There is another, powerful rider here with an extremely evil dragon. The rider can control a person's spirit by pushing his spirit into them by touch. They are both formidable foes, Soranai answered.
Salian felt the spirit of an elf approaching, and readied himself by taking up his spear and hiding by the entrance to the cave, out of sight from anyone entering. He made his thoughts and expression stony. Torlynden growled low and deep, a challenge to the on-coming elf. No one shall steal our prey. He positioned himself beside Soranai, taking her neck in his mouth. She didn't move, fearing for her life. I won't kill her, Torlynden reassured Salian. And they waited.

Fethrfricai twittered a warning to Ferlan, telling him there was an evil Rider in there. Ferlan reached out with his mind, feeling past any coldness in the area. He felt Eli in there, and Soranai. He also felt two other presences and guessed that they were the one holding her love captive. He felt Soranai full of fear and this enraged him. Nora didn't seem to feel much of anything. Ferlan held no weapon in his hand, but felt for his magic, placing a ward upon himself and Fethrfricai. If anything were to happen to him when he entered, the ward would stop it, no matter how strong the attack. He entered the cave.

Salian felt the ward appear around the elf, a tall, star-light haired figure with a bird on his shoulder. Salian cursed to himself, and moved to stand behind the elf, preparing to use his magic. "Hello, elf. One does not often meet one of your kind in Helgrind," he said.
Torlynden smiled around Soranai's neck. One wrong move and I kill this one, he warned. I will tear her apart with pleasure.

Ferlna heard Salian behind him. Turning, he faced the man who had taken captive his love. "That is because only evil lurks here," he replied, "But you have brought a good thing here, and I and here to take her back." He glanced at Nora, who was sitting off to the side with a blank, but pained expression on her face. The sight of her like that made him angry, but he kept his cool. "What have you done to her?" he asked, hiding all his anger away from him. He was biding his time, hoping to get the large grey dragon's teeth off of Soranai's neck before he rescued them. It would be a pain to have to pry those mighty jaws open.

Salian smiled slightly. "What? Are you her long lost love? Come to rescue her achingly pure soul?" he taunted. "And for your information, I have taken possession of her soul. Her mind expression comes from her trying to escape my grasp, something not easily done." He smirked. "And Torlynden would never forgive you if you took away his prey. Why don't you leave? The king doesn't want you -- I don't even know how or why you're here, and you aren't going to get Elianora back."
Not without killing one of them, Torlynden added. And I might be hungry for a snack. He eyed Fethrfricai with evil storm-gray eyes.

Ferlan stared into this man's eyes, the silver-blue of his own shining in the dark, betraying deeper knowledge than anyone might have guessed at first sight. "Give her to me," he said gently, "and I will leave. Give me both Elianora and Soranai, and we will go peacefully. I will not leave until I have them both." He walked slowly toward Nora and placed a hand on her face, caressing her gently. He searched for her, wanting to let her know he was here. "Nora," he whispered to her gently, brushing her golden hair away from her face. He kissed her forhead softly, trying so hard to let her know he was here.

Elianora felt Ferlan, dimly, from where she floated in Salian's grasp. She wanted to go to him, touch him, feel him. Though his hand and lips touched her, only the her body, en empty shell, could feel it. Her soul was only vaguely aware of it. She reached out for Ferlan, whispering, for that was all she could manage, "My love." She relaxed, knowing, somehow, that he was near.
Salian saw Ferlan caress Elianora with little emotion. What did it matter to him if the girl had a lover? The only thing that mattered was that he was a problem. Galbatorix would not be lenient if Salian failed him again.
From where he stood, planning a way to make Ferlan leave without too much violence, Salian felt Ferlan trying to reach Elianora, and her own weak response. Her heard her whisper something to the elf, and an idea formed in his mind.
Torlyn shook with suppressed laughter as he caught thought of the plan. Do it, he urged.
Using his connection with Elianora, Salian made her push Ferlan's hand away and move over, away from the elf. She stood and reached for the dagger at her waist. With a silent command, she raised the dagger to her throat, walking slowly closer to Salian. Her face was calm, controlled now. No love, no emotion.
Soranai stared at her with wide eyes. Eli, no! she screamed. She lashed out at Torlynden with her spiked tail, tearing through his scales. The gray dragon roared in pain, releasing his hold on her neck. She shot forward over the beds, but stopped when Eli raised her arm to slit her own throat.
"I don't think Elianora is going anywhere for now," Salian said, stepping up behind the half-elf. "And you, elf, had better try not to contact her again like that."

