“You will be missed.” The elf told Larrant and Lekki as they prepared to leave Du Weldenvarden. Thank you for your hospitality. Replied Lekki “And thank you for your knowledge. We will try to return as soon as possible.” Said Larrant as he loaded some food onto Lekki. “May good fortune rule over you.” Said the elf. “May the stars watch over you.” Replied Larrant. Once the final piece of luggage was loaded, Larrant leaped onto Lekki’s back. She lifted off and began flying off towards Surda. Larrant waved goodbye to his elven friends. They flew for about an hour before Larrant relized that they were missing food. Lekki, do you know what happened to the food? No. It probably fell. Did you secure it tightly? I'm posative. Anyway, whatever happened, we need more food. Yes, indeed. The nearest city is Silthrim. It will take about half an hour to reach it though. Larrant was not happy with the delay in thier trip, but it was necessary. Lekki turned southwest, flying straight towards Silthrim.

Ferlan was sitting at his home about thirty leagues from Silthrim when out of nowhere, a huge parcel of food dropped out of they sky. Fethrfricai jumped from his shoulder and flew to see where it had come from. Ferlan followed her outside. He was not surprised to see a dragon flying overhead. They seemed to be hatching by the dozen these days. I guess the Rider must have dropped it, he told the bird. She chirruped in response and flew upward to meet the dragon and tell them what had happened to their food.

Larrant, said Lekki, a bird is approaching us. I think it wants to talk to us. "Talk to us?" Yes. I know it sounds strange, but this bird seems intelligent enough to speak to us. To see if this was true, Larrant contacted the bird's mind. Hello. Do you have anything to say? Larrant felt a little silly talking to a bird, but waited to see if it would respond anyway.

Fethrfricai landed on Larrant's head and looked down at him from her point of view. Hello. I just thought you would like to know that a rather large bag of food fell out of the sky near my friend's home. I figured you may want it for wherever you're going.

Lekki followed the bird to a small hut in the forest. He greeted the man that lived there and inquired about the food. "Have you any idea about what happened to my food? It seems strange that it would just fall like that."

Ferlan smiled at the elf who was on the dragon. He pointed to the food that was lying near his house as Fethrfricai landed on his shoulder. "It landed right there," he said. Ask him what he's doing here, the Other said. It seemed a reasonable inquiry, so Ferlan gave no objection. "Where are you two headed," he asked.

"I am heading home, to Aroughs. After serving the Varden and training in Nadindel for so long, I long to see it again. Oh, and by the way, my name is Larrant" Said Larrant as he picked up his suplies. He held the food in his left arm and shook the man's hand with his right hand. "So, who are you?"

"My name is Ferlan," he told Larrant. "Aroughs, huh? That's quite a ways from here." How much does he know about magic? the Other asked Ferlan. Probably not as much as I know, which is all the better for him. But it would be nice to know his limitations if he turns out to be an enemy. I won't fight him, even if he does turn against me. Ah, but what if you just let the darkness take care of him? Ferlan grimaced slightly at the mention of his conflict. His darkness, which killed mercilessly unless he could control it. He would normally just tell the people to go away as he let it take his course, but since he met Elianora, he was determined to fight it and overcome it, no matter how hard he tried. Ferlan returned his attention to his guests and looked to the dragon. "And what is your name, mighty dragon?" he asked.

My name is Lekki, and it is a pleasure meeting you. The long road ahead will be no doubt treacherous because of the Empire's riders and assassins. Could you- "perhaps offer some"- advice on the safest- "rout to Aroughs?" Rider and Dragon asked as one.

Ferlan shook his head sadly. "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I have never traveled as far as Aroughs by road...or in the air for that matter. But you've traveled there through magic, the Other stated. Yes, and I won't do it again, at least until I get rid of you. That silenced him for a moment, but Ferlan was not decieved. He was still there, and he would still have to deal with him.

"Oh well. I really must be off." And thank you, Lekki said to the bird, for telling us about our food. With that, Larrant leaped on the back of Lekki, with the food of course, and prepared to take off.
