Jeriah smiled. "Hey, that's where we're headed for next! I've heard some things about Surda, and it sounds interesting." She leaned back against Oranthor again. "But I really think I want to spend a couple more days here, first. There's something...magical about this place. Something that makes me want to stay here for a while." She looked overhead, toward where she knew the Crystal was flying. It seemed so wise. She hoped to stay and speak with it some more. OOC: sorry, just trying to put the thing on topic, which is about how magical Eoam is. lol.

Taran followed her gaze, but could see nothing, though he knew she must have seen something. "Well, maybe I'll see you there then. I should get back before the crew grows suspicious." Taran said, rising to his feet.

Jeriah smiled and stood with him. "I hope to see you tomorrow, iet Fricai," she told him, "I will watch your departure from the beach. And I hope you and I meet again soon."

Taran felt a strange feeling come over him when Jeriah spoke the ancient language. He suddenly felt as if he should not leave that place, but his duty was elsewhere. He turned and returned to the camp, heading straight for his cot and a restless night's sleep.

Jeriah turned away from Taran and walked back to where she had been sleeping before. What do you think of him, Oranthor? she asked as she got comfortable again. He seems a good enough man. I will sorely miss not making his better aquaintance. As will I, friend, as will I.

The morning was young, but Taran could not sleep any longer. He rose to walk about the ruins again, this time taking a different course. He found his way to a large tower, and proceeded to climb it. When he reached the summit, he found a large room full of intricate patterns and designs, with the walls inlaid with small openings. Below the openings were plaques, with different names and colors. One opening was not empty. Taran reached his hand into the shadowed hole to touch something extremely smooth. Pulling out what he touched, his breath escaped him. In his hands was a large teal oval..an egg.

Jeriah awoke to the sound of the Crystal's voice in her mind: As so Taran begins to shape his wyda, was all it said. She wondered what it meant. Oranthor was stilll asleep, so Jeriah left him and wandered about the old city, carefully avoiding the camp of sailors. She found herself climbing some stairs to a large tower. In one room, she found Taran standing with a teal stone. A dragon egg. "Wyda," she whispered to herself.

Taran could do nothing but stare at the stone, its color and shape, and what it held, encompasing all thoughts. He stroked the sides of the egg, marveling at the smoothness. He looked up at Jeriah as she came up the stairs, many questions playing across his face. As he thought, only one word seemed come to mind, 'Adurthil.'

Jeriah watched Taran to see what he would do with the egg. She walked forward and touched it lightly. Suddenly, the egg gave a peep. Jeriah smiled. "Congratulations, Taran. You are about to be a Rider."

Taran looked at her, disbelief written on his face. 'I can't be a rider!' he thought. 'I'm not willing to give allegiance to one side or the other! I want to be free!' As Taran held the egg, it began to rock back and forth, shaking violently. Taran set the egg on the floor, taking a few steps back, as small cracks began to appear on the egg.

Jeriah watched with anticipation as the egg wobbled and cracked. Her mind flew back to when Oranthor hatched for her. FLASHBACK: She had been looking for a sheep that had run off from the house. There was a small wooded area near their home. She walked in there and heard a noise behind her. She turned quickly, wondering what it could be. A large amber stone rolled toward her, many cracks appearing on its surface. Jeriah wondered what it could be. Soon, the egg hatched and an orange dragon emerged and crawled toward her. She thought it was cute and reached out to pet it. As soon as she did, her felt pain rush through her. After a few minutes it subsided and she became a Rider. END. Jeriah now watched happily, grateful to be present at this wonderous occasion.

The egg wobbled and rocked, the cracks growing longer and wider. After what seemed like a lifetime, a small portion of the egg chipped off, revealing the spiked tail of a teal dragon. Taran expected to be afraid, but he was not. In fact, he was intrigued and kelt beside the egg, lifting small flakes so the little dragon could move. The dragon stood and ran around in small circles, still mostly encased in its egg. Taran laughed and picked up the egg, holding it in his arms as he helped the dragon break away the rest.

Jeriah laughed as the dragon had some difficulty in getting out of its shell. She sat back and watched Taran help the dragon break out.

Taran smiled as the dragon finally burst from its shell, knocking him over and landing on his chest. A bright light enveloped both of them, sending a sharp pain through Taran's chest.

Jeriah watched as the infant dragon broke out of his shell, landing in Taran's arms. There was a blinding light and Taran fell. After a while, the light died down to a large shining oval on his now-bare chest. Jeriah looked in his eyes. "How did that happen?" she asked him. OOC: lol, your shirt got burned off! lol!
