OOC: Yeah, it was. But, as long as what you did is ok with the others, than it's fine.
Galbatorix's magic bolts shot through thin air. The scream that came from his daughter was the perfect imitation of his feelings. He, too, wanted to scream. He wanted to rip the heads off of everyone and feed them Sabonth. He wanted to personally disembowel his enemies. He stood still for a moment, staring into the now empty space, the black magic swirling around him. They had been so close. He could have had them. All of this trouble could have been over. He closed his eyes and took deep breaths. It was no use, he had to expend some of the raging energy. With a shout of fury that echoed through the room, he released a stream of the black magic, throwing it against the brass doors. The doors were torn from their hinges, ripped apart. The soldiers who stood guard were killed instantly, their bodies also ripped to shreds. Feeling slightly better, he turned and stalked back to Kalri. "I'm glad you kept your temper under control." He realized he must sound like a hypocryte, but he didn't care. "Unfortunately, our foes have escaped." Grinding his teeth together, he looked past Kalri, to Shruikan, who had folded himself back down, behind the throne. And you, you worthless worm! When I tell you to fight, then you fight! Sorry, my lord. I didnt' know who to target. Galbatorix closed his eyes, fighting to retain control of himself. Finally, he looked back at Kalri. "Allright, daughter. Your days of hiding are over. Aethelwyne and her ingrats have gone too far. I beleive that you and Nashante can work together to bring them down. I would join you, but I must stay here to keep other matters under control."

'We need to talk love." Breathing heavily with her exhaustion she struggled. "I need you to come close. Lie with me for a minute. Hold me in your arms." She was very pale and very weak. The ball of black magic, attack from the kings wards and using so much magic to protect the twins left her nearly drained.

Even though this day was a total disaster. Kalri got what she had been waiting for. An evil smile spread across her face as she ran to her father and gave him the biggest hug. She kissed him on the cheek. "Does this mean I can play?" She so looked forward to the mayhem and havoc she so wanted to unleash.

Laying down beside her, tears still in his eyes, Taran took her in his arms. "I'm here, my love, I'm here," he said softly. Kissing her hair, he let the tears fall, wondering what it was she was trying to say. He gave her some of his energy, hoping to relieve some of her pain and stress.

As she felt him lying next to her, she felt his energy. She felt his love and their bond opened, uniting them once again. The mark glowed brightly upon her chest lighting the whole room in the cave. Her strength returned as her heart once again felt whole now that he was with her again. The feelings and thoughts flowed from her to him through their bond.

Embraced in his daughters arms, Galbatorix calmed down considerably, enough to even smile. "Yes, my daughter. You may. However, while in my kingdom, keep the mayhem down to a minimum. ALthough, if you ever happened into Surda... Why, have all the fun you wish!" He held her out at arms length and eyed her sternly. "Just don't get caught." Sighing, he turned to survey the damage to his throne room. Amazingly, the only destruction were a few holes in the walls and the destroyed doors. Oh, and the guards laying in peices on the ground. "I'll have to get that cleaned up soon."

Taran opened himself to her, receiving her thoughts and feelings. He felt whole again. He pulled her tighter against himself, holding her as if she would slip away if he did not. The tears now falling were no longer solely for sorrow or worry, but joy and happiness.

Aethelwyne reached to him feeling relief as her strength slowly returned. "Are you alright beloved. I was so scared when I saw Galbatorix unleash the black energy ball at you." She reacted without thinking. Never had she experienced a fear so great. "I do not think this life you have given me would be worth living without you."
Doc arrived with Adurthil, lighting in the dragon's chamber. He reached to Taran 'Is she well? Is she hurt? If they harmed her I swear I shall take up eating people!'
*********************************************
Kalri looked lovingly at her father. "I promise Father. I will be careful. You have taught me well but if you worry...I could take Mar with me. Would that make you feel better?" She looked to him then at the throne room. Taking a moment to "clean" up the remains of the guards and repair the damage. The black mist swirled freely around her and went forth to dispose of the damage. Sending the pieces of the guards to Sabonth in their room, she mended the walls and the great brass doors. She paused for a moment, thinking hard. "Father you saw the witches magic. I do not think she fully controls it. I think she struggles with the power of the children growing within her." The thought sent a feel of disgust down her spine as she tried to shake it off. "This bond of theirs is strong and powerful but...it seems to also betray their weakness. They will do anything for one another. Did you see the way she sacrificed herself for him? The way he fought to protect her. Each of their concern is solely for the welfare of the other. Disgusting, but very interesting. Perhaps there is something there which can be exploited. The witch was also not as powerful when separated from him. Your wards held her well until the party started." She sat as thoughts of this magic between Taran, Aethelwyne and the unborn babes churned through her devious mind. Examining them, she looked for ways to overcome and exploit this magic and power of theirs.

"Hmmm. You know, I think you have a point."Galbatorix began pacing through the large room, tapping his chin. "Indeed, know that you mention it, it is as you say. They are completely devoted to each other. And the infants the witch carries! Why, were it they who brought her here?" A crazed laugh escaped his throat at the thought. "Maybe after I capture her, I'll keep the twins! After all, they obviously brought her to me." His mind went back to something Aethelwyne had said. 'They don't know what they're doing.' Yes, she must have been referring to her unborn babies. "Interesting, interesting." He muttered. His pacing brought him back to Kalri. "Take whoever you wish, my dear. If it is Mar, then so be it."

