Gianna nodded, though Tristan wouldn't have seen. "We will get through this, Tristan, Teodora. Einar will have no need to worry. I will rejoin you when the gate is open." She watched briefly as Tristan and Teodora dashed off and began their work, the young and beautiful Trinity coming to their aid as well. Although she felt as if she were abandoning the two Ismalians, Gianna rushed off towards the gate nonetheless. When an opportunity presented itself, she slashed at Galbatorix's soldiers, wounding and slaying stealthily. Her heart quickened when she reached the gate. She prayed that no one would interfere when they noticed the gate creaking upwards. There was a sudden surge of shouts, and taking the time to look, she was relieved to find a good bulk of soldiers flooding away from her. Dust rose up from where she had last seen Tristan and Teodora. It seemed Trinity was doing her fair share. Realizing she would have no better time to act, Gianna hastened to the mechanism that would open the gate and admit her allies. ***
Viel hissed at Eridor, snapping quickly at him with her teeth. He was a brute of a dragon, but she was leader of the hunt! He could not match her speed! Her pride was slightly bruised when one of his heavy paws collided with her chest, knocking the wind from her, which in turned caused her to choke on a ball of fire she had been summoning up to her maw. Enraged, she recovered and assailed Eridor anew. Stormwing, as he was called, did not give way to her attacks. Worthy opponent! How much greater this victory will be because of it! ***
Teodora ducked and missed an ax thrown at her head. Too close! Her two daggers flashed in the sun as she did her best to slay and parry and above all, survive. She was afraid that perhaps they had drawn the attention of too many soldiers. Fearing for her life, she drew back to Trinity's side, hopping to gain a brief reprieve. Her eyes searched out Tristan. He was fighting like a mad man, as usual. She watched as a soldier managed to slide around behind him. A fierce, unexpected scream tore from her throat, and she lunged away from Trinity and tackled the man to the ground. They tumbled to the hard cobbled street, Teodora's daggers sinking into his exposed neck. ***
Einar's next attack was too fast. Junya began to raise her own sword, but she knew it was too slow. A moment before his blade would strike, someone stepped in front of her and parried his attack. Junya's eyes narrowed, ashamed that she had been saved. If she could not defend herself, she deserved every injury brought down on her. However, when she recognized the figure that had saved her, Junya stepped back quickly. The flowing green hair of the female in front of her gave her identity away as the shade, Morna. Ill luck indeed to be saved by a shade, but even worse luck to have to battle one. Junya hastened away from this fight, searching out other worthy targets. ***
Morna stared down Einar with her crimson eyes, hungry for blood and destruction. In a flash, she raised a sword and swept it up towards his throat. "You will die today, Einar, traitor to Galbatorix. My master has never forgotten that slight." She grinned then, and it was a slow, malicious smirk.

OOC: Welcome back friend!
The instant Tristan had charged into the startled soldiers, he began to hack away like a mad man. Although, he appeared like a mindless butcher, Tristan had intended to look like a rather large problem for the enemy whilst Gianna opened the gate. Trinity was doing likewise, although, she seemed to be more verbal about it as well. Vile! The young gold dragon swiped her mighty claws at a group of soldiers. Cretins! Her swiviling tail assaulted a line of soldiers behind Teodora. Cowards! She let out a deafening roar as her mighty jaws crunched onto a soldier. She jittered the soldier in her mouth before tossing it away like a doll. The young dragon let out another string of curses; Tristan made a mental note to teach her more polite words.
The prince's blade slashed through his opponents as he would with steak; swift and precise...and very thorough. He was in the middle of taunting another soldier with his profane vocabulary; another note to stop doing that, when another soldier surprised him on the side, cutting his left arm, but not deeply. He grunted backward, annoyed with himself as he parried another blow. He kicked the soldier down, and letting his sword fall, ending their fight quickly. A shiver ran down his spine as he felt something wrong was about to occur. Turning around, he spotted a soldier sneaking up behind him, lunging into his sneak attack. He would not have time to block, and was instantly grateful and horrified when Teodora jumped to his defense. "Teodora!" He yelled, his attention toward her that he didn't notice a massive fist coming toward his skull. He let out a verbal grunt as he staggered backward, the sound of Trinity's roar of fury echoing in his ears. It took a moment for Tristan to regain himself; his adversary was quickly disposed off by his faithful bond. Loud shouts then caught his attention as he spotted a group of soldiers charging at him and Teodora. Tristan did the only sensible thing he could think of; he charged right back with a feral snarl.
*** A ringing sound filled Einar's ears as his blade collided into another that was not Junya's. The motion was too quick, even for his fast eyes to comprehend. He stepped back, astounded at the new foe before him. Her red eyes gave her away instantly. A Shade. His eyes widened. This was going to be very difficult. Einar backed away slowly, assessing his new opponent. Since he was blessed with Edoc'sil, Einar had to change his fighting style drastically. He was now more fluid and precise in the his defense since he no longer had an addition blade to wear off additional attacks. He got into a offensive stance, however, knowing that he had to get rid of the Shade quickly. Her words struck an irritable growl to merge from his lips. "Nor have I forgotten his slight against me; I will see to that my blade runs through him." Einar spat back; hate for his false father in his eyes. His blade was angled to his left side, the hilt downward, ready to strike upward when ready. He eyed Morna's different blades, calculating an attack. However, his preparations were in vein - she attacked him with a blinding speed.
