With Tenel Ka in his arms, Romulus was in perfect bliss as they kissed passionately. He breathed in for some much needed air as she parted from him, an innocent grin on his face. "Are you insinuating that I would take advantage of you?" His grin turned more devious as she drew in to kiss him again. His perfect moment with Tenel Ka was soon interrupted by the alarmed voice of a man. Rom nearly choked when Tenel Ka called him "Father." As she turned from him sharply, he quickly removed his chained hands from Tenel Ka, feeling very embarrassed and nervous as he faced his lover's father. He withheld an annoyed groan at the mention of the suitors. He would have to kick them out soon; they were definitely not needed. Romulus motioned to stand next to Tenel Ka. "My lord, I apologize for this, um, way of finding out about us." He felt very awkward right now. "I, I am Romulus Kingsley. I am from Aeglaesia, and I am here to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage; I love her with all my heart." Romulus declared with all the courage he possessed. He refrained from looking at Tenel Ka, as he was standing in front of her father and found it inappropriate to be hyponotized by her. Yes, it was his intention to propose to her, granted, he wanted it to be a bit more romantic, and he of course, wanted her to be the first one to know, but when facing the father of the woman you loved, well, you would have to sacrifice some luxurious to appease him.

Tenel Ka looked just as shocked as her father and Rom's abrupt declaration. She hadn't been expecting him to say something like that! Still, she couldn't help but feel pleased, knowing that he wanted to marry her. "You want to marry my daughter?" her father asked after he finally found his tounge. "What sort of standing to you have that you would seek the Queen Mother's hand? She has plenty of other suitors who have made the same request." "And none of them I have returned, Father," Tenel Ka stated evenly, regaining her courage. "I care for none of them, neither their riches nor their flattery. I love Romulus, and I have for a long time. I wish to accept his proposal of marriage." "He has just admitted that he is not of Ismalian blood. Why would you ever choose to marry this foreigner?" the prince protested. Tenel Ka's diplomatic mind began to work. "Aside from the reason I have already mentioned," she stated, "A marriage with him would strengthen our alliance with Alagaesia, should ever the need arise that either land require assistance from the other. Really, Father, such a union would be quite practical." "And what do you have to say for yourself, Romulus Kingsley?" her father demanded. "Do you have any sort of standing in your land? What have you to offer my daughter?"

"I do." Romulus replied to the question of wanting to marry Tenel Ka. "With all my heart I do." He added, feeling surreal as they spoke. He listened as Tenel Ka and her father spoke, feeling a bit smugged at the fact that Tenel Ka didn't care for the suitors. His heart raced pleasantly as she declared to her father that she loved him and wanted to marry him. He couldn't help the grin that formed on his lips.
"I can offer my heart and life to your daughter." Romulus began, never liking the idea of flaunting around silly titles; they meant nothing when compared to the human heart. "I will give her the comforts of love and home that she desires and deserves. I will give her happiness, my lord." He paused, "but that does not answer your question, you wish to know my standing? Very well, I shall give you my appropriate title then, for I am Duke Romulus Kingsley, the half-elf Ranger of Gil'aed." His amber eyes studied Isolder, hoping that his answer was acceptable.

