Character's name: Seiko
Character's age: 20
Character's attitude: Seiko has a very free spirit. She is not shy at all, known to speak her mind to a fault, as well as do or say things that are generally embarrassing and not culturally acceptable. She does have a caring heart, though, and has a very motherly quality about her; she knows how to tend to people instinctively. She is very quick to forgive wrongs done to her and never holds a grudge.
Character's Race: Ismalian
Character's appearance:
Seiko has long reddish-blonde hair and hazel eyes. She is 5'7" and wears plated armor with a crimson cloak often. On occasion, she will wear more commonplace clothes...and on incredibly special occasions, she will wear no clothes at all.
Character's allegiance: Neutral
Weapons:
Seiko wields a straight steel shortsword and a rough hewn but effective bow.
Seiko also has the ability to use magic; strangely, she seems to have no trouble overcoming the flaws her Ismalian blood causes, her spells almost always working perfectly. Also, when a spell is cast at her, she has some small measure of control over how it affects her.
Other Info: Seiko is in desperate search of her family, and has been for the past two years. She seems to have selective memory loss, unable to recall certain past events particularly relating to how she ended up in Alagaesia.
History:
Seiko was born in Sundavar, Ismalia, about the time Queen Mother Tenel Ka came to the throne. She was the first of four children in her family. Soon after the birth of her youngest sibling, an unexpected tragedy claimed her mother's life. Because her father was working to support them, Seiko essentially became the head of the household, taking up the responsiblities her mother left void. However, she did not let the added responsibility force her to grow up too quickly, as she still put every effort into having fun with friends in town, playing with her siblings, and generally letting nothing get to her spirit.
Seiko came from the part of Ismalia where the Moon Festival was celebrated whole-heartedly by the entire community. Every year, Seiko and all her friends and family would gather together and celebrate in the traditional way. This practice has been ingrained into her so thoroughly that she will never miss it, no matter where she is.
At a fairly early age, Seiko discovered her ability to use magic. It was odd, as no one in her family ever seemed to have possessed such an ability before. As with all Ismalian, the ability was flawed, broken. The spells she cast were ineffective or twisted. However, with practice and searching--and eventually guidance--she was able to overcome these, discovering the root of the "problem" with Ismalians. It is generally a very well guarded secret, and she won't share with just anyone.
When she was eighteen, something happened to Seiko. She has trouble recalling exactly what. Were she asked, she would saw a whirlwind came in the middle of the night and carried her away, or that some creature dragged her off. Whatever happened, she cannot recall three days of her life at all, and when she was next aware, she found herself in Surda. Having never travelled farther than twenty miles from home before, Seiko is unable to figure out which direction will lead her home. She's spent the last two years wandering Alagaesia, not knowing how to get home and no one able to give her directions that she can understand.
Role Play Sample:
North, south, east, west... Seiko thought, shaking her head irritably as she tossed the map aside in frustration. None of it makes sense to me. It's one thing to draw it on a piece of paper, but that means nothing to me in real life. She gazed up at the starry sky, the thin moon staring back down at her. In spite of her frustration, she smiled. In another month, the Moon Festival would be upon her. Though Alagaesia was a strange land with different customs, she found comfort in being able to cling to that little piece of home. Maybe she could convince someone to celebrate with her this year.
Feeling better, she turned on her side. "Brisingr," she said, causing the wood she'd gathered earlier to come to life in a blaze. For an instant, it almost blew out of control, and would have destroyed everything around her. But then she grasped it quickly. Control, her mentor's words sounded in her mind again. That is what Ismalians possess over magic. Every one of us can manipulate the energy that surrounds us at will. It is a blessing that was given to us centuries ago. Sadly, many of us are unaware, and our control over the energy goes unchecked, causing it to backfire on us. Make sure you never lose your control, Seiko. With it, you can do anything.
"Maybe I can find my way to Ilirea tomorrow," she said aloud to herself, stretching. "If I can just make heads or tails of these directions and not get sidetracked for once. Then I might be able to find someone to take me home."