Einar's eyes widened in surprise. His sword hand reacted from instinct rather than from his mind telling him to move for a defense, but he was still too slow compared to the Shade. A sharp clash of metal reverberated into his ears. His eyes glanced down to his sword hand, finding his sword there. Confusion erupted through his eyes as he stared at an elegant blade that had stopped Morna's.
"Why don't you and I play instead, eh?" Roland smirked as he eyed the Shade. "Forgive me, Argetlam Einar, but I fear that you might be needed elsewhere...like the gate, hmm?" Roland glanced at Einar briefly, but not really taking his eye off the wicked Shade.
"Eric...I don't think that's a good idea..." Einar refused to leave the crippled tanner to his doom.
"Perhaps not. But you are needed elsewhere. Go, Argetlam." And with that, Roland pressed his strength against his blade and Morna's hoping to push her backwards from the weight, and signaling to Einar that this was now his fight.
Einar was conflicted. The tanner was surely going to die against a Shade.
As if sensing his thoughts, Roland comforted the Rider, "Do not worry about me, Argetlam; I am not so feeble as I appear." Roland smiled and tilted his head slightly at Einar, his short hair revealing his ears.
Realization struck the dragon rider quickly. Roland looked different....he's ears were pointed. He was an elf!
"Go." Roland instructed again and then gave Morna his undivided attention. "I have not faced your kind in a long while. Shall we?" He smiled at Morna. "Ladies first." He inclined to her politely, the bandage over his scorched eye lightly shuffled from the act.
That was all Einar needed to hear and know. Eric may have a chance with his elven background, and based on the revealed elf's hint, Einar had to head over to where his wife and the Ismalians were located. Not daring to open his mind to search for her, Einar trusted in his heart (and Stigandr's eyes) to show him the way...The silver rider hurried off quickly, hoping that he had not left the tanner to his doom.

OOC: Thanks! It's good to be feeling creative again! And less busy. Gladia's tail crushed a small group of soldiers. The secret passage had been guarded, and now it was time to help elsewhere. She threw her head back and released a challenging roar, the sound rippling up and out her throat. Wings flared, she launched into the sky, purple scales glinting in the red sunlight. In the sky her keen eyes looked across the battle, taking stock. Within the walls, she noticed Trinity and two humans up against a considerable force of empire soldiers. Tristan and Teodora! Banking left, Gladia sped to their aid. Diving smartly, she landed just behind the group that was besieging the trio. With a swipe of her paw, claws extended, she sent soldiers sprawling. *** Morna's grin widened. This was no youngling! Here was a man who would prove a challenge. Sparing no time for banter, she charged the elf, blades swinging like scythes. The spirits murmured madly in her mind, urging her on. *** Why was Tristan rushing like a wool headed fool into the charge!? Teodora could have strangled him, if she wasn't busy saving her own neck. "You're not dying without me, stupid man!" She shouted above the roar of war cries and screams. Muttering obscenities, she charged after Tristan, swinging her daggers with all she had. A purple flash landed nearby, and Teodora felt the earth shudder under her feet. Gladia! Now things were becoming a little more even. Sparing a glance at the gate, she noticed with a mad glee that it was halfway open.

The groans of war echoed passed Einar's sensitive ears as he slashed through the battlefield. Guilt waved through his beating heart as he thought of the tanner that he left behind. A shining mace blurred across his vision, causing Einar to somersault into a roll to avoid the deadly object. Coming out of the roll, Einar's feet were lithe as he was once again standing. Within an instant Einar located the soldier that had thrown the weapon; the soldier was coming right at him again with the mace.
Edoc'sil rang with glee as it blocked the spiked object; Einar grunted with irritation from the soldier's attack. Pushing back with his strength, Einar easily dispatched the soldier with a slash down his shoulder to his hip bone. Blood gushed onto his leather tunic; splattering a bit on the mail that was hidden underneath.
Einar! Gladia is with Trinity and the two legged Ismalians! I cannot see Gianna, but the gate is opening! Stigandr's deep voice chimed into the Rider's mind like a tornado; the silver dragon was worried for his mate.
Stay to the skies! Watch out for any dragons that will attack. Einar rushed out, knowing that Stigandr was hesitant on doing his duty when his mate was involved.
I will crush any that dare harm you all. The great dragon chomped his teeth down on an unsuspecting soldier that was stationed on the outer walls.
I know; as will I. Einar twisted his body in a circle to avoid a passing arrow that was misfired from a Varden soldier as he battled against his foe. Einar raced to help, but a horseman succeeded in doing it first. Einar smirked. Romulus had returned. Einar gave Romulus a quick nod as he continued his way to the opening gate. Please be safe. Einar uttered to himself as he hurried on his path, fighting his way through.
*** Romulus' majestic steed raced onward as he slashed down at his foes. Sticking in the center of battle, the young Duke aided the Varden with all his might, hoping to relieve his allies of their burden. He glanced around furiously, hacking away at the opponents that dared to attack him.
*** Trinity let out a painful roar as a soldier managed to slice her snout. The gold dragon's eyes burned with rage as she snapped the soldier in two. INFIDELS!!! BY ALL THE HOLY EMERALDS !!! Trinity let out another thread of curses as she was now in a bloodlust rage. She began clawing, slashing, snapping, swinging, and stomping on the enemy. She was vaguely aware of Gladia coming to their aid as she managed to emit smoldering steam from her mouth, burning the soldiers from the heat. She grunted; she was so close in breathing fire!