Tenel Ka studied her father's face carefully as Rom spoke. The sentiments he expressed were similar to the reasons she knew he gave when he married her mother. As he had been the eldest prince, Isolder was expected to marry one of the more noble women from the city. However, Tenel Ka's mother had been a middle-class merchant's daughter, neither primed to suited for her role as queen. Still, the two loved each other and married, and the new queen learned how to live as such. Because of this, Tenel Ka could sense her father's approval despite his stoic face as Rom gave stated what he could offer her. He seemed a little surprised at the title, or perhaps the mention that Rom was half-elf. She couldn't tell which. "And if you came here to request my daughter's hand, why are your own bound?" he asked. Tenel Ka rolled her eyes. "Because the palace guards are overprotective idiots," she explained. She held up the keys Dastan had given to her. "Actually, I was just about to release him." Isolder nodded. "Very well, Romulus. As my daughter is the Queen Mother, she may marry whomever she pleases." His eyes softened for a moment as they met Tenel Ka's. He smiled, though it was almost sad. "You have my blessing, daughter. I hope this man proves worthy of you." Tenel Ka smiled back and gave him a quick hug, glad that he approved of Rom. Although it was true she could marry whomever she pleased, his opinion mattered to her deeply. "Thank you, Father," she told him. It seemed to take Isolder a moment to regain his composure. "Well, now. I suppose I should inform your grandmother and the rest of the court that you have made your decision," he said. Tenel Ka blinked once, thinking of her grandmother. If there was one person whose approval she was not expecting, if was Tamar Fam's. As her father walked away, she turned and made a face to Rom. "Ugh...I forgot all about my grandmother," she told him. She moved to unbind his hands. "It might take a while, if ever, before she will like you, I am certain."

Romulus let out a small breath once Isolder disappeared, thankful that that encounter was now over. He was extremely glad that Isolder didn't pry further about the shackles or had heard about the guards bringing him to Tenel Ka last night. That would have been another uncomfortable conversation. At the mention of her grandmother, Rom gave Tenel Ka a comforting stare. "Is she really that bad?" He asked her, as Tenel Ka never fully divulged to him on who Tamar Fam was or what she had previously done. "I'm sure she'll grow to like me...wait," he manuevered his shackles out of her reach, "what are you doing?" He gave her a playful grin, "I thought I was your prisoner?" Romulus knew that he was being selfish as he desired to occupy Tenel Ka's time; she had her duties to attend to as Queen, but he really couldn't help himself around her. His mind drifted onto marriage as he continued to stare at her lovingly. "I'm sorry I didn't propose properly..." He gave her a sheepish grin, "I was hoping to make it a bit more romantic...but, your Father caught me off guard...and well..."His voice trailed off, "Um, I do mean it though, Tenel Ka. If you'll have me, I'll be blessed forever if you'll be my wife." His cheeks flushed a pinkish color.

Tenel Ka shook her head as Rom asked about her grandmother. "She is not really that bad, I suppose," she said. "I believe that she just never was able to get over having to give the throne to an underclassed woman like my mother. She has the habit of trying to continue her rule through manipulating, at first her and now me. It just gets tiresome. She also feels that I must marry a true Ismalian man. She did not approve of our involvement in the war in Alagaesia." As she reached for his bindings, Romulus lifted his hand almost out of her reach. "Hey!" she said, laughing. "Fine, if that is how you wish to play." She lowered the key and, smiling impishly, took ahold of his cloak and pulled him closer. She stared at him with alluring eyes, listening as he explained how he had wanted to propose. "Well, then," she told him. "I think I will give you one more chance for what you have planned." She considered the time for a moment. "You have around...five hours to put together something so breath-takingly romantic that you just sweep me off my feet." She kissed him for a moment while she waited for him to lower his hands so she could unshackle them.

Romulus chuckled as Tenel Ka pulled him close, reminding him that he was still without a tunic. "Mmm, we're lucky that you're Father didn't ask about my shirt..." He settled himself closer to Tenel Ka as gave him his ultimatum. "That's not fair..." His voice grew husky as she drew her lips to his, "you already know its coming...but agreed...you know I never did like backing down from a chall--" His voice left him as he settled his lips against hers. He was so distracted in this act that he lowered his guard and completely relaxed as he tugged her dress with a finger, desiring for them to become closer. "I really should let you go do your duty..." He muttered to her as he tilted his head sideways, tracing kisses down her neck. "...and then I can go kick out those unneeded men lingering in the palace..."
*** OOC: Time for some Tristan and Teodora fun, eh? What'da say? Shall we bring them in? I'll let Trinn know?

