Taran put his arm around the shoulders of his wife. "I know, Aethe," he said. "But we would do her no good getting ourselves captured or worse. What do you think she would do? Would she rush out, exhausted and sick, or wait for the most opportune time?"

"I know you're right my darling but my mind races. I do not think that I will be able to rest, let alone sleep this night." She kissed him lightly, stroking his cheek. "I am blessed to have you." He was the balance that had been lacking from her life. The voice of reason that kept her from reacting solely on instinct.

"I know. I'm not sure I will get much either," he said. "But all the same, we should stay at least one more day. It is very cold outside, and we have little to protect ourselves with." He stood, walking over to the fire to put on more logs. Standing erect again, he stretched out his back. He was sore from all the moving he had done the night before and during that day. Pulling a large fur blanket from a closet, he sat on the bed again, staring into the fire.

Aethelwyne sensed his discomfort. "Come here darling." She pulled his shirt from him and gestured for him to lie down on the bed. Going to the shelf, she pulled the lavendar linament down and walked back over to the bed. "I'm sorry for the smell darling but it really wil take out the stiffness and soreness. I'm afraid it doesn't smell very manly though."

Taran smiled at her, doing as she instructed. "Yes, doctor," he said. "And just as a side note, it takes a real man to to smell like that."

She smiled at his words. "Then my love, you will wear it well!" She climbed next to him upon the bed and warmed the linament in her hands before placing them upon his skin. His muscles were tense and knotted. Slowly she worked at them, trying to release the pain and relax the tension she felt beneath her fingers.
"Are you alright my love? You're body shows more than simple strain from lifting."

Taran did not move, or say anything at first, only let Aethelwyne work the knots from his muscles. He sighed, wiping his hair from his face. "I think it's a combination of many things, Aethe," he told her, still not turning to look at her. "We have been on the run for a while now, and between worrying about what to do next and the health of you and the children, I've just been stressed a little. But, we now have a semblance of a plan, so most of that tension should melt away, especially with this touch of yours." He tilted his head to look at her, a smile on his lips.

Smiling, she continued to work his muscles, easing the tension from them. "Everything will be fine love. I feel it!" She bent forward placing her kiss softly on his back. Her eyes danced with happiness as she told him playfully, "You smell pretty!"

Taran frowned at her, shaking his head. "No, love," he said firmly. "I smell HANDSOME, understand the difference?" He smiled at her, sending her images that would make her blush.

Blushing, she told him "I am sorry my darling but I still say you look handsome...but smell pretty!" She laughed softly as she sent images back to him. She leaned forward to kiss him softly upon his shoulders.

Taran blushed, then sent her more images. "Well, I guess I'll just have to deal with smelling pretty," he said with a smile.

"Aye my love, smelling pretty but..." she purred lightly as the words fell softly from her lips "never looking as handsome as you do right now." She continued to slowly work the muscles on his back. The thought came to her as she felt her love for him. Leaning forward, she whispered into his ear "Rest now my love." As she felt his muscles relax under her touch, she knew he had let sleep take him.
Aethelwyne rose and made her way into the kitchen. Cleaning up the mess from the day, she prepared the dinner she would have waiting for him when he awakened. She set the table and set candles upon it. Next she put more logs onto the fire, stoking it for the night. She went back to the bed chamber and changed into a long flowing violet gown.
She felt alive and in love more than she could have ever believed possible. Letting her love for Taran flow from her, she heard a soft, slow melody drifting on the night air. All of nature sounded in symphony at the feelings expressed by the happiness in her heart. She lit the candles on the table, their soft glow casting shadows against the walls of the cave. They seemed to dance a slow, graceful dance around her. Swept up in the feelings within her she began to sway softly to the sounds upon the air.

Taran woke slowly, comfortably. He picked up his head, his back and body completely relaxed. He smiled at the smell of a good meal, standing slowly. He caught Aethelwyne out of the corner of his eye, dressed nicely. He snuck out of the room into a smaller one, taking a nice set of clothes with him. He changed quickly, checking himself in the mirror. Leaving the room, he headed for the kitchen. He stopped at the doorway, leaning against the post. "So, you used magic to put me asleep?" he asked accusingly, but with a playful tone. "Thank you, love."

She turned, smiling at him. "I am sorry but I thought you could use the rest. Forgive me?" The candlelight danced playfully in her eyes. Walking to him, she took him in her arms. "Dance my darling?"

Taran did not accept her embrace at first, building the tension. he did not even smile. Looking at her with a blank expression, he turned slightly, as if to leave. Stopping, he turned back to her, picking her up in his arms and spinning around the room. He smiled and kissed her. "Sure, Aethe," he said. "Let's dance."