*** Tristan continued on his crazed slashing spree as he felt the ground rumble. He glanced to his side, spotting Gladia. "HAH! WHAT NOW COWARDS?!" He yelled at the soldiers, who were backing away at the sight of another dragon.
Another rumble was felt beneath his feet. Tristan's eyes widened with surprise...and a twinge of betrayal at the sight of the dragon that had come to the aid of the Empire soldiers. The icy color was hard to mistake.
*** Typhon's snarled at Gladia and Trinity, an invitation for battle. Leave these men alone. Typhon's soft, but deadly voice spoke to the intruders. Spill no more blood here! He chomped his jaws. I will not hesitate to attack. He warned again, not wanting to harm anyone.
*** Roland's eye reflected Morna's main blade as he side stepped to his side, watching it pass before him. His sword, Thorta, slid beside him to block the other blade. The elegant white blade rung with satisfaction, pleased to be no longer in hiding. Roland twisted his wrist, hoping to deflect Morna's blade to the side so that he may have an opportunity to kick her side; any hit would do for now until he gained an opening to her sinister heart.

OOC: Geez...I started this thread and I have trouble keeping up. Haha, kinda wish my battle creativity didn't drain so quickly.
Kat held on as Vanilor launched into the sky after the sapphire dragon. She got a giddy sense of vertigo as the blood rushed from her head, and she worked to concentrate when Van alerted her to the deadly magic that the other Rider had sent her way. "Skolir," she said, blocking it. She was still unused to using magic and preferred her weapons. She hoped to get her shield enchanted soon to where it would deflect magical attacks as well as physical ones. Van, see if you can get me close enough to cut her, she said, glaring at the girl on the blue dragon's back.
Serenity remained where she was as Slade began his charge. From where Diana sat on her back, she was terrified, certain that their end was near, but she trusted her dragon. Serenity always knew what she was doing. Hold on, Di, the dragon told her when, at the last possible moment, she barrelrolled to the right and corkscrewed away. Then she rose higher into the sky, trying to gain altitude on Slade. "Kveykva!" Diana shouted, sending bolts of electricity at Selene. ~~~~~ A long distance away, Rauthr hovered in the sky. He and Marola stared down at the battle taking place in the city that once held their loyalty. I feel as if...we should join in somewhere, Rauthr said. Marola nodded. Both Einar and Gianna are battling there. I should dearly like to be with them. Though I might deny it, battle is in my blood. But the Varden would never trust us, and we have renounced Galbatorix. There is no place for us there. She stared down a bit sadly, feeling directionless. Our place is with Gladia Celesti, Rauthr told her. We are to protect them. With Gladia and Stigandr away with their Riders, the responsiblity is on us for the time being. I just hope it does not become solely our responsiblity, she said. She stared back down at the battlefield as Rauthr returned to the tribe. Stay safe, Einar, Gianna, Stigandr, and Gladia.

Junya raced toward the gate, having realized it's slow opening progress. "Towards the gate!" She shouted at her allies as she rode past them, once more mounted on Gringolet. The horse thundered into the walls, and Junya was quick to spot the wheel turning as if by invisible hands. Of course, magic would be involved! Kicking Gringolet towards the wheel, she slashed down in the direction of the mechanism, hoping to break the enchantment, or skin, or whatever it was. The blade slashed through empty air. Suddenly, she was again tackled from her saddle. The weight of this new assailant was much lighter, feminine. When Junya rolled to her feet, she beheld a tattooed woman circling her, eyes narrow, almost catlike. The weapons she wielded were odd, but they were not rare. Junya quickly accessed the woman, and without a noise they rushed in to attack each other. ***
Gianna held her breath as the sword slashed the air inches from her neck. There were wards to protect her, but even hitting a ward would have given her presence away. She was momentarily distracted from her duty at the gate when a tawny blur saved her. Cyan? It was the Ayati tribeswoman! A sense of jubilation filled her. The Ayati had no obligation to this battle, and yet, surely, they must have felt some duty to come and fight. Their combat skills would prove most useful today. ***
Chatura bore Cirilai quickly towards the battle. Below, she kept an eye on her fellow tribesman and woman. They were all on horseback, riding quickly towards the fray. There had been much debate about this final battle, but in the end, she had been able to persuade the elders of the tribe to assist the Varden. The Varden had always been amiable to the Ayati, and if they won this fight, the tribe would have more powerful friends, and larger trade. Chatura roared, eager for the fight. We must be careful, heart. she warned her bond. You have never fought another dragon.
Well then, it's about time. she replied stoutly. With that, Chatura folded her wings, dipped her snout, and dove towards earth, her scales flicking like a fireball. She evened out just above the heads of empire soldiers, her maw open and spraying flame onto them. ***
Gladia twisted about to meet the new threat, fangs bared in a warning snarl. Her scales bristled at the sight of the icy foe. Carefully, she inched closer to him. If not here, someplace else! she retorted, her mind flashing images of the large scale battle. With that, she pounced at Typhon, the tip of her tail twitching. ***
Moran flitted to the left, avoiding Roland's strike. Her turn next. She lashed out with a speedy upper cut, which the elf dodged. He kicked out, and his foot clipped the side of her hip. "Ha!" she laughed, hardly budged from his effort. "What a marvelous sword you possess, and yet you resort to kicks. An ancient acting like a child!" She taunted, her eyes flashing knowingly.