Tenel Ka forced herself not to get distracted, however easy it was while she kissed Rom. The instant he lowered his hands, she unlocked the shackles around his wrists, letting them drop to the ground. She couldn't stop herself from tracing his jaw with her lips, pausing at his ear. "You better get to it, then," she told him a bit teasingly. "The clock is ticking, my love, especially if you are going to hunt down my suitors as well." OOC: Sure! They have been suspisciously absent from this thread. Honeymoon, perhaps?

OOC: Hmm, honeymoon....does that mean they married in the Varden or just right when they returned to Ismalia? Or are we going to have a double wedding? lol. Don't wanna upstage the Queen...LOL I'll have to ask Trinn what she thinks. But in the meantime.
Tristan breathed in the air of Ismalia. "AHHHH! HOME!" He exclaimed as he hopped off of Trinity. "I missed the solid crystal floor!" He tapped the ground the courtyard with his foot. You are ridiculous. I much prefer Alagaesia...it's less confining...I barely could fit here... Trinity whined as her talons echoed against the floor. "Ooo and I miss the food! I can't wait to try Emeraldloaf! The delicious meat patty covered in bread!!!" He smiled, clearly ignoring Trinity's whines.
*** "That's cheating." Romulus whispered, referring to her sly removal of shackles, as the shackles fell to the floor. He continued to linger on that spot on her neck until he made an irritable moan at the mention of the suitors again. "You can't help it, can you?" He stared at her coyly, "you are irresistable." He smiled and gave her a peck on the lips. "Hmm, well, I suppose I can bear parting from you a bit." He took her hand in his. "I'll stop by your chambers in 5 hours...and in the meantime, I think I'll go kick out those men." He smiled deviously. "You don't think the guards will shackle me again, do you?" He asked her, a thoughtful expression on his face.

Gingerly, Teodora maneuvered her way off of Trinity's back and onto the crystal ground. She sighed in relief when her feet finally hit the solid floor. Dragon flight was something she should have been used to by now. After all, she had traveled from Ismalia to Alagaesia on dragon back, and now from Alagaesia to Ismalia the same way. But still she always felt uneasy up in the sky, and by the time the dragon landed, she always felt a bit shaky from nerves. She went to Tristan's side now and hooked her arm around his in silent companionship. "I've missed this city more than I realized." she said to him, taking in her hometown with hungry eyes.

The moment Teodora got off her back, Trinity shook herself, happy to stretch. Blah. This place is too shiny for its own good. I'm going to find Caedus. Maybe he can teach me the best hunting spots. Trinity declared before shooting up into the sky.
Tristan stared at her with some annoyance. "She's rather independent." He commented to Teodora, enjoying her closeness as she wrapped her arm around his. "She really has been talking to you too much." He joked to her, giving her a teasing grin. "Come on, let's go see Tenel Ka!" He playfully tugged her along, excited to see Tenel Ka. "And then we can go see your Mother and tell her the good news!" He kissed her on her cheek as he took the hand around his into his palm, so they were now holding hands. "I'll race you!" He challenged her, but wouldn't let go of her hand as he began to speed up his walk into a run.

Teodora smacked Tristan's arm with her free hand at his playful gibe. She knew he meant nothing by it, other than to tease. The thought of her mother thrilled Teodora. It had been too long, and Teodora had wrote maybe a couple letters. Her poor mother probably thought she was dead. Now eager and anxious, Teodora matched Tristan's running pace. Racing down the shimmering streets reminded her of another night, now long ago, when she and Tristan had sneaked through the city together. She grinned, remembering then she had still thought of him as a stupid, woolheaded, thrice blasted man. Well, he still was, sometimes. It was weird to think of how much she had changed since leaving Ismalia. Now, being back in the capitol, it was easy to remember the naive woman she once had been.
They raced on, and soon the glittering, magnificent palace came into sight.

