The beginning

[Lyra]

Lyra walked through the forest admiring it's beauty.A flash of blue caught her eye.Furrowing her brow she slowly walked towards it.She descovered the oval shaped stone under the twisted roots of a ld elm tree.She raised her eyebrows but slowly lifted it."What the heck's in this!"she muttered to herself as she felt the weight.She quickly returned home,cradeling the oval in her arms.She set it on the ground infront of her.She ran her hands over it for a few minutes before it wiggled.She continued to run her hand over it when all of a sudden it hatched? She gasped in shock as a ice blue baby dragon tumbled out of it's egg.She slowly extended her hand towards it.Suddenly it reached forward and touched it's forhead to her palm.Suddenly a flash of pain shot through her.Then she fainted.

~The next morning~

She opened her eyes and blurrily looked around.Then she noticed there was a warm object in the crook of her leg.Suddenly a voice entered her mind.

Finally!You're awake!It's about time!I'm surprised that my belly didn't wake you earlier!It's been growling for hours now!

It said to her.The voice was rich,soft,beautifull.

Thank you for those compliments on my voice

It said again.She looked around and almost jumped out of her skin as the form by her leg moved to sit up.She stared at the ice blue baby dragon before her."Are you talking to me?"she asked and jumped again as a warm presence brushed her mind.

But of course!You are my rider!

The voice said in a shocked tone.

"I'm a dragon rider"Lyra stuttered to the dragon,who nodded it's head.

~The Night Before~

Kane was flying through the forest hunting when he noticed a presence. A blue flash of light caught his eye and he looked as the presence picked it up and quickly returned to its den. He landed quietly in a clearing nearby as he waited to see what would happen. As he sat and waited he let his mind scour the forest. He was starting to doze off when he felt it. For him it felt like there was a shift in the air. There was a new rider. He took off and returned to Vivian and told her the news. After talking for hours they went to bed.

~The Present~

Kane woke and shifted his wings so that Vivian could get up. The touched each others minds briefly before she jumped on his back and the took to the air. Kane flew to where the new rider was and landed in the clearing. When Vivian got off she followed Kane's memory to where the new riders house was. She could also feel it but it was mostly what Kane was feeling. When she got to the house she heard a female talking and knew that this was the voice of the rider for no one answered her out loud. Vivian knocked on the door and waited for the rider to answer.
