Character's name: Lady Eliza of Belatona
Character's age: 30
Character's attitude: Eliza is very calm and collected, polite and proper a gracious hostess and gentle sovereign. However, when the need arises, she can be a fierce fighter and protects those she loves. She is more acquainted to the game of politics than either of her brothers and knows how to pull strings to get things how she wants them. She is loyal most to her family, trusting and following her brothers wherever they wish to lead. If a conflict arises, she is more likely to side with Elias.
Character's Race: human
Character's appearance:
Character's allegiance: Her brother Elias, in turn Queen Nasuada, in turn the Dragon Riders.
Weapons: Eliza has a few small daggers for personal protection, but her more deadly weapon is her intelligence, and her ability to manuver through politics as if it were a dance floor.
Other Info: Eliza is personally terrified of dragons, any size or color or ferocity. Even if she happens to learn their personality and nature, she can't look at them without having a nervous breakdown.
History: Eliza was born the twin of Elias to one of the lower lords of Belatona, also having an older brother. Though she was always very close with her twin and tried to spend as much time as she could with him, they were often kept separate by the nature of men and women's learning. Eliza was taken by her mother to learn the arts of politics and manipulation. Where her brothers learned to fight, she was taught to trick, seduce, or twist to her advantage.
From a young age, she saw the problems that existed in Galbatorix's rule, but foresaw other problems that may arise should the Varden overthrow him. A new rule could very well through the entire political system into chaos, and for this, she hesitated to support them, however corrupt she knew the king to be.
At the age of fifteen, her family travelled to the castle of Belatona, and while they were there, the city was laid siege. Eliza hated to see her father leave, forced to fight to keep the city. She knew in her heart that it would likely be the last time she ever saw him. She was soon given the chance to escape with her brothers and leave the city. During the escape, for a brief few moments she was separated from them and during that time found herself face-to-face with a huge, snarling, bloody dragon. She was terrified, though the dragon didn't harm her, and when her brothers found her again, she was in a near-catatonic state. It took her nearly a week to fully recover, and during that time, the city fell to the Varden advance.
The months that followed were rather stressed for her and her brothers, filled with many arguments and accusations, suggestions and rebukes, but would always lead back to them relying upon one another. It was a relief to be discovered by the Varden and brought before Queen Nasuada. Seeing her position, Eliza took the lead in discussing with the queen what should be done with them, using her political prowess to come to an understanding, even managing to retain their titles and their lands. In return, she and her brothers swore loyalty to Nasuada.
Eliza was pleased to see that despite the overturn of the ruler, many of the same nobles remained in their seats of power, and these people she knew how to manipulate. She is now one of the most powerful people in Belatona. But in whatever she does, Eliza only seeks to impove the standings of her brothers and herself, trying to be a better person than so many of the corrupt nobles she sees every day.
Role Play Sample:
Eliza held her twin's hand tightly as he reached for her, watching through vacant eyes as their home was overrun. Her ears still rang with that dreadful roar, and whenever she closed her eyes she could see those wild, beastly eyes and bloody teeth and talons. She was so terrified still that she could hardly even speak.
"Father is gone," she said in a soft voice. It was a statement of the obvious. She very much doubted he survived, especially against such beasts as the one she'd seen. Had her mind not been so fragile, she would have curled against Elias and wept for their lost home, and possibly their lost family, but she could do nothing but sit and stare, shivering in terror.
