Sixteen years have passed since the Varden’s successful campaign against Galbatorix. Nasuada has ruled Alagaesia as a kind, merciful, and intelligent Queen. Arya too has ruled the elves with wisdom and guidance, her faithful bond Fírnen ever at her side. In a distant land, Eragon has raised a new generation of dragon riders, riders who represent the long lost order of the riders of Vroengard. Human, elf, dwarf, and urgal all take part in the union of the bond that creates the Dragon Rider, and the races have experienced a peace never known before. From his distant land, the new generation of riders are just now beginning to set out on their own, to travel to Alagaesia to keep the peace. The eggs from the secret vault in Doru Arebea have all been hatched, but Saphira has laid her own clutch, and the other dragons have also laid new and bountiful clutches. The Rider’s order continues to grow. So, too, does the new breed of wild dragons. They thrive in the new land of the Dragon Riders, keeping to themselves mostly, but contacting the bonded dragons ever so often.
Peace, however, cannot last forever. In the land of Alagaesia, a new threat stirs. An abomination that will wreak havoc and destruction until every race bows before it. A shade rises from the shadows. A shade bonded to a dragon. The rider shade has gathered an army of his own, an army of dark assassin’s and insidious magicians, as well as other shades. Already the peace that has reigned across Alagaesia has been shaken. Nasuada, Arya, Orin, and Orik have all felt the power of the new threat. They send to Eragon an ambassador to beg for aid from the Dragon Riders. As well they send an ambassador to the Queen Mother Tenal ka dwelling in the land of Ismalia. Alagaesia will need all of their allies to defend and keep the peace.
Only the riders can actually eradicate this new threat. Only they can restore peace again, peace that is quickly being destroyed. The time to make new allies comes again, a time to pick up your weapon and choose a side. Will you stand with the Dragon Riders and strive to defeat the Dragon Rider Shade, or will you side with him and join the dark ranks that leave destruction and chaos in their wake? The tide of battle will be decided by you! Pick up your weapon and fight!