Tristan laughed as they ran together. Filled with mirth then he had been in a long time, Tristan was actually glad to return to the palace. Memories of how he used to play with Tenel Ka ran through his mind as they passed through the palace. Guards stared at them, at first, unsure of who he was, but lucky for them, they recognized them quickly. Tristan waved at some of the guards, who waved back with some laughs at the couple's antics. Tristan smiled, feeling as he had never been so happy before - he was now able to return home, his cousin had forgiven him, and now, finally, he had Teodora by his side. He gave her another grin as they skidded to a stop in front of the palace doors, still laughing and a bit out of breath.
"Prince Tristan, Lady Teodora. Welcome back." Dastan smirked, as he greeted them. "The Queen Mother is going to be excited when she see's you, and I think, Romulus as well." A playful grin danced on his lips. "I bet there is a lot to catch up between you two." He opened the doors and gestured for them to enter. "I think I spotted them in the courtyard to the south, near the jailhouse."
"Dastan! I'm glad to see you're doing well." Tristan greeted. A slight frown was on his face. "Romulus is here as well? I didn't know he was coming." His frown turned into a smile again. "Well, that would be good. At least they won't be pining after one another anymore." Tristan recalled how sad both had been when Tenel Ka left for Ismalia. Romulus still hadn't told Tenel Ka that he liked her, but hopefully, that man would grow a spine as he visits her. "Thanks, Dastan! We'll go and find her." He gestured Teodora to follow him, heading toward the indicated courtyard. "I wonder why they're over there." He asked Teodora, walking beside her, knowing it wouldn't be proper if they were running in the castle's halls.

Seeing Dastan, Teodora nodded politely to him. She respected him more than most men. He had taken her and Tristan's place as Tenal Ka's personal guard, and he was doing an exceptional job thus far. And that was by himself. She was a bit taken aback to be called Lady, though. That was a title she was unfamiliar with. "Thank you." she said to Dastan as they started towards the prison.
"Why indeed." she agreed with Tristan. "I hope there hasn't been too much trouble in our absence. And shouldn't Dastan be with the Queen Mother instead of lounging outside the palace?" she wondered aloud, glancing back over her shoulder with narrowed eyes at Dastan. "Ah, well, no matter. We'll be with her soon enough." Teodora didn't know the palace grounds very well, so she stuck close to Tristan as they made their way through the halls, each corridor as beautiful as the next. Soon enough they were in the area that Dastan had indicated. The courtyard was empty of Tenal Ka, and Teodora frowned.

OOC: How to make this awkward...I know! LOL
"You worry more about her than I do, Teodora. I'm sure she can handle herself." He assured Teodora about Tenel Ka. He too, glanced back at Dastan though, wondering why he wasn't near his cousin, not knowing that he had just finished arresting Tamara for plotting against his cousin.
They wandered into the courtyard then, seeing no one. He shuffled his brows together. "Hmm, maybe she went to the throne room." Tristan looked at Teodora with a questioning brow when suddenly he heard a clang off to the side. "Hmm?" He looked at Teodora with a confused expression and went to investigate.
To his horror, Tristan found Romulus necking his baby cousin! He froze in his spot, as anger poured into him, his eyes never leaving the lovers as they stopped and were now talking, having not noticed them yet. Tristan seethed more at Romulus. No one touched his little cousin that way! No one! Tristan's protective and instinctive side kicked. He let go of Teodora's hand. The young prince charged.
Romulus felt a prickle of danger as he talked with Tenel Ka. Not a moment too soon, he turned to find Tristan tackling him to the floor. "Why you ingrate! I trusted you to keep her safe and this is what you plan to do with her!!" Tristan yelled out, throwing punches at Rom's face. Rom blocked Tristan's attacks, as he tried to explain. "Tristan! Calm down!" "Trying to take advantage of her, are you! I won't tolerate it!!!" He grunted out and the two began to wrestle on the floor.
OOC: hehe