OOC: LOL! Man, too many characters to keep track of! Vanilor gave Kat a mental nod as he banked to the left, sweeping in closer to the dragon's side. His claws extended for slashing and gripping the enemy, Van accelerated his speed, intending to collide into his opponent. Kat never said how close and Van intended to give as many opportunities for her to wreck pain. The young dragon roared deafly as he charged. *** Slade growled in frustration as Serenity barrelrolled out of the collision. He wanted to snap her neck. You will not get away! Slade roared out as he pursued the younger dragon. Selene's cold eyes followed Diana's every move. She spotted the electricity coming at them. "Skolir." She extended her gedwey ignasia, the silver palm tingling as the invisible barrier blocked the attack, the chittering sound of electricity passing by them. Selene was calm and collected, confident that she could easily defeat this traitor. "Out of respect for Vana, I will kill you swiftly." Selene stated as they drew closer to Diana and Serenity. I will tear you to pieces! Slade's statement seemed to contradict his rider, but Selene's masked face betrayed nothing. "Time to die, Traitor." Selene hefted her claymore as they drew higher and closer to Serenity. Slade was determined to sink his mighty talons and teeth into his opponent's neck. "Jeirda!" Selene uttered, her power aimed at Diana. *** Typhon growled out ruthlessly. You were warned, Celesti! His back legs tensed as he launched himself over the soldiers, colliding with Gladia. I will not have you harm my home! He told the purple dragon as he took a swipe at her neck with his jaw. Trinity was momentarily conficted with her rider's emotions as she watched Gladia and Typhon collide. I must help! She yelled at her Rider. That's Kyler's dragon! I won't help cause my friend pain! Tristan yelled back as he blocked an attack. At a given moment of reprieve, Tristan elbowed the attacker in the face. He has chosen his path! I will not leave my kin to fend for herself! Trinity snarled at the remaining soldiers in front of her; her bloody snout making her look far more fiercesome than she had ever appeared before. She bristled her scales as she ruthlessly barraged the men. Leave Gladia and Typhon to fight then! Let it be fair! Besides, Teodora and I need your help on the ground! Tristan argued back. The golden dragon seethed, but agreed, especially seeing that Teodora was fighting off to the side by herself. The young dragon quickly went to her aid, all the while, both her and her rider avoided the thrashing that was occurring inches above their heads. *** Rashid gracefully flipped into a backflip as he turned his body so that he landed on top of a soldier's shoulder's. Rashid's spear was already embedded into the soldier's chest, blood oozing outward in gushes. Using his thighs, Rashid twisted his body, breaking the man's neck with a snap. As the dead man slumped to the ground, Rashid somersaulted off, pulling his spear with him as he rolled to his feet, entering into another attack formation at an unexpecting Imperial soldier. The Ayati warrior made no pause as he joined the Varden in breaching the black city of Uru'baen. His eyes briefly glanced upward at his long time friends. Be safe, you two. He thought as he proceeded in his relentless attacks. *** Einar continued to race toward the opening gate. He smirked as he drew closer, seeing the gate lift by invisible hands. Gianna. He spotted Junya once again and a twinge of horror was etched on his face as he spotted the General swipe empty air. "NO!" He yelled, but was glad when Cyan appeared, tackling the warrior onto the ground. He accelerated his speed, no longer killing on his way, but out of pure fear for his wife, leapt and dodged the carnage around him to get to her. "GIANNA!" He yelled out, fearing the worse as he was unsure if she was wounded or not. He ran passed Junya and Cyan and hurried over to the mechanism that was lifting the gate. Einar skidded himself under it, but was soon noticed by a guard (who had run away in fear of Trinity) and the two were soon engaged in a fight. *** Roland smirked at Morna's taunt as he retreated his foot from the Shade. She was indeed powerful. "That seems quite unfair, Shade. You seem to know me and I know you not." He sliced toward her side, not giving away his true speed, in hopes to use it on his final attack to her heart. "Who speaks? The human that has been poisoned or the Spirits that cause her grief?" He asked as he commanded his sword into fluid strikes and blocks at Morna.

