodging one of the smaller winged beats. As Elaine hung upside down, she spotted Marola belind carried away by the rider of the golden dragon. Before she could see more, Eridor was right side up again, and she was faced with another Fanghur. "Jeirda!" she said, breaking the things neck. The carcass fell heavily towards earth. It was then she noticed Saphira, a jet of blue fire swirling from her mouth. Eridor bugled, elated that he could share the battle with the female dragon. Elaine too felt honored. She was jostled in the saddle as Eridor reached and grabbed the wing of a passing Fanghur. With a heave, he ripped the beast in two.

Saphira clawed one of the beasts and sent its carcass hurtling towards the earth. Eragon grinned as he though of something. Saphira, I'm going to jump. Just like I did at the burning plains. Very well. Thank you for telling me first. Eragon grinned even wider. Your welcome. With a grunt he sprang from the saddle. He felt the wind rushing by. His eyes watered and he had to concentrate on his target. He landed on one of the creatures and seperated its head from its body. He lept off the falling thing and Saphira caught him. Maybe if we planned that out when we fought Murtagh, it would work out like that. I highly doubt you can use your sword to chop off Thorn's head. True.
