Aethelwyne found solace in his words as she took refuge in his arms. Coming back into herself, she mastered the last of her fear. "You are right we must go...now! Doc we need to get to Sanctuary!" she spoke quickly to Taran and Edoc'sil. Rising, she reushed to saddle Doc and stowed the rest of their belongings in the packs and attached them to the saddle. As the great dragon awaited, heput out his foreleg for her. In a move that they had practiced often, she ran, lept upon his giant leg, pushed off of his side then bounced lightly off his neck as she landed firmly in the saddle on his back. "Forgive me my love but time is off the essence. If the coven is involved then others will soon follow. Doc and I have a refuge further up in the mountains unknown to any, including my coven sisters. It is well-hidden and strongly warded. We will be safe there, at least for the night. I must contact the High Priestess." She looked to Taran with a new resolve in her eyes. Whether it was the coven behind the attack or someone else, one thing was sure. She would die to protect the love that she had found!

Taran looked up at Aethelwyne with love and hope. She was skilled in many avenues of life, and those skills would aid them both in the struggle to come. "Aye, we need to leave. Tell what to do, and I'll do it. I will do whatever you need of me," he told her, love and determination in his eyes.

Holding out her arm for Taran, she made ready to go to Sanctuary. Once he was aboard, Doc took off with a mighty bound and was airborne. The flight wasn't long as they arrived at the mountain refuge. Doc landed on a ledge that was just large enough for him to turn around on. Aethelwyne dismounted in haste as she walked into the side of the mountain and disappeared. "Follow me." she sent to Taran's mind.

Taran blinked his eyes a few times as Aethelwyne disappeared into the side of the mountain, but quickly followed her. Looking around at the area before where Aethelwyne had disappeared, Taran noticed nothing to betray a hidden refuge.

It was just as she had left it. Well-stocked with food and a spring for water. There was an opening to an adjacent cave that was big enough to house Edoc'sil. The cave was actually comfortable and fully furnished. It looked like someone had lived there. "Doc and I use this when things get to hot and we have to lay low for awhile. Make yourself at home, love." She brought out candles from a trunk near a bed and placed them about the cave, speaking 'brisingr' watching the flames come alive.

Taran walked into the spacious cave, though it did not feel like one. 'Wow,' he thought. 'This feels like home, Adurthil. Home in Ellesmera. I have not been there in some years, but it feels like I am there." He walked around, being rather nosey, looking at different things. "Well, Athelwyne, this place is amazing. Why don't you spend more time here?"

"Actually I have always found it a bit lonely here. A home it would appear but...it never felt like a home." She sat down on the edge of the bed looking around the cave thinking. She looked at Taran and spoke to him in her gentle voice. "Taran, I will have to contact the High Priestess when the moon is high. If the man's words were a message, she will get suspicious if I do not. We have a few hours until moon rise. What would you like to do until then?"

Taran leaned against a wall, looking at Aethelwyne. 'She is right. It does look to be rather lonely, but that must be because she has had no one to share it with,' he thought. He ran his fingers through his hair, trying to get the knots from the flight out of the long strands. "Well, I could do well with a bath, or shower if you have one. My last encounter with water was not...intentional." He smiled at her.

"I am sorry Taran. This way. There is a spring just over here. If you haven't noticed I have an affinity for water. I always seem to be close to it." she laughed as she took his hand to lead him. Her body began to relax again, the first time since the attack. She knew that they were safe here. Edoc'sil had helped her to use dragon magic, elven and coven magic to fortify this place. This sanctuary. They had never been discovered here in all their many years together.

Taran gripped her hand tightly, looking forward to spending more time with her in peace, though he dreaded what she may find out from her Priestess. As they rounded a corner, Aethelwyne led him to where he could bathe. "Thank you, love" he told her, gently giving her a kiss as he passed her into the room.

Aethelwyne lingered for a moment then followed him into the room giving him a bashful glance. She walked to a far wall and retrieved a large ornately decorated screen. Moving it to give him privacy she sat on the floor near the opening on the other side of the screen. "Taran." she hesitated for a minute not knowing how to put her feelings into the words she so desperately longed to say to him. His mark upon her chest glowed faintly and warmed her skin. She felt it as she touched his heart without trying to. 'This mark binds us deeper than any mere words ever could.' She released the feelings of her love for him and felt as they touched him. She smiled and rising slowly told him "I'll get dinner while you clean up. Now you really do smell a little gamey!" she laughed softly as she left the entrance.
While he bathed she prepared the meal and waited for him. 'Doc are you and Adurthil okay in there.' Doc replied to her simply 'Yes. All is as it should be.' and with that sent her a feeling of joy for her new found happiness.

Taran quickly finished cleaning, grateful to finally have a good bath after so long on the road. Dressing in plain cloth pants and an old shirt, Taran piled his worn clothes neatly behind the door for washing later. As he walked through the hallways towards what he took to be the kitchen, Taran felt his feelings for Aethelwyne increase, his mark glowing softly through his thin shirt. 'How can I say how I feel? Especially when this mark says so much more?' he thought to himself.

Sensing Taran coming, Aethelwyne rose from the table. Smiling she gestured to him, "I have prepared you some food. If it is okay with you, I think I should like to clean up now while you eat. I fear I, too, smell a little gamey."

Taran smiled as he entered the room. Plugging his nose at her remark, he sat, making gestures as if to blow the smell away. "Yes, please do," he teased. "I think I'll wait for you, maybe you'll move faster." Laughing slightly, he took some bread and started to take small bites. "No, take your time, love. I'm not going anywhere."

She walked into the spring chamber and from the stand next to the spring she took out the lavendar and added it to the water. She stepped into the water and let herself be taken by the feel and scent of it. After she had washed, she dressed in a simple gown and rejoined him. It was nearly moonrise and she would have to contact the priestess soon.
(OOC: Ha I'm moving it along!)