As Vanilor flew in closer to Cordelia, Kat switched from wielding her sword to her axe. It had the capablity of both cutting and crushing, and she was hoping to deal some more long-term damage. Whenever her bond got close enough, she would take a swing at Cherilyn, her face set in concentration. ~~~~~ Diana nodded to Selene; a small part of her was glad the woman gave Vana the respect she deserved. She was a great commander, despite her misjudgement. Diana was sorry that the Varden's victory would likely mean death or some other sort of punishment for her friend. Serenity remained calm and focused as she evaded Slade. The older dragon was faster than she was, but that advantage could be overcome. You do have your invisible magic shields, right? she asked her Rider. My wards? Of course. I wouldn't go into battle without them. She felt a sudden drain in her strength as her wards deflected Selene's magical attack. At the same moment, just as it seemed Slade was going to catch her, Serenity dipped in a sudden nose-dive, swatting at the black dragon with her tail as she went down. ~~~~~ Kunin stood in the middle of a fray of Empire soldiers. They had not noticed when he got there, but he was obviously not on their side. He flung a couple of his sharp blades with deadly accuracy, hitting vital spots with little effort. Soon they were on him, and he was dodging swords with fluid movements. He was like the wind, able to conform quickly, and he beat them back with ease; occasionally a knife would slide across a soldier's throat, or other times he would break necks with his bare hands. Moments later, his sparkling white bond was next to him. To the skies? Lux asked, eager for battle. Kunin calmly agreed, lithely climbing into the saddle. As he did so, his eyes scanned anxiously for Cirilai, every instinct telling him to make certain his betrothed was safe. He had been hesitant to agree with her about joining this battle. So far, the Ayati had done everything they could to not get involved in the war. They had even hidden knowledge of Chatura from both the Varden and the Empire. But Cirilai had been so firm about it--surprisingly firm, contrasting her shy nature--that he eventually wavered and agreed, helping her convince the elders. He only hoped now that it had been the right choice. As Kunin confirmed that Cirilai and Chatura were both all right, Lux noticed a different point of interest. That's her! he practically shouted in Kunin's mind. He sent his Rider an image of a bloodred dragon, and Kunin recalled soon after Lux had hatched, that very dragon and her cruel, blonde Rider finding them. They had battled, and Kunin had unknowingly used magic to defeat them. In an outraged response, the woman burned the forest they had fought in, nearly killing both him and Lux. The white dragon growled at the memory, and had long been desiring to battle; now that he was old enough, he was determined to fight. He didn't even care that she was locked in battle with another dragon. Lux, take care, Kunin warned. The dragon roared in response and charged. She will pay for hurting you! Lux responded.

The gate creaked slowly open, and Gianna watched it's excruciating progress with a madly thumping heart. Soldiers on both sides were beginning to notice, but her comrades had done a nice job in distracting the empire dogs. Now the Varden raised a shout, and they charged at the gate, colliding with their enemies just underneath. Gianna pressed herself against the side of the wall, avoiding the skirmish and she finished her task. Einar was nearby, the image of fury and grace combined. Cyan and Junya danced around each other, blades flashing lethally in the hot sun. At last the gate locked at the top, open. Gianna let go of the spell that had made her invisible, and felt a small drain of energy. Unsheathing Skolir once more, she stood on guard. Almost immediately a soldier charger her, and she found herself again in the heat of the battle. ***
Gladia bellowed furiously as Typhon's fangs scratched across her neck, denting and furrowing her amethyst scales. She had landed precariously on her back when she and Typhon had collided. Her left wing ached, but it was only bruised, not broken. Lifting her hind legs, she kicked savagely at the white dragon's belly, longing to rip out his entrails. Her tail smashed down towards his back. ***
Morna dodged Roland's slashes and thrusts with eery ease. Her two swords moved in blurs of speed. "We all speak." she replied, her voice taking on an ominous tone. "And there are so many of us." Morna lunged toward him, swiping first with her long sword, and coming around with a horizontal, decapitating slice with the short sword. ***
The wind tore at Cherilyn's hair as Cordelia sped through the sky, trying to keep distance from their foe. It was obvious the enemy rider had had more training than Cherilyn. Probably actual battle experience to boot. While Kat came at her with physical attacks, Cherilyn quickly thought up another spell. "Wind, bind this dragon's legs and break his wings!" In her mind she imagined the yellow dragon pursuing Cordelia, of the wind hardening around his legs and becoming a vortex around his fragile wings. ***
A horrible shriek echoed through the sky, Viel pulled back from Eridor, a chunk of his shoulder hanging in her jaws. Her rolled away from her, blood flowing from the large, open wound. He held his right leg closer to his body, the limb feeling somewhat numb from the shoulder down. Turning suddenly, he flipped around and brought his tail slamming towards Viel. The spikes crashed into her face, ripping scales away and digging into flesh. She screamed, the roar shrill and violently loud. They collided again, Ripping at each other with new fervor.
Viel snapped back her head to attack again, but was distracted by the sight of another dragon charging at her. Varden! They never wanted to fight fair. She pushed away from Eridor, her talons scratching his stomach. As she turned to face the new, fresh opponent, Eridor lashed out and caught her tail between his fangs. She pumped her wings harder, trying to get away. Stormwing was far stronger than she, and Viel felt a moment of fear. Eridor began dragging her towards the ground, his fangs painfully burrowed in her tail.

A frustrated snarl escaped Slade's belly as Serenity dived out of his grasp; he did not like the feeling of his claws grasping air. That scum was slippery! His mood was equally matched by Selene. The woman was getting irritated, though her face was still as blank as ever. Whipping around, Slade followed Serenity with bloodlust. He will spill her blood on the crimson ground! The chase was on!
Selene's cold eyes did not miss the uselessness of her spell. The traitor has learned some things. She shared with her bond. Very well. Slade. Break their necks the old fashioned way.
As always, it will be my immense pleasure to destroy those scums! Slade's cooing voice assured his Rider. They will regret their insolence. The black Rider and dragon charged once more at their opponents.
***
The vision of blood and dirt clouded the field as Romulus continued their onslaught against the Imperial soldiers. A lucky soldier had managed to knock Rom off his faithful steed, but that did not stop the Ranger from his merciless attacks. Rom fought with ever fiber of his heart and soul against his opponents; it was in his nature to follow his honest heart. His magnificent blade rang through the air as it drove itself into his current opponent. He would follow his heart until the end.
