Taran smiled, standing. "I have no idea, ma'am. Now, what were we up to before you tried to kill me?"

"I believe this!" She waved her hand in front of her face again, not paying any attention, she duplicated Kalri's look. Long brown hair, brown eyes, the spitting image.

Taran jumped back, hitting his head on the wall and falling to the ground. Before all went black, he saw Aethelwyne coming to him. "Not funny," he said as the blackness took him.

Aethelwyne looked in the mirror and saw Kalri staring back at her. The reflection was so shocking it caused her to jump back. Quickly she waived of the guise and ran to Taran. This time he was not playing.
Aethelwyne quickly gathered a cold rag and ran to him. Holding her hand above him, she checked for injuries. He had knocked himself unconscious on the wall. She held her hand above him and in the ancient language, spoke the healing words. The magic glowed purple from her gedwey insignia. She placed the cold rag on his head as she cradled it in her lap. Rocking slowly, she sang to him, softly. Her song reflecting her sorrow and remorse.

Taran slowly opened his eyes, a dark film covering everything at first. The film gradually faded away, leaving his sight normal. He looked up at Aethelwyne, seeing the remorse in her eyes. He reached up, touching her cheek. "It's alright, love," he said. "I'm alive. Now, don't YOU ever do that again." He smiled, letting his feelings of love reach her.

Aethelwyne leaned over and kissed him gently. "I'm sorry darling. I wasn't thinking. I just thought brown hair, brown eyes. The image even startled me when I looked in the mirro..." Her voice trailed off as the thought crossed her mind.

Taran saw the thought forming in Aethelwyne's mind. Immediately, he shook his head. "No, it is too dangerous. The king will know the difference. Your minds are completely different."

"But it could work. It would at least get us into the city undetected. No one would dare stop her. They all cower from her." She looked at him as she thought some more.

"Love, it is still too dangerous. What if she is there, and the guards wonder why they saw her enter the city twice, but not leave? It is foolish. There has to be another way." He was pleading with her. If the slightest thing went astray, then their lives would be in danger.

"Fine for now. I'll continue to think about it but we should really get going." She kissed him softly as she went to get the last of her things.

Taran carefully stood, letting the pounding in his head subside before hoisting the pack over his shoulders. 'Adurthil, I am sorry I have not spoken to you. How are you and Doc?' he asked his dragon. 'Cold and bored! I didn't know it could ever get this cold without snowing!' Taran smiled. 'That is because it's too cold to snow. We are coming out. Do you think you and Doc could fly us down? I know it will be hard, but do you think you two can do it?' There was silence for a time. 'Yes, we should be able to. But you two will have to split up. Neither of us can carry you both at this height.' Taran nodded, though the dragon would not be able to see him. 'Very well. Thank you, Adurthil. We are coming soon.'

Aethelwyne wrapped her fur cloak around her and grabbed her pack. 'Doc? Are you ready to get out of here?' She felt his answer more than she heard it. Doc hated the cold. He sent her pictures of being so cold that he couldn't manage a flame. 'We are on our way my friend.'
Looking to Taran she asked, "Ready love?"

Taran looked at her with a smile. "Yes, love, I am ready." He opened the door, wrapping himself in a warm fur jacket. "Doc will take you, and I'll ride Adurthil. I'll meet you soon love," he said, kissing her then climbing atop Adurthil.

His kiss was soft upon her lips. She turned to the mightly purple dragon, lightly brushing the scales on his neck with her hand. 'I'm sorry Doc, for everything.' Edoc'sil lowered his nose as he nuzzled her lightly on the shoulder.
'Can you please get on now little one? It's colder than a witch's ti...' he stopped abrubtly as she eyed him narrowly.
'Colder than a witch's what?' she asked him with a slight laugh.
'Well you know. It's very cold.'
She climbed atop Edoc'sil and they made their way to the edge of the landing. As he stood looking out over the open sky, rocks crumbled and fell over the edge. The dragon leapt and began a carefully thought out free fall. Unfurling his wings, he glided away from the mountain.
It felt good to fly again. The wind, though cold, exhilirated her.

Taran rubbed Adurthil's scales as he sat atop the mighty dragon. He began to remember the exhilaration, the thrill, of flying and wondered why he had not flown it more. As the dragon waited at the ledge for Doc to get a safe distance, Taran looked off into the distance towards Uru'baen. 'We wil be seeing you soon, Galbatorix,' he thought, 'and you will someday taste my steel, this I swear.' The dragon leaped off the ledge, the cold air hitting Taran in the face like a wall. Though it was cold, it made him smile. He truly enjoyed the feeling of flight.