Taran still held Aethelwyne, not wanting to ever let her go again. 'Yes, Doc, she is going to be alright. She is just a little tired and drained, but she will be fine,' Taran tried to calm the angered dragon. "I thank you love, but imagine how I would feel if I lost you. Life would be meaningless, pointless. Do not ever do that again, regardless of the situation," he said, a tone of command and love in his voice. Despite not wanting her to be injured, he knew she was as capable as himself, and that knowledge struggled with his instincts to always stand between her and danger.
*********
Mar walked from the side room into the throne room, watching as the kings daughter mended the room. 'She has great magic, yet it is not always stable,' he thought. He kept his distance, not wishing to come between the king and his thoughts.

“I am sorry my love.” She lowered her eyes from his gaze. He was right. What she did was reckless but she had survived her whole life solely on the reactions of her instincts and her instinct had been to save him, even though she knew he was also more than capable of handling himself. She kissed him softly, trailing her kisses lightly from his forehead to the tip of his nose and ending with his lips. “I would do anything that you ask of me darling, you know that, but I am afraid I cannot promise that it won’t happen again.”
She felt Doc, his fury and anger now subsided. ‘Doc are you alright?’ ‘Aethelwyne! Don’t ever do that to me again. I almost lost Adurthil during the fight with Sabonth, though the youngling did manage some very ferocious bites to our dark sister.’ She sensed the worry he felt but did not express. ‘Doc what is it? What worries you so?’
Doc thought for a minute before responding. ‘Taran you need to hear me also. Please listen for this concerns you both. Your bond is very special, that you know…but so are your children. From the womb they wield great power but they are not sentient enough yet to understand or control it. You were right Aethelwyne. They react purely on instinct of the most primal level. They feel both of your feelings and fears and react to them. You must both work together to contain their power. If Galbatorix were to find out he would hunt them relentlessly.”
Aethelwyne looked to Taran, “We really need to test the strength and abilities of this bond Taran, as well as try to figure out how to control the abilities of the children. Maybe tomorrow we should go to the lake below and train to discover what we are now capable of. I fear what may happen if we go into battle again not knowing. We were lucky today.” Remembering Elianora and Salian, “I really should be attending to our guests. We can talk when they are situated. We will need to reinforce the wards around Sanctuary as well.” She started to stand but was still weak. Swaying she reached out to grab hold of something to steady herself.
Kalri felt Mar as he entered the throne room. Briefly she touched her father’s mind, she loved the feel of his mind, it had always made her feel safe and secure in the strength and power of it. ‘Daddy I sent out to Mar. He awaits your instructions. I love you!’ Holding her composure in front of Mar, she looked at her father, love and admiration in her eyes. “As you wish Father, I shall go prepare to leave at once!” With reserve she bowed her head to him, then kissed him lightly on the cheek whispering in his ear. “Thank you Daddy. I love you. I promise to try stay out of trouble.’ Nodding to Mar she left the throne room to return to her room to pack.

Mar inclined his head towards the princess, though he knew should would not like being called such. Taking a few measured steps forward, Mar made sure the king was aware of him before ever seeing him. "My Lord," he said with confidence, hiding his fear behind mountains of barriers that very few would ever be able to penetrate. "I have finished the business in Gilead. I am yours to command. What is it you wish of me?"
Taran caught Aethelwyne as she began to lose her balance. Helping her to sit back down, Taran gathered the blankets around her. "I'm here, love. I know you cannot make that promise, neither can I," he said with worry in his voice. "We should train tomorrow, but for now you must rest. I can attend to our guests, and Doc can watch over you. Rest, my love, for me." He looked into her eyes, pleading with her to listen, at least this once.

She looked softly into his eyes. "Alright my love. For you I will rest but would you help me to the bath? I cannot stand the stench of Galbatorix' magic upon my skin any longer. Then I promise I will rest."

Taran smiled weakly, the mention of Galbatorix bringing horrible memories into his mind. "Of course, my love," Taran said, picking her up and carrying her towards the washroom. Setting her down on a chair, Taran filled the tub with hot water, then pulled the blankets off her as he laid her in the soothing water. "Anything else you need, my love, before I attend to our guests?"

Aethelwyne looked up at him as the heat from the water worked the soreness and stiffness that had beset her muscles. "Need, yes," she looked at him with desire in her eyes, "but I can wait until you attend to our guests." She stiffly tried to move in the water but the pain of her ordeal caused spasms and pain to her. She let out a deep breath and just laid back, closing her eyes. 'I don't like this feeling of helplessness.' She smiled softly at Taran.

Taran smiled at her, loving her even more than he could have possibly hoped to. Leaning down, he kissed her softly on the head, stoking her face softly. "I'll be back shortly my love," he said to her, longing in his own eyes and voice. Taran walked out of the washroom, closing the door behind him. Making his way to the kitchen, Taran saw Adurthil walking through the house. He was amazed at how large the dragon had become, quite nearly the size of a horse. Reaching the kitchen, Taran saw their guests chatting. "If you two would kindly follow me," he said warmly. "I'll show you where you may stay. I'm sure you will find the beds comfortable. Are you two staying in the same bed? Or would you like me to bring in a couch from the living room for you?"
