So, I saw this video and was like...INSPIRATION! Also, I'm looking forward to this series. :3

Weapons: The scythe-gun in the video, though more like a scythe-crossbow. She designed it herself and it is a wonder of mechanical engineering. The only enchantment upon it is reinforcement to keep the metal from burning out through friction.

History:
Ruby was born to a human mother and an elf father in Silthrim. At a young age, she showed a keen interest in learning how to fight, to which her father obliged, training her how to sword fight. However, when she was ten, she discovered how to fight with a large scythe, able to handle the large weapon with incomprable speed and agility due to her elven blood.
When she was twelve, her mother was killed by a Shade. Her father was away at the time, and Ruby did her best to protect her. Sadly, she was unable to get to the Shade before her mother was dead. Ruby tried to kill it afterward, but the scythe was not designed for piercing hearts. She only succeeded in cutting off its head and sending it away.
When her father returned and learned what happened, he was angered and vow to avenge his fallen mate. However, unrest was already being sensed by the elven government, and as he was a lord under Queen Arya, he was unable to pursue the threat. Instead, he helped is daughter in building and designing a new weapon, one that was able to fire projectiles as well as suit her preference to a scythe. After it was finished, Ruby trained with the weapon for six months, getting used to the idea of being able to use range as well as close attacks.
Once that was finished, she went on a hunt for the Shade that murdered her mother. It took her most of the year to track it down, but when she did, she was ready. She battled the evil creature for two days straight, neither one able to gain the upper hand of the fight. Finally, the Shade dodged a swing Ruby made and reached to grab her throat. However, he failed to notice that she'd retracted the scythe, and that she had an arrow pointed straight for his heart. Confidant he had won, he leered in her face for a moment, savoring his well-earned victory. That's when he noticed she had a matching smirk just before she fired her weapon.
Having avenged her mother's death and ridding the land of one evil, Ruby has decided to serve Queen Nasuada in her fight against the Shade Rider.

Ruby stood just before her mother's grave, her breath hitched as she remained, almost frozen in time. She could still remember the attack, unexpected. How the Shade had made it through the forest's boarders, no one was able to tell. And why had it targeted her mother?
Really, she didn't care to know the answers to these questions. It was a monster, and it had taken someone precious from her. All she wanted was the thing to be dead, never terrorize anyone again.
"Goodbye, Mother," Ruby said, touching her compacted scythe before turning away to hunt down the creature.
