Taran offered his arm to Aethelwyne, gesturing with the other. "Shall we?" he asked. Together, they walked to face a coven of assassins, a group known for its violence and efficiency. 'We WILL prevail!' he thought.

Taking his arm, Aethelwyne smiled at him, slightly apprehensive, she had counted 33 coveners thus far. "Let's!" she said as they walked across the threshold of the door to the outside. Suddenly she had the funny feeling of time and space folding in on itself. The forces exerted against them were so great that Aethelwyne lost her hold on Taran. "Taran!" she yelled after him. She saw briefly as the magic placed him in the small grove of trees just outside of the castle where she hid when talking with the King. The motion around her began to slow and she saw the ledge from where she had loosed the knife. Panic started to grip her as she was sure Galbatorix had placed wards around the window now. 'What is happening?' Understanding came over her face. The children. It was their power that was moving her when they felt her threatened. At this point they reacted on primal instinct. They would only be able to take her where they had travelled with her. Aethelwyne sent Taran a hurried message as she watched the window to the throne room looming closer. 'Taran! It's the children. Their power. They do this and I cannot control them. I love you no matter what my love!" Aethelwyne lighted on the ledge of the window as the children's magic released her. Crashing into Galbatorix's wards she felt as if she were bound and fell into the throne room itself. Lying on the cold marble floor she felt the agonizing pain of his magic protecting the window overtake her. She felt for Taran 'They didn't know.' She felt their bond still open despite the King's wards. He would see and feel whatever happened. 'My love I am sorry.' A tear rolled down her cheek. She tried to look around but the pain was causing her vision to fail. She spent the majority of her energy to protect the babes that she carried from the effects of the magic. 'I will not let them be harmed!'
Edoc'sil felt as Taran and Aethelwyne were taken. He let out a mighty roar. Grabbing Adurthil gently in his large talon, he headed to Uru'baen. With all of his power he sent the message to Taran and Aethlewyne, 'Adurthil and I are on our way!'

Nashante screamed out in rage as the couple disappeared as they came from the inn. "What in the name of Hecate is going on here!? This is madness!" Her rant carried her for nearly 15 minutes as she lashed out at the closest seithr to her and sent her flying into a nearby tree.
Regaining her composure, she began on her way to Uru'baen. 'I need time to figure out how to explain this to Galbatorix. He will not be pleased!'

Taran stood, dazed by the sudden twist in their plans. He hurried to the window where Aethelwyne had flow into the throne room, but found it heavily warded. He could not pass through the barriers. "Aethelwyne!!!" he shouted at the top of his longs, and with his mind. He reached her with his mind, feeling her suffering and fear. 'I will not abandon you, my love,' he told her. Turning around, several guards appeared, swords drawn. "Drop your weapons!" the captain commanded. Instead, Taran drew his sword, and killed the closest man with choice death word in the Ancient Language. Only five remained. He quickly charged the captain, ascertaining that he would be the more skilled of the group.

Aethelwyne felt Taran outside the castle wall. He was so close. She could see him as he fought. 'Taran. I am with you my love.' She watched as he engaged the five guards. She calmed herself, quieting the fears she felt so that he could draw strength through their bond. Still lying on the marble floor, she was helpless to do anything but give him her strength and resolve of her love to aid him.

Taran dispatched his opponents with ease. Turning back to Aethelwyne, he saw a figure emerge from near the throne, a woman with evil in her eyes. Taran rushed forward, but was stopped and repelled by the wards.

Aethelwyne could feel Galbatorix and Kalri in the room. Their presence was cold and dark. Maintaining her resolve, she ignored her pain. 'Taran' she called to him through their bond, 'Please be careful my love. If anything happens to you I shall not be able to carry on!'

Salian heard the shout form Taran, and hissed. He diverted from his original path and headed to a different spot. Elianora followed silently, her mouth in a grim line. When you can, Torlynden thought happily, get me into the throne room. That's where all the fun is!
Finding Taran, Salian and Elianora took stances at both shoulders. Elianora placed a hand on the shoulder in front of her and muttered her transporting spell. Combined with Salian's spirit magic, her powers aided them right into the throne room, where Galbatorix and a mysterious, evil-spirited woman was.
Two voices roared in Eli's head, one Soranai's and the other an evil, malign one. Let me rip them to shreds! the second voice growled, it's words dripping blood lust. Wihtout thinking, Eli invoked her magic and suddenly, a young, smallish, storm gray dragon appeared in the room. The voice retreated from her mind, replaced by an awful presence in the room. The young dragon roared and bared his teeth at the king.
Salian groaned suddenly and shouted out, "Torlynden, no!" But the dragon had leapt at the king. He pulled back a bit and started drawing on his strange ability to absorb spirits. The slaver winced at some thought and he took his spear from his back.
Elianora moaned, closing her eyes. Soranai, come to me. The small dragon appeared and released a deafening roar. She quickly landed next to Aethel, who stood with Taran. Nora ran up to the two and grabbed one of their arms. "We must leave!" she shouted at Salian. He heard her voice and half-turned. Then he launched himself at Torlynden. Stop it! he roared mentally and physically.