*** Einar jerked his shoulder, allowing Edoc'sil to finish its smooth slice into the soldier that had attacked him. The half elf pushed down the seductive yearning to unleash his deadlier half as the luring sound of destruction caressed his heart. He would not lose control. He blinked his eyes into a firm resolve as he disposed another unfortunate soldier to the blood-laced ground. He continued to make his way toward the lever that operated the side gate. His heart let out a relieved sigh as Gianna appeared out of thin air. She did not seem hurt. Relief and trust reflected in his eyes as he stared at his wife momentarily. The cry of Tristan's throaty barbarian yell tore his gaze away, allowing himself to concentrate on his own fights; he knew Gianna had grown into a fine warrior - she could handle her own, but that did not mean he would not be near her should she become overwhelmed.
*** Tristan had to admit: he was having a blast! The soldiers were scurring about like rats at his crazed appearance. Letting out a manical warcry, Tristan continued to barrage through the Empire's ranks; it helped tremondously that Trinity was there sweeping away their opponents with ease, and not to forget, the ferocity of Teodora's attacks. The sight of both females caused Tristan's heart to beam. They would win this day!
*** Vanilor yelped in surprise and pain as he felt something pull his hind legs down. He tried pumping his wings, but something was causing them to flap unnaturally. He let out a pained roar. Kat! Help! The young dragon's voice was filled with panic...and a thread of determination. He would not be grounded! The sky was rightfully his! He will command it into submission. He continued to struggle against the invisible forces that were causing him to jolt and surge downward. Kat! He cried out again in pain as he felt one of his wings bend awkwardly. If this continued, the yellow dragon feared, his wing would break backwards!
*** A grim satisfaction welled in Typhon's chest as he heard Gladia's cry. The she-dragon would regret crossing him. His mind was focused on tearing Gladia apart as they continued to attack one another. He let out a small whimper as he felt her talons rip his underbelly; he truly wanted to let out a pained roar, but would not allow the purple-scales the satisfaction. He continued to wrestle with her, trying to pin her to the ground so he could chomp on her throat and rip her wings off her body. However, Gladia's persistant talons and tail were making it difficult. He began to feel that familiar, ancient power within him; a power that he had not felt since Kyler was attacked by Joshel. The surge was growing quickly and Typhon was ready to relinquish himself to that power's control.
A blood curling scream travelled to Typhon's ears, snapping him away from the ancient power. Breathing heavily, Typhon glanced up into the sky. Viel! The icicle dragon stared upward with a pained look in his eyes. He had to get to her! She was wounded! And now the battle grew unfair. Typhon yelped! Gladia managed to wound him again, but that didn't matter to the dragon. Viel was in danger! Struggling with all his might, Typhon began to kick and push his way out of Gladia's grasp. Let me go! Let me go! I must help Viel! Typhon's voiced his panicked concern for his red friend. He continued to struggle to be released, not caring if the rules of engagement noted him cowardly; his loyalty came first.
*** Roland let out an "Ah" at Morna's response. The time for talk was clearly over as Morna continued her onslaught. Roland's blade struck the first attack with a heavenly ring, blocking it from harming him. His elegant eye duly noted the second attack coming to rid him of his head. He was quite fond of his head, so unfortuately for her, he would have to escape from the short sword. With immense speed that could only come from an elf, Roland deftly crouched; his weight shifted to one side, one leg outward to balance his body weight, while his free hand steadied his other side. Using his weight, Roland pushed himself away. He retracted his blade and like a cat, skidded backwards (dust driving all around them), giving himself space from his deadly opponent. The Shade was a hardpressed opponent. He could sense many spirits within that body, which meant power. He calculated the odds of defeating his opponent by himself. He withheld a frown; the odds were not in his favor, but that did not mean he would allow this abomination to continue to destroy the land he loved. Just as he finished skidding away, Roland launched himself back into the fight, his elegant blade swiping in a downward diagonal line whilst his free hand formed itself in an open palm. "Kveykva." A cackling sound sparked before his open palm as he channeled the light around him to form lightening. Speedily, he releases the shrieking power in his hand at Morna.

Serenity flew with grace and speed as she leveled out of her dive and short forward. She would not be able to evade Slade long by fleeing, though. She and Diana would have to create a new strategy somehow. She thought back to the night before, when she had her Rider were having a few minutes alone together. Ser, Diana had said, If we don't survive tomorrow...I wanted to thank you for hatching for me. It's been an honor I never deserved. You do deserve it, Di, Serenity had replied, You never give yourself enough credit. I would not have picked you if I had not deemed you worthy. But all the same, I am glad of the time we've had together. Serenity was now afraid that they would never be able to have such conversations again. There was still so much unsaid between them, so much they would never be able to tell each other. She very much hoped they would survive this battle. Diana, out of desperation and hoping to give Serenity an edge in this chase, reached for her magic. "Garjzla, jierda," she said. Her intend was to refract Slade's vision and make him see several images of Serenity. With luck, he would not be able to tell which one was actually her. Instantly, she felt her strength draining. She would not be able to hold this spell for long, but she was determined that at the very least, her Serenity would not be destroyed by Slade. ~~~~~ Kat swung her axe at Cherilyn again, hoping to land a blow this time. She was frustrated that she had not been able to land any blows yet. Then she heard Vanilor's desperate cry for help. She noticed the wing pulling at his wings and restraining his legs. She knew it was a spell made by the enemy Rider. To use a spell to stop it would mean that she was starting a magic duel--and magic was not her strength. Still, she could think of no other way to counter this attack against her dragon. Damn Varden cowards, she mentioned to Van as a casual thought, Always resorting to magic because they can't handle a fair fight. Out loud, she said in the ancient language, "Air, slow." She didn't intend to stop the wind completely, but slow it enough that it would no longer harm and entrap Van. Van, see if you can get me close enough that I can jump over there, she told him. Once I'm off, get as far away as possible. The distance will both decrease the effectiveness of her spell and get you safely away from me. Since the Varden scum wasn't fighting fair, Kat wouldn't either. She intended to let her cursed armor do the dirty work for her.

