Taran woke in the middle of the night, the dream's sight still in his eyes. He rose quietly from his bed, taking care not to wake Aethelwyne. He walked softly outside, taking his sword with him. Dressed only in his thin sleeping clothes, Taran made his way up the mountain side, to find out if his mos recent dream was true..

Aethelwyne awoke with a strange feeling. She reached for Taran but he was not there. Mastering her fear, she reached into their bond. His mark upon her chest glowed and she saw him, sword in hand ascending the mountain side. She threw on her gown and grabbing her bracelets, hurridly put them on as she followed him. She saw him just ahead of her.

Taran could feel Aethelwyne was awake through their bond, but he did not stop, only increased his speed. 'It's happening,' he thought, though with no real emotion. Strapping his sword to his waist, he drew the blade. As he neared the top, he could feel the presence, and it knew he was there. Taran emerged from a thicket into a large clearing at the top of the mountain. There, in the center of the clearing, stood a lone figure of a woman, clad in a dark cloak and a stolen rider's sword in her hand. "I'm here," he said above the howling wind. The woman turned to face him, her pointed teeth and pale skin in stark contrast with the dark night. Taran knew the figure, knew it with all certainty. Gripping his sword tighter, he walked forward. Putting wards around himself, piling up barriers in his mind, Taran prepared for the fight ahead. "I'm ready, Reka, though I do not wish this. If I could change what I did, or at least how I did it, I would." "Oh, I know, but that is not to be decided here. I have come for a completely other reason," said the shade, her voice a harsh and blood filled jumble of words. Reka let out a shriek, then charged Taran. Taran brought up his sword, deflecting the blow and bringing his own to slash up at her leg. "And so it begins...sister."

When Salian returned to his room, he found Elianora curled up next to Torlynden, one arm draped around the dark neck. The dragon's eyes were open and bored. When Salian questioned him about why Eli was there, Torl replied, She wanted to know about me. She sensed a dark aura around me. He sounded almost puzzled. Do I seem evil to you?
Salian shrugged. "I don't really know," he murmured. He decided not to move Elianora, and he grabbed the blanket off his bed. Making sure that it was securley wrapped around her, he thought of what Torl had said. He pondered that even when Torl had fallen back asleep.
Taking off his shirt, he he climbed onto his bed. Arms beneath his head, he stared at the ceiling. What do I believe?

Aethelwyne reached the clearing to see Taran and the Shade locked in the heat of battle. She faltered, not knowing what to do. She sat quietly, out of sight. Opening her bond to him but warding it from the shade, she sent the strength of her love. Suddenly thinking, she drew down the moon through ancient ritual. Channeling its energy, she renewed her strength. She could serve as conduit to fortify and strengthen him further. She concentrated with all her might on her love channeling power to him for his fight.

Taran sidestepped Reka, then brought his sword down to disarm her. Breathing softly, he knew Aethelwyne was there, lending him strength. Placing the tip of his sword at her throat, he knelt down beside her. "Reka..." he said softly. "My sister...let her go. She cannot control you anymore, you have the power to free yourself." He put his arm around her, using his new power of the moon to retch the evil spirit from her, sending it deep below the earth. Reka opened her eyes, looking gratefully at Taran, tears falling from her deep blue eyes. "Thank you brother," she said, wrapping him in her arms. "I love, and am glad you made the right choice this time," she said with a smile. Rising, Taran pulled her with him. 'Aethelwyne, come meet my sister. I've told you about her before, only I never told you the entire story.' Taran contacted Aethelwyne. "Reka, I want you to meet someone very dear to me." Taran gestured towards the brush where Aethelwyne was hidden, his arm still around her shoulders.

Aethelwyne released the power of the moon. Standing she made her way out of the thicket to Taran. She saw the woman standing with him, his sister, and smiled to her. She was nervous. "Are you okay Taran?"

