Character's name: Kili Skybound
Character's age: 64
Character's attitude: Kili is outspoken and jovial. He is well mannered, though his table manners could use some work. Generally he gets along with most people, although he has little or nothing to say to those who have crossed him in any way. Oft Kili feels that he is torn between worlds; Does he belong with his fellow Dwarves, or the Dragon Riders? There are still some dwarves who think he is an abomination. There are only a few other dwarven dragon riders besides himself. He has been pondering creating his own dragon rider dwarf clan, as he does not truly fit into the other clans, especially his previous clan, Dûrgrimst Az Sweldn rak Anhûin.
Character's Race: Knurla (Dwarf)
Character's appearance: Kili has a thick head of long black hair that falls just past his shoulders. He usually keeps it tied back with a leather strap. He wears a well kept short beard. Before bonding to a dragon he had worn a long braided beard, but it had proven an annoyance whilst flying, and so he stuffed down his pride and trimmed the beard. Kili is tall for a dwarf, about 4'9". This is in part due to being bonded. He had grown just a small amount, and now stands taller than most dwarves, though still shorter than most men. He is well muscled, and considered attractive even among humans and elves.
Character's allegiance: Dragon Riders.
Weapons: His primary weapon is his great battle axe. Beyond that, he has a set of Ascûdgamln in the knuckles of his left hand.
Other Info: Kili's parents died during the Varden war against Galbatorix. Has no other direct kin.
History: Kili was born into the Dûrgrimst Az Sweldn rak Anhûin clan. For a very long time he was taught to loathe dragons and their riders, until Eragon showed up. Though his clan hoped that Eragon would fail, and some even hoped he and his dragon would die, Kili thought differently. Eragon had always seemed polite and well spoken, never offending on purpose. Kili thought that was enough to spare the lad and his dragon. Unfortunately their clan leader thought differently. Kili stayed out of it, and was relieved to hear that Orik had discovered the foul plans of the clan leader. After that, once the new Grimstborith was in place, the clan became more peaceful, though they still looked sideways at dragon riders. A year after the fall of Galbatorix, an elf traveled to the beor mountains and visited each of the clans. The she elf carried with her a dragon egg that was a beautiful shimmering gold. Among Dûrgrimst Az Sweldn rak Anhûin the elf received polite welcome, though it was apparent that some of the dwarves wished her gone. Being a young dwarf, Kili was given the chance to touch the egg. The night was a stormy one, and the she elf was staying with Kili at his dwelling during her stay with the clan. It was on that night that Kili's fate changed. They sat in front of Kili's hearth, and the elf spoke graciously to him despite some of the rude looks she had been given from his clan. She tenderly placed the egg into his hands, and Kili was astounded by the warmth that filled his palms. He stared at the golden egg, amazed by the pureness of its color, its warmth, and the life he felt pouring from within it. Looking up at the elf, he couldn't help but smile. Even the small honor of holding the egg gave him joy. She smiled back, and that was when the egg trembled and cracked. Moments later, Kili had bonded with the small golden hatchling. The next day Kili left with the elf girl to train with the dragon riders. His clan whispered and muttered in his wake, and looked at him in ways he had never been privy to before. He felt like an outcast and a leper. But all of that didn't seem to matter with a dragon in his hands.
For fifteen years after that, Kili trained with the elders in New Doru Arabea. The other apprentice riders looked at him strangely too, but eventually they accepted him and for a while Kili was happy. It was when his training was complete that he didn't know what to do. He traveled back with his bond to the Beor Mountains. His clan shouted at him to take his great beast out of their land because it would damage too much. Saddened, Kili obliged and found more welcome with the Quan clan. He now spends his time flying around the Beors, protecting his people from any and all danger.
Role Play Sample: The large golden dragon flapped towards a stone outcropping, circled the precipice, and landed on the tip. He balanced there, his talons gripping into the stone and wings spread wide. A little lump sat on the dragons back, glaring out at the mountains. Well. I don't know what I was expecting, but I suppose that wasn't quite it. Kili said to his bond.
I was. Said Joro, huffing. From the memories you've shared with me of your clan, they seem just the type to shun us. It was true, Kili had to admit. His clan was not the friendliest, even sixteen years later. "Where should we go then!?" Kili shouted aloud, feeling frustrated. Joro tilted his head as he scanned the mountains, taking in the great size of them.
We will stay here! The other clans will not be so unfriendly. What about your priests of Durgrimst Quan? Certainly they will not shun us. Kili thought a moment, then nodded. "You're right, as usual, Jor. But first, we should go pay a visit to our great king and let him know that we have returned to help serve and protect the people here". Trumpeting excitedly at the prospect of meeting the dwarf king, Joro crouched and then leapt into the air. Pebbles and stones fell from the precipice he had been perched atop, the tip crumbling from the pressure of Joro's weight. Orik would be glad to see them, at least. He had, after all, been Eragon's great friend. Feeling somewhat more settled, Kili shifted his weight on Joro's back and let his great winged friend take him to Trojhiem.