Gladia clamped her jaws harder on Typhon, not intending to ever let him go. Ice-scales struggled to get to his friend, but Viel needed to die! Surely that would help turn the tide of battle! Feeling more like a lioness on the hunt than a dragon in battle, Gladia sank her teeth into Typhon and tried to trap him better with her talons. Her tail lashed back and forward viciously, sweeping away those who strayed too close. She was distracted suddenly by a pain in her right back leg, an echo of the wound Gianna had just received. Her grip loosened on Typhon, and she wailed out angrily as he slipped from her grasp. *** Elaine and Vana paused in their dual as the battle between their dragons became deadly tense. Elaine watched with euphoria as Eridor dragged the struggling Viel down to earth by her tail. Nearby, she heard Vana cry out in rage, which reminded Elaine to pay attention to her own deadly battle. She turned just in time to see Domia flashing at her throat. With a cry of alarm, she lifted Celora and parried the blow just in time, but in so doing let the red blade nick her cheek. Too close! Vana pressed on, her blood hair whipping in it's braid as she struggled to kill Elaine. Elaine felt a moment of fear. The red warrior was incensed by her dragon's desperate plight. ***
Cordelia pumped her wings faster, trying to escaped Vanilor's closing presence. Cherilyn looked behind her shoulder with wide eyes. Her attack had only stopped them for a moment. A flash of eery lightning lit the field below, and taking inspiration, Cherilyn raised her own hand and pointed the palm at the yellow dragon. "Kevykva!" ***
Morna was surprised by the old man's speed. He was proving to be a fair fight after all! That wouldn't do! She was just lunging at him when he sent a streak of lightning right at her. The bolts her in the stomach, sending her flying backwards. Morna landed a surprising distance away, dazed and enraged. She got up slowly, but already her body was healing, and a grim laugh shook her shoulders. "You fool!" She shouted at Erik. "You can't kill a shade with lightning!" Gathering her hands in front of her chest, she muttered spells under her breath. Lightning began flicking in her palms. "I, however, can kill you!" She suddenly shoved her hands out in the direction of Erik, throwing the crackling, purple lightning at him. As it sped on it's way, bolts separated from the main force to spread across the army, striking down Varden and Empire soldiers. Throwing back her head, Morna laughed at the destruction.

OOC: Hmmm...let's make things...more interesting, shall we? hehehe
Typhon whimpered in frustration and pain as he felt purple-scales tighten her grip on his neck. He could feel the hot liquid of his own blood run down his icy scales and knew that he had to escape now if he had any strength left to fight Stormwing and the other dragon. He continued to slash about, kicking his way free from her iron grasp. Suddenly, he felt her grip loosen, followed by her own cry. Not thinking twice, Typhon surged himself backwards and upward so that he would be in the sky. He felt more pain and blood seep down from his neck and his belly; Gladia was formidable and had down a great deal to weaken him. Taking flight, Typhon hurried over to Viel and her two opponents, fear that he would not make it in time. Leave her be! Typhon's angry roar thundered the skies as he charged toward Eridor, unleashing an inferno near his middle, and away from any vital part of Viel.
*** Thank you Kat. Vanilor's voice was one of gratitude as he felt himself righted again. His wings felt sore from the attack, but he had to continue on. For Kat. As you wish, Kat, but I will not go too far. Van told his Rider, knowing what she had in mind as he flew closer, chasing after his opponent. His deadly eyes turned into surprise ones as he spotted the cackling sparks of lightening heading their way. Recalling his evasive training, Vanilor banked sharply to the left, exposing his underbelly to the light as he soared out of the way. He let out a painful roar as he felt the stray sparks hit him; he was lucky that he had missed the main grouping of those dangerous lights of fire. The lightening reverberated through him; he clenched his jaw, but was again thankful that he only was hit by the minor force of light. Kat! Kat! Are you all right?! Van asked her with frantic concern as he tried to steady himself back toward Cordelia. His body shook a few more times as he felt the remnants of the pulsating energy course through him; if a battle wasn't going about, he was pretty certain that he looked rather funny and that Kat would laugh at him.
*** Slade let out another annoyed roar as he discovered that his eyesight had change. Slade! Calm yourself! Selene commanded, distaste laced in her cold voice. That Varden welp had a few tricks, did she? Well, Selene will show her what it meant to be hunted by a Dragon Slayer. She didn't have time to heal Slade, so the black dragon would have to rely on her senses, as well as his other ones. Slade knew instantly what his Rider was planning as the 3 years together conveyed. Blazing with anger, Selene no longer held the cold look, but one of malicious intent. "YOU WILL PAY FOR HARMING SLADE!" She yelled at her opponent, her claymore outstretched toward her. No one messed with Slade! No One! The Dragon Slayer commanded her bond to continue his assault, relying on their training and skill to annihilate their pesky prey. Slade closed his eyes, as not to be confused by the multiple visons before him. He inhaled deeply, catching Serenity's scent. He charged, having located it; and trusting in Selene's human eyes as well. "Malthinae! Jierda thierra kalfis!" Selene uttered with a crazed rage, hoping to hold Diana and Serenity still as her other spell broke their calves into itty bitty pieces! Her patience had wane thin, as she only desired blood for those that harmed the only true friend she ever had.