Elianora awoke feeling warm and comfortable. Something behind her back shifted and growled. Turning her head, she saw that she rested against Torlynden's storm gray side. Then she looked for Salian. He sat on his bed, bare-chested, with his spear on his lap. He stared at the carvings along the shaft, tracing one hand over them. Then he noticed Eli's gaze and smiled. "Good morning," he said.
"Have I been here all night?" Eli asked, pulling the blanket off. She stood and stretched, doing the first couple of steps in the Rimgar.
"Yes." Salian arose from his bed and picked the blanket up off the floor. He tossed it carelessly onto the bed. "I was just waiting for you to awake. You slept quite a while."
Elianora's stomach rumbled slightly and she smiled cordially at Salian. "Thank you for your hospitality. Now, perhaps we should find our hosts, and beg for our breakfast."
Sal nodded and reached for his shirt. He slipped it on while Elianora thanked Torlyn. The dragon nodded and told Salian that he would find breakfast, being careful not to picture just how he would tear it to pieces before devouring it. Fine. I hope you have a good hunt. The dragon stood and paused. Looks like Soranai is hungry, too. Then he walked off.
Elianora smiled after the dragon before turning to Salian. She placed one hand on his arm, unaware of the shiver that crawled up Salian's arm at her touch, and nodded to the door. "Come. Let us seek out the morning."
Salian nodded mutely. The two left the room together.

Taran smiled at her concern for him, then walked over to her. Taking her in his arms, he gave her a long kiss before turning her to his sister. "Aethelwyne, this is my sister, Reka. Reka, this is my wife, Aethelwyne. Aethe, you remember what I told you about fighting that shade? Well, it was Reka, my sister. I could not bring myself to kill her, so I did not stike her through the heart, only severed her head. She reappeared somewhere, and somehow found her way here. She was possessed by an evil spirit when we visited an old ruin. But now she is free."

Aethelwyne smiled at Reka. Bowing her head to her, "Reka it is my pleasure to meet you." She looked to Taran "You both must tell me all about it. Shall we return to Sanctuary?" She briefly touched his mind. 'I am happy for you my love!'

Taran put his arms around his sister and Aethelwyne, then turned them towards the moon. "No, let us stay here for a while longer. My sister, I am afraid cannot stay with us much longer. She has been freed of the evil spirit, but without it she cannot pass the night," he said with sorrow, yet joy, in his voice. "And," he added. "Something has not happened yet that must."

Elianora and Salian roamed the house until they ended up in the room where they had first arrived. They paused, unsure of where to go. They had not seen any sign of their hosts, and Elianora frowned. "I wonder where they could be," she said.
Salian didn't say anything. he was too preoccupied with the thought that Elianora stood right next to him, one hand on his arm. Without thinking, he reached with his other hand and squeazed the delicate one resting on his arm. Nora's eyes looked up at him, and her frown turned to his hand on hers. Then she looked up again.
Strange thoughts whirled through Salian's head when her eyes met his. He turned his head away, his breathing quick.
Cautiously, Elianora reached up with her other hand, a gesture that pressed her closer to Salian, and grabbed his face, pulling it toward her. There was a look in his eyes that she had not liked, and she wanted to see if it was still there.
As his face turned back to Eli's, Salian's heart raced. Looking down at her, two thoughts entered his head. On impulse, he lowered his head and kissed the top of Eli's. Holding his lips there, he waited for her to pull away. When she didn't, he sought for her lips and kissed them. Across the mental link, Torlynden laughed.

Aethelwyne looked questioningly at Taran. "What is it love? What must happen."

When Salian's lips touched hers, Elianora's first thought was rejection. Then she relaxed and enjoyed the feel of his lips on hers. She knew that not pulling away was dangerous waters. But she didn't care. Not now.

Taran did not answer, only stared out to where the sun would rise in a manner of minutes. "I want to spend the last moments with my brother," Reka said sadly. "As we did long ago." Taran smiled and kissed his sister's forehead affectionately. "And there is something else that will happen," Taran said, looking back as the sun began to rise. In a bright flash, the sun jumped above the horizon, sending light to all the world. Low in the horizon, a black dot began lifting itself higher and higher in the sky. Taran smiled, stepping forward in anticipation. "Here it is" he said. The dot grew larger and larger as it neared them. Taran reached out his hand to the figure, his mark glowing brightly. The dragon came into view, still partially hidden by the light of the sun. "I give to you Adurthil, master of the water!" Taran shouted to his sister and Aethelwyne.
