Other Info: She is currently suffering from memory loss and is living in Teirm as an assistant to a ship merchant.
History: Born in Gil'ead, Tara traveled from town to town with her parents because of their profession as traders. During her years with her parents, she was happy and content with her life. However, these times were not meant to be, for when she was 8 years old, her family's trading caravan was attacked by Urgals. To protect her, her father hid her among the trees, as he tried to fend off the Urgals. Unfortunately, the Urgals were too much and slaughter Tara's father, mother, and a few others that were among the traders.
Alone and lost, Tara learned to fend for herself among the traders and cities that she encountered. She finally settled in Teirm, where she became a thief and a pick pocketer; stealing only what she needed to survive.
One day, as she tried to pick a man's pocket, she was caught by the man, who turned out to be a skilled swordsmen and fighter; he was one of the Varden's allies. He was sympathetic towards Tara because she reminded him of his own daughter who was killed by illness. This man was name Liam.
Taking Tara as his own at the age of 10, he taught her hand to hand combat and the sword. However, she seemed to be more efficient with knives and daggers, so he encouraged her in those.
Liam taught Tara both mind and body as they traveled and she soon advanced. He finally took her to the Varden and there, she learned to share his and the Varden's idealism of peace and freedom from the Empire. During her teenage years,Tara quickly rose in the ranks of the Varden as a skilled warrior and strategist.
On one of her missions for the Varden, she and Liam traveled together to Teirm to help gather supplies and recruit any who was sympathetic. However, they were ambushed by Empire soldiers near Teirm and Liam died to protect Tara. Angry and heartbroken from the loss of her mentor, Tara sealed her heart and pursued the persona of a rude, sarcastic, and arrogant individual.
When she was 20, she meet the Elf Faolan and they immediately disagreed with many of the missions and beliefs. They constantly argued:Faolan was a pacifist and used violence when it was necessary, whereas Tara preferred the motto of "kill first, ask questions later."
During this time, Faolan spotted Tara crying to herself one day and despite his first initial idea of leaving her alone, he went to comfort her. Furious of showing her weakness, she tried to hide it, but with Faolan's soft words, she began to tell her tale and he his. They became close and the best of friends.
They even traveled together from the Varden and Ellesmera once together. This is where the blackish brown hawk Jade came into the picture. She was injured from an arrow and with Faolan and Tara's help, Jade recovered and was trained by them; hence Jade only obeys the two.
Their friendship grew over time, despite Faolan's constant departure back and forth from the Varden and Ellesmera. Friendship soon grew into love after a year and a half, although neither would admit it or pursue their feelings until Tara was 22.
Finally Faolan approached her to woo her, but it was then that he was revoked from Arya's side and had to return to Ellesmera, and he never received a definite confirmation of her returning his love.
With Faolan gone and the news of Arya's supposed death, Tara was saddened and took a mission to try to gain information about a supposed Dragon Rider and of Arya.
When she was traveling to Teirm, she was attacked by Urgals. She was able to fend them off, but she suffered a blow to the head. A merchant found her by the roadside and nursed her back to health. Now, she remembers nothing of who she is, except what she had with her: her weapons.
Despite her memory loss, Tara instinctively knows how to use her weapons, read, write, and anything that revolves around that. She just doesn't remember who she is or what she was doing fighting Urgals. She constantly has dreams of her past, but can't make any of it out; she especially dreams of an elf, but his face is always obscured, despite the fact that his voice is clear. She knows not why she has intense feelings for these dreams.
She is currently in Teirm, helping the merchant, Mave with his ship trades by making sure the shipment gets to its destination as a body guard. He figures that he helped her recover and that she is obviously skilled with combat that she could help out. She agrees, for she uses the occupation to find out who she is.
Role Play Sample: With the sea salt breeze blowing in her hair, Tara waited as the crew loaded the merchandise. She sighed as she stared off into the horizon, figuring out the time.
"Hurry up, men. The shipment needed to be loaded already! Mave won't be pleased if he loses this client!"
The men grunted and mumbled in reply. Tara didn't care. She just wanted to hurry up and get back home. She was already tired and hungry. She stared off into the distance again, as the sun reflected off the greenish water. As she stared at the water, it reminded her of a green forest that she dreamt about last night.
She sighed. She could never figure out what the dreams meant; they were always in jumbles. She only remembered the soft spoken voice of a man...or an elf...she wasn't sure.
Why would I dream of an elf? Mave said they were only legends...I must have gotten it from hearing stories by the crewmen...
But if they were dreams, why did she have a burning feeling in her heart? The feelings just confused her more and she wondered if it was a clue to her past.
"Who am I?" She mumbled as she tossed a wood chip into the water, watching the ripples grow and expand.
