Character's name: Pandora
Character's age: 362
Character's attitude: Pandora is incredibly determined and stubborn. The eloquence of her speech does not mask the roughness of her character. She wishes to do everything she can to undo all the curses and misery her mother has ever brought upon the world, yet she knows in most cases that it is a hopeless cause. She fears she may eventually become Allecia, or something even worse.
Character's Race: Unknown. She may be a human/elf hybrid, or something else entirely. Similar to Allecia.
Character's appearance: Pandora is a tall woman, appearing in her mid-twenties. Her eyes are bright violet and her hair is pale red. She wears a black dress and boots with a tight black necklace. Her most remarkable features are her draconic ones: she has a pair of reddish black dragon wings extending from her back, a small pair of horns, and a small dragon's tail. She does not remember a time that she did not have these features, and for all purposes, it seems she was born with them. When she is trying not to draw attention to herself, she will wrap her wings closely around her body and wear a hooded cloak over them.
(I've sketched a picture of her. I might upload it at some point.)
Character's allegiance: Neutral
Weapons: A small ebony dagger, a long steel katana (similar to her mother's), and a long hickory staff mounted with a large, flawless black diamond. The staff helps her contain and focus her magic, as without it, she is far more powerful than she can control.
Other Info: Pandora nearly always carries with her a small gold box that she is determined to keep closed forever, knowing that if someone opens it, misfortune will haunt their life forevermore.
History: Pandora was born to the woman known as Allecia--or the Fiend to some--several centuries ago. Whether her true lover, the Butcher Cleon, was the father, or someone else, Pandora has never known. She spent the first few decades of her life devotedly clinging to her mother's side as much as she could, observing her and idolizing her. She always watched how Allecia would manipulate others to do what she wanted when they would never even realize it. They were like puppets to her, and Pandora was amazed by it. But her adoration was tainted as she saw the uproar that followed. The wars, the death, the hatred that always came as a response. The effects terrified her, and even more horrifying was the smile that it brought to her face.
Pandora's devotion was completely shattered on the day she realized that she, too, had been endlessly manipulated by her mother. Years ago, Allecia had given her a little gold box set with shiny gemstones. She had been told to never open it, but to let someone else do so if they wanted. Shortly after, a friend had become interested in it, and asked if she could open it. She did so, but there was nothing inside it. Disappointed, this friend became sad and shortly afterward was noticeably depressed. Pandora watched as this friend suffered through her sorrows, and was beset periodically by the most outrageously bad luck. It was when her friend was found drowned in a river that Pandora understood. It was the box that caused everything. Allecia had used her to bring about this misfortune to others, and in doing so had manipulated her. Love had always been feigned, and there was nothing real about their relationship. On that day, she coldly left her home, determined to live her own life and not be twisted into doing what someone else wanted. She took her box with her to safeguard it, so that no one else would experience the desolation of it.
With several wars erupting in rapid succession, Pandora has realized that she can no longer sit idly by. She knows that much of this is her mother's doing, with out quickly she grows bored. With this in mind, she has started doing everything she can to stop and reverse everything Allecia has caused, but with much difficulty. Allecia appears so innocent and trustworthy, and is a master of manipulation. Pandora can hardly show her face to someone without them backing away in fear, revulsion, and distrust.
Role Play Sample:
"Where is it?" Pandora muttered to herself, rifling through a chest of drawers. Deep in her heart, she was beginning to feel panic. The box was nowhere to be found. She started pulling things out of the drawers and throwing them on the floor, crawling under the bed, climbing into cabinets, wings flared and tail whipping about in a frenzy. Nothing. Not even a gleam.
She sank to the floor as she tried to suppress her oncoming hysteria, forcing her rational mind to discover what had happened to it. She had most definitely seen it this morning; it had been sitting on top of the dresser. She'd heard a bird singing out her window and decided to go look at it; it had an unusual call. But when she'd gone out, she found nothing unusual. That was the only time all day she'd been out of the house.
She took a deep breath and her eyes narrowed. There was only one person in the whole world who would know the value of that box. Only one person who could trick her into stepping outside without ever revealing her presence. Only one person who would want that box for any discernible reason.
"Mother," Pandora growled to herself angrily. She stood and armed herself before heading out the door. She had to find Allecia. Find her and stop her before she rained disaster upon some unsuspecting person.

"The Ismalian Queen?!" Pandora slammed her palms on the table in front of Allecia, making the ornate box bounce from the vibration. "You tricked the Ismalian Queen into opening the bloody box?!"
"It was the only feasible way of giving her memories back," Allecia replied coolly, her gaze never faltering from her daughter.
"The memories that I am sure you stole from her," Pandora barked back. "And for what? Wrecking the woman's life? She killed her dragon and the man she loved, and now she remembers it all!"
"As usual, Pandora, you do not see the whole picture," Allecia replied calmly, her fingers caressing the box. "So disappointing. I would have hoped you would be able to see at least a little of it by now, but you remain as narrow-minded as an elf. The whole scheme was never about Tenel Ka. It is about Ismalia and Alagaesia. It is to be a test for their newfound alliance. If Tenel Ka is the only thing keeping it together at the moment, then it would crumble away without her, and they would remain distant neighbors parted by a boundless forest."
"You're...you're anticipating her death?" Pandora reeled at the thought. If the queen were to die here in Alagaesia, outside of a battle, then Ismalia would likely withdraw their support, and the Varden would be hard-pressed to survive their war against Galbatorix."
"Of course. She cannot live with the guilt of having slain the two people who knew and loved her the most. She will end her life very shortly."
Pandora held her breath for several long moments, staring down at the horrid box before her. Then she managed a small smile. "You underestimate her, Mother," she stated. "The Ismalian Queen is far more clever than you give her credit. And she has an ace up her sleeve that you seem to have forgotten." She took the box in her hand and made her way to the door without given Allecia a second glance.
Still, she thought and she set out for her home, Even if she does use the Emeralds to repair the damage, that doesn't change the fact that she opened the box... She gazed down at it, wishing she understood it. Was it truly magical, or was it wrought with some sort of ill fate? Was it possible the Ismalians could be resistant to its effects? Or would the misfortune be even worse?
Only time would tell...