A sudden crackle of power announced that someone had struck the ward Galbatorix had placed on the window. Looking up, he watched as Aethelwyne fell through, onto the marble floor. His eyes widened in surprise, and delight. She lie weakend on the floor, so vulnerable. "Ah, look Kalri. The witch has fallen in my trap." Standing to his feet, he made to go to the siethr. However, seemingly a hundred things happened at once. Three people popped into his throne chamber, then, two small dragons. One of the younglings emenated an evil aura. Suddenly, the gray monster flung itself at him. Galbatorix's face contorted in a fierce mask of rage as he raised a hand and deflected the small dragon's attack. "What is this!" he roared in a booming voice. Black magic began twisting up his arms. "You will all die!" Shruikan, rise and fight!
Behind the throne, the black dragon slowly, almost painfully, rose to his feet. As he rose, he gained height, until he touched nearly the cieling of the massive room. His body was twisted in a coil behind the chair, but when fully extended, he would only fit just barely. By your command. He replied in only a weak whisper. Yet, the dragon made no move. He waited, trying to buy the others time. Galbatorix snarled and raised a hand. He threw a ball of the black magic at the elven man. He knew who this elf was. It could only be the lover of Aethelwynes.

Aethelwyne saw as the ball of black magic lighted its path toward Taran. She threw herself in front of it now free of the magic binding her. The King's attention was too divided to hold it. As the ball collided with her, Taran's mark upon her chest glowed with a silvery-teal light so bright that it illuminated the throne room with it's intensity, acting as a shield. She fell to the floor in front of Taran as the black magic split and passed him by, unscathed. Aethelwyne lay, once again on the cold marble floor. She was able to get one thought through to him before the world went black, 'Taran the power of the babes can get us to Sanctuary. Use your mark, our bond!' Edoc'sil arrived at the palace entrance. Sending message to them that he was here.
********************************************
Kalri heard the commotion from her father's wards. A dark smile played on her lips as Aethelwyne lay on the floor, then the chamber was full and chaos ensued. She watched as her father loosed the black magic at the elf. Then in disbelief as Aethelwyne rose and shielded them from it. Moving quickly to get out of Shruikan's way she made her way toward Taran. "I've always wanted an elf to play with!" The golden flames once again dancing in her eyes, she unsheathed the sword her father had given her. Advancing on Taran she looked at Aethelwyne lying at his feet. "First we dance then I shall have fun opening her up to see what makes her tick!" She advanced upon him, the sword held the reflection of the black dragon with the red eye. 'Sabonth you are needed!' She heard the mighty roar of her dragon as she yelled out to her "Dinner time my pet! All you can eat!"
Sabonth heeded Kalri's call but could not get into to the crowded throne room, flying through the enchantment of the ceiling, she saw the purple dragon by the entrance. Edoc'sil sensed the black dragon before he saw it. Taking off with speed and grace he met the dragon in air above the castle. The dragons collided with a fury of gnashing teeth, snarls and talons clawing for advantage. They fought above as the other fought below.

Galbatorix raised an arm over his eyes, protecting them from the bright, harsh light that emenated from Aethelwyne's mark. As it faded, he lowered his arm and gave a deathly glare to everyone present. Except Kalri, of course. The black tendrils of magic now encased his entire arms, even his neck. It framed his face, giving his features a sinister glow. He marched towards Salian. "You have betrayed me, fool. The penalty is death!" His voice, filled with magic, sounded odd, evil. Raising an arm, he shot a bolt of magic at Salian's chest. Without hesitaion, he immediately shot another at the elf girl standing next to the man.

Taran fumed in anger as Aethelwyne stepped before him to absorb the magic the king had cast at him. The anger was not directed at her, but the king. Taran drew his sword, barely aware of Aethelwyne's words. The king's daughter advanced upon him, her sword drawn and ready. "No, you don't little one," he said to her in reply. Raising his own sword, he deflected her attacks with ease, then in a series of quick slashes and jabs, Taran swept his leg under her, then threw her away as she fell. Placing his hand upon Aethelwyne's forehead, and taking Elianora's hand, Taran shouted at the king. "You will die! By my hand or another's!" he swore in the ancient language. "Eli, take Salian's hand." In the blink of an eye, Taran and the others teleported from the throne room, reappearing outside of the Sanctuary. (OOC: hope that isnt god-moding. )

As the group disappeared from her sight Kalri let out a blood chilling scream of frustration and rage. The elf had bested her...in front of her father! The black magic swirled all around her threatening to blow the throne room leaving it in shambles. She remembered her father's words and controlled her temper. Releasing the black magic, it disappated. She rose from where she had landed and looked around the throne room for her father. She had lost track of him when she focused on the elf.

Doc sensed that Aethelwyne was no longer in danger. With a mighty sweep of his tail he sent Sabonth crashing into the palace doors. Adurthil in talon, he quickly made for where he new he would find Aethelwyne.

Taran released his grip on Elianora's hand, giving his full attention to Aethelwyne. Reaching out with his mind, he felt for her mind, searched for any sign of damage to either her or his children. Touching her mind, Taran sent her an image of where they were. 'We are here, my love. We are all safe. Speak to me,' he said softly to her mind, holding her body in his arms as the tears fell from his face.

Aethelwyne weakly smiled as she opened her eyes to see the face of Taran. "I thought I lost you!' She was too weak to rise but she did manage enough strength to touch his cheek. Her hand fell limply upon her chest then as she was unable to sustain it.

Picking her up lightly in his arms, Taran took her into their sanctuary, their home. Gesturing for the others to follow, Taran walked through the corridors, showing them the kitchen and washroom. Laying Aethelwyne softly on the bed, he quietly took off her armor, then covered her in blankets. "Are you comfortable, my love?" he asked, concern clear in his voice and on his face.