Ferlna grew in anger as Salian controlled Nora, threatening to slit her throat. But now that the grey dragon had release his hold on Soranai, he saw his chance. Finding the deep magic buried deep down himin him, he said, "Letta!" The entire world around him grew still and silent. He walked lovingly to Eli and pried the dagger out of her hand. Then he turned back to Salian. "You will give her to me, or I will keep you like this forever!" The burning anger showed in his eyes, and he was getting close to losing the control he had worked to gain over the years. "Let her go or you will stand here until you and your dragon starve to death!" It was no idle threat. He could hold them like this forever if necessary.

"Then you kill your love as well. She obeys none but me." He strengthened his hold on her by forcing more of his magic onto her spirit, onto her mind, onto her heart. Salian knew that they were in a standstill, with neither side willing to give. He hoped he could outmatch this elf, though the odds were against him.
Stupid creature, I will KILL him for this! Torlynden hissed, letting his rage grow. He will regret the day he was born! Smoke trailed from his nostrils, and he glared viciously at Ferlan, wishing him all manner of evil.
Elianora stood like a statue, breathing only because of habit. She winced as Salian strengthened his hold on her. No thought penetrated his vile shield around her very essence. She was his, for good or ill.
On the water, Elianora slowly drifted closer to the Nether, unable to control it. Her spirit managed a small amount of rebellion. Deep, unavoidable shock wrapped around her as she realized a terrible truth: The evil in Salian and Torlynden that had a hold on her was killing the light within her soul. She was dying.

Ferlan was as angry as the grey dragon behind him--dangerously angry. He stared into Salian's eyes, determined to release Nora. Before he could stop himself, the darkness roared up inside of him. His eyes turned completely black, and then evil power within him grasped hold of Salian and began to drain the life out of him. But then Ferlan's own mind kicked back in. If he killed Salian, Nora would die as well. With desparation and sadness, he tore the evilness out of the world and buried it far into his mind. Ferlan panted for breath when he came back to himself. THe situation was getting dangerous. If he got much angrier, he may be unable to control himself. If he lost control, countless people would die. How do I get her back to me? he wondered.

Salian gasped, sweat forming on his skin, as the darkness attacked him. Torlynden growled, trying to absorb some of the evil to protect Salian. The attack was too fierce, and Salian was forced to release Elianora, using the energy he released to keep himself alive. Then the darkness left him, and he almost sagged to the floor. Torlynden kept him upright, giving him strength. "What was that?" Salian said and thought.
Something more evil than I, Torlynden responded without emotion. This elf is more dangerous than I thought. His dark side almost took control, but he bested it. Probably was concerned that his girlfriend would die when you did.
Elianora gasped, her spirit restored to her body. She swayed weakly, unable to support herself. Soranai immediately gave her strength. Love swelled across the link, and Eli actually smiled. Turning her head, she saw Ferlan. Free. Her heart leapt with joy and love for the elf. "Ferlan!" she said weakly, trying to move to him. She took a step, tripped, and fell forward, unable to catch herself.

Ferlan caught Nora before she fell and held her. He held her for a very long time, not caring who was there. Not caring that Salian was watching. He kissed her lightly, stroking her golden hair. Then he turned to face Soranai. "Let's go," he told the dragon, carrying Eli out of the cave. When they were a safe distance, he let go of the power he held over Salian and Torlynden. Then he whispered softly, "Take us home."

Soranai followed Elianora and Ferlan out of the cave, pausing to growl at the greatly weakened Salian. Next we meet. . . . she threatened before leaving. As they appeared in front of Ferlan's treehouse, she said, We should take Eli to Sanctuary. She has a friend there that is worried for her, and all of her items are there.
Elianora didn't speak, to weary and overcome with wonder. Here she was, in Ferlan's loving arms, a place where she had longed to be for oh so long. She gazed up at Ferlan with loving, tri-colored eyes, which shown more blue now, barely noticing his house. "I love you Ferlan, and I knew you could win against your devils," she whispered.
OOC: I'll post Sal's side later, when I have more time.

Ferlan leaned down and placed his lips on hers. He smiled at her. "I just hope I never have occasion to get that angry at someone again. I almost fell back into its grasp. Only the thought of you brought me back." He kissed her again. "I love you, Nora..." He turned to look at Soranai. "All right, I will take her there, but first I think she needs some rest."

"I almost died, but you saved me. Your devils actually saved me," Eli whispered nestling down in Ferlan's arms. She felt tired. Oh so tired! But she couldn't sleep, not now, with Ferlan so close. She had to treasure every moment.
Struggling, she dropped from Ferlan's grasp, landing on her feet. "No, I must. . . go to Santuary," she said, leaning against Soranai.
The dragon nudged her gently with her large blue, scaly nose. He is right, love. You need rest. But Elianora denied the claim again.