*** Roland skidded to a stop as he watched Morna recoil backward, his spell having hit its mark. He knew that would do little to kill the Shade, but he had hoped it would weaken her greatly. Roland soon charged, knowing that the Shade would only be momentarily preoccupied with her wound. Charging with his trusted white Rider sword, Thorta, Roland yelled out a cry as he desired to stab the Shade in the heart. However, Morna was formidable and was on her feet quickly. Roland only had a momentary opportunity to uttered Skolir before the lightening subdued him. He let out a cry of pain as the spell only managed to evade the blunt damage of the attack, but he was still hit head on, causing him to fly backward a good distance away from his opponent.
Roland cried out in pain as he landed atop a group of soldiers. Friend or foe, he knew not. His spell negated the sharp objects of weapons as he slammed into them, but he still felt the pain from the powerful attack given by Morna. He needed help from someone soon - or Morna would continue to harm. He could hear the cries of the soldiers that were affected by her attack as well and cursed at himself for forgetting to protect them. He staggered upward, managing to block an attack by an Empire soldier, before slicing him in half with Thorta. Staggering upward, Roland heaved a determined breath before charging against Morna once again.
*** Einar yelled out in pain as he felt a soldier slash across his backside and through his light armour. He let out a curse as he swung about to eliminate the threat. He conitnued his onslaught when he felt the ground beneath him rumble dangerously. He paused, confused for a moment as the rumbling continued. His gaze turned toward the castle and his eyes grew wide. The high towers began to collapse and bricks and concrete were tumbling downward. He quickly turned to his wife and comrades. "RETREAT!!! RETREAT!!!" He yelled, feeling that something dangerous was about to happen.
*** Arya raced acrossed the dark and dangerous hallways of the castle, searching and feeling for the last egg that was imprisoned. Her majestic features barely were glimpsed as she sped quickly, feeling the castle about to give way. She knew Eragon and the others would be safe, and now, had only duty on mind as she searched to retrieve the imprisioned egg and any other Eldurni's she discovered. Her mind wandered toward her elf kin, who were also imprisioned. She hoped to find them soon as well, along with anything else that the King wrongfully possessed. Burnt hair flying behind her, the young elf princess continued further into the crumbling castle of Uru'baen.

OOC: Yes!
Eridor held onto Viel, stubborn to let go even in the face of this new threat. He growled through his teeth at Typhon's approach, letting ice-scales know his disdain. The flames then rolled towards him, and still he did not let go. He let the scorching fire hit him, let the flames blacken his scales and crisp his tough skin. But when the fire threatened to lick up to his wings, he finally released Viel and struggled away from the inferno, much weakened and in pain. He was then grateful to see an arrow of purple scales shooting up towards them. He was sure he wouldn't be able to defeat two enemies in this condition. ***
Gladia was not about to let Typhon get away. Roaring after him, she leaped skyward and followed his trail. When she watched Typhon's fire strike Eridor, she screamed out her rage. But, rather than attack the ice-scales, she went instead for Viel, who was not yet recovered from her bout with Eridor. Gladia rammed into Viel's side, digging her fangs into blood-scales neck. She could feel scales and flesh give way beneath her jaws. Viel lashed out in pain and twisted out of Gladia's grasp. They were locked with each other now, plummeting towards earth. ***
"Eridor!" Elaine shouted, feeling a mirage of heat blow over her. She was distracted now, and Vana took the advantage. The red rider lashed out with Domia and sliced Elaine across the arm, cutting thickly through her flesh, to the bone. Elaine staggered from the sudden pain and tripped to get away from Vana. She didn't care if she was injured, she cared that Eridor was! Eridor! Come to me! I have to heal you! she cried out to him, but his mind was shut from hers. In anguish, Elaine faced Vana again, who was right behind her, red blade at the ready. Elaine was grateful it was not her sword arm that had been injured. Instead of letting Vana take the offensive, Elaine lashed out with Celobra, moving into an intricate, if not now a bit clumsy, flash of swordplay. ***
Gianna disarmed the man in front of her, and then looked with wide eyes into the sky. Gladia was fighting Viel! No! Gladia was strong and fast, but Viel was a monster who had years of dragon fighting experience. She was shocked out of her horrified reverie by Einar's strong shout of retreat. It was then she noticed the trembling in the ground. Where were Tristan and Teodora. Shouldn't she find them? But then she saw Teodora racing towards the gate, blood on her face and arms, one hand secured tightly around Tristan's arm, attempting to pull him along. Thinking Teodora had the right idea, Gianna raced to Einar's side and grabbed his shoulder. "Come on then, love." And with that she turned and dashed away from the crumbling castle herself. ***
Morna cut off her magic when she noticed the shaking in the ground. She knew what that meant. This fight was over. The stupid empire soldiers would surrender, and she would be forced to face them all for judgement. "I had fun today, Erik" she said, winking at him. "We must do this again another time!" Waving coyly at him, she then turned and dashed off away from the city, faster than an elf.
