Aethelwyne felt Taran and Adurthil behind her. She set her gaze out toward Uru'baen. Mar should not be too difficult to track down. She worried though that in finding him they would run into Kalri.

The descent down the mountain was much easier than the climb. Within an hour, they were back at sanctuary, where they stopped for a meal and break. Landing, Taran drew his sword and scanned the area with his mind, searching for danger. He found none. He waited for Aethelwyne and Doc to land, though he knew they needed time to talk.

Aethelwyne and Doc landed shortly after Taran and Adurthil. Doc made his way into the Dragon's keep after Aethelwyne dismounted. She walked to Taran. Happy to see Sanctuary, their first home, even if it was for just a brief rest.

Aethelwyne followed him. She was hungry.

Taran took some fruit from his saddle bags, giving some to Aethelwyne and eating some himself. The food felt good to his stomach, filling him.

Aethelwyne ate the fruit that he handed to her. Deep in thought she asked him, "Do you think we can make Furnost before dark or should we set our sights on Petrovya at the northern edge of Tudosten lake?"

Ferlan stood at the door of his home, hardly able to keep the smile off his face. He was free! He had conquered the darkness within him! Fethrfricai twittered happily from his shoulder. This was the first time she had seen him smile in a long time. Come on, Fethrfricai! It is time to find Nora! Elianora! Oh, how sweet her name sounded now! He must find her! But where? Where? He had not seen her in so long, he hardly knew where to start. But he knew he had to start somewhere. He walked away from the house, bird on his shoulder, to find his long-lost love.

Taran thought for a moment, trying to figure the distance in his mind. "I don't know, Aethe," he said. "I'm not that good with distances I can't see with my eyes."

Elianora shuddered as an unexplained joy rippled through her. Soranai! Did you feel that?
The pale blue dragon raised her head, humming softly. Yes. It seems one we have met before is freed. But how can we sense this?
I know not, my friend, but it seems to me like Ferlan is free. Perhaps Fethrfricai is still able to hear my thoughts and vice versa. Smiling, Elianora felt out across the leagues with her mind, searching for her little twittery friend. Their minds met and Elianora greeted the bird with joy. Oh feather-friend! I sense your joy! The connection was weak from distance, so Elianora used her magic to aid the bond. My friend, I am in grave peril, and so are my friends! I am held captive in Helgrind!
Salian shifted, awaking to Elianora's bright face. Suspicion for his mind mingled with Torlynden's at her look of joy. Salian's cold assassin blood took over, and he grabbed Elianora's shoulder taking control again. Soranai roared once in pain, and then abated as Salian dug through Eli's mind for the cause of her joy. A shield barred what he searched for from him and he growled. "I'll find out eventually," he spat, releasing Eli. She slumped backward onto her mattress, eyes blank.
I will kill you for our pain, Soranai said with anger.
Go ahead and try, Torlynden countered, taking a fighting stance behind Salian. The blue dragon subsided, but only just.

Fethrfricai sang for joy at the sound of Soranai's voice, telling Ferlan what the dragon had told her. WHen the contact was suddenly cut of the bird let out a cry. "In danger! At Helgrind!" Ferlan was more than worried. He was down-right scared for Nora. THe bird expressed worry and fear as well. Reaching for the deep magic which Ferlan hod now learned to control, he said, "Take us to Helgrind!" Such a feat would be impossible through normal magic, but Ferlan could now traverse the entrie country of Alagaesia if he wished. When he reached the huge mountain, Ferlan gazed up the dark, rocky edge. Eli was in there somewhere. He knew he had to save her.

Aethelwyne just shook her head. "Alright love." She smiled softly to herself. She stood, walking into Sanctuary. It was empty now but she could still feel their love within the walls.

Taran looked after Aethelwyne, wondering exactly what she meant. He followed her quietly, his feet making no imprint on the ground. Love and joy radiated from his very soul, filling the halls and rooms.

Elianora was back on the lake beneath the bridge, but now she fought it. Fought it heart and soul. For if she did not, she knew she could never be with Ferlan. She could not, would not hold for that, not now when Ferlan was free from his demons. With a desperate bid for freedom, she called out to the side of the bridge that held the living world. "Save me!" The words echoed in the surreal air.
Salian started at the sound of Elianora's voice, staring at her pained look. Those who had their spirits broken weren't supposed to talk, or feel any measure of pain. Yet he had evidenced both. "What are you?" he wondered.
Soranai touched her nose to Eli's side. I am here, dear one. And I sense Ferlan nearby. The name was familiar, but she couldn't place a proper face with it.

Ferlan heard her voice. He felt her presence. Searching desparately, he looked for any opening in the dark, looming mountain. She saw none with his own eyes, but felt an opening with magic. He felt Elianora just beyond, but something was wrong. Frethrfricai reached out and found Soranai. What is going on? she asked as Ferlan desparately ran through the opening.
