As Erik was escorted through the academy doors by two senior riders. With his golden dragon Samaranth on his shoulder, he nervously wondered what his new life would be like. He had brought no possessions of his own. A group of people approached him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Msg me if you want to join in the fun we will be trainees at the academy and we will have some kickass adventures. who knows, maybe my publisher will let me make this a book...

It is a morning much like many others here and today Gidion is scheduled to teach a class of recruits. "I can't believe we are still teaching recruits" Gidion said to basil in a less then happy tone. "We have been doing this for to long we are an experienced team me and you. for gods sake we fought along side Eragon and the other elders during the battles with Galbatorix. the least they could do is give us a real assignment where we can actually help the cause." "Yes little one I feel the same way at times but if we didn't stay here and help teach the recruits who would? now I know it's not the most glorious job we could have but it is a very vital one for the order and you should be proud to help in any way you can" said Basil "Yes I know but I can't help but think what else we could be doing with our time" Gidion said as they walk through the front doors and in to the training center. "today is just fundamentals so I'll call you if I need your help" said Gidion. "As you wish I will be hunting up past the mountains" Said Basil as he leapt into the sky." "lets see what I have to work with he says as he walks through the door."
****** thanks for the opportunity and that would be awesome ill ask if anyone else would like to join

I will wait out here, call me if you need me, Essovius told his rider with a snort, curling up outside the main hall and eyeing Logan as he entered the building. I'm sure you will be needed, Esso, Logan replied, pushing the doors open. He was annoyed at himself that he had not trained well enough to pass his exams and now had to go through the whole process again. Logan may not need to repeat everything, but still it was rather inconvenient. Logan should be out there with the other riders defending Alegasia, but no, he was here training. Stop complaining. At least now we will be even more prepared. Of course, Essovius made a solid point, but still Logan chose to ignore it. He hated himself for not being as good at magic as the other riders were. Maybe he was just a slow learner? Or maybe he was incompetent. Logan wouldn't know until he dived back into his training once again.
With a deep sigh, Logan walked up to the men mingling in the centre of the room. One of them, a boy of about 15, had a bright golden dragon sitting on his shoulder. This sight put a slight smile to Logan's lips as he remembered when Esso had been that small. "Logan, reporting for duty, sir," Logan said, almost sarcastically, but not quite.

(OOC- I don't know if this is still going, but I'll hop in if that's alright)
Lucian's boots clicked lightly as he made his way to the classroom. He had returned from a mission with his bondmate, Alorah, the day before. Despite his prowess in battle, Lucian was a scholar at heart. There was a reason he and Alorah had been chosen for their exploratory mission before the Fall of the Riders. There was also a reason they were so often asked to remain at the Academy rather than enter into combat. Still, Lucian's wisdom and experience was just as valuable on the battlefield as it was in the classroom, and so he found himself playing dual roles quite often. In the corner of his mind, he felt Alorah off hunting, replenishing energy from the previous day. He and his bondmate had been together so long that their thoughts constantly touched, giving them a continuity of being between them that was only seen in the older Riders. He smiled slightly, unable to help himself. Here, at New Doru Araeba, with his bondmate and his students, he felt more at home than he had since he left the original Doru Araeba. The ancient Rider swept into the room a moment later. His long silver hair was loose as he made his way purposefully to the center, where the students had gathered. While he would leave the majority of the instruction to Gideon, he would be there to observe and, if need be, assist. He smiled warmly at the students, the diamond studs in his ears glinting through his hair. The Elf spread his arms welcomingly. "Greetings," he said in the common tongue, knowing that their new Rider would not be familiar with the Ancient Language, "And welcome."

As Erik was ushered through a doorway into a room full of young men and women his age or older, he was approached by a boy, who looked to be about 17 years old. With a slight smile visible on his face the boy sarcastically said "Logan, reporting for duty, sir." With a surprised look on his face, Erik turned toward the boy and said, " I'm afraid you must have me mistaken for someone else, I only just arrived here." Just then a man with long hair and pointed ears like his mothers, but far more pronounced than Erik's own, walked into the room and welcomed him. There was silence for about a minute before a boy next to him nudged him with his elbow and said, "Tell him your name." Doing so, Erik stood up and said "My name is Erik Starfinder." "Don't forget me!" said Samaranth. "And this is Samaranth."

OOC- I don't mean to sound pedantic but, the connection with his dragon and the dragon's ability to fly at such a young age would need to be approved by the moderators. I didn't see anything about those topics in Erik's application, either, and they would need to be added so that they're readily available. The only reason I point it out is because, the reason Eragon struggled wasn't for lack of a strong bond, but because a week old dragon is not cognitively developed enough to truly communicate. Just like any other creature, they have to mature both mentally and physically before higher functions like communication, and later flight, could be achieved. Again, not trying to be pushy or rude, but, in order for RPing to flow smoothly, character "extras" must be approved and on the application.

Lucian listened with rapt attention as each of the students introduced themselves. He nodded with each name, murmuring a greeting in the Ancient Language. His eyes scanned over them as he sensed out their potential with light, intangible touches of his mind. Alorah kept up on his thoughts as she brought down a large buck on the hunting grounds, doing so carefully so as not to ruin the carcass. When the students had finished, he gave them all a wide smile. "A pleasure to meet you all. I am known as Lucian, du vrangr chetowä. You may call me Lucian-elda, as is proper for when a student addresses a teacher. My bondmate is Alorah Bjartskular," his smile turned almost mischievous, "Though, she is far too large to fit indoors with those of us who have two legs." Alorah made an amused sound that caused Lucian's smile to widen again. Nor would I want to. You two legged creatures and your cramped spaces never cease to baffle me. Lucian held back a chuckle. Come now, my dear one. We do not have your scales to protect us from the elements Alorah descended on another prey, the tenor of her thoughts turning smug. Which is why you puny Riders must have us to protect you. she purred. Lucian did chuckle softly this time as his light eyes swept over the students. Indeed, my friend, indeed. "Welcome to New Doru Araeba, our academy for Dragon Riders. Have you any inquiries before you are given your tour?" he said aloud.

Trailing slightly behind the group of young men and women, Erik looked around himself in awe at the place that he now walked in. While Erik was lost in thought, Samaranth snaked his head into the hood of Erik's cloak and nipped at his ears. As he rubbed his ears, Erik was reminded of something that his mother had told him when he was young. "Always keep your hood on. Never let anyone see your ears." He had never asked why this was necessary, as his mother's face had been that of someone who would not tolerate disobedience. Lost in his thoughts, he slowly got further and further away from the group without noticing, until suddenly, he noticed that the chatter of the other young men and women was no longer present.

OOC- Since it seems like we're the only two playing, I'll bring in a different character.
Varda glided down the hall, boots silent against the stone floor. The front of her dark hair was bound up in a pair of braids that ran along the sides of her head before meeting in the back. The rest flowed down her back in a long curtain, her pointed ears standing out in front of it. Dark eyes were set into a pale, melancholy face. She moved at a quick but natural pace, making her way towards Lucian's office. She had just returned from the battlefield, made obvious by the small blood splatters that still stained her white, elvish tunic and pale skin. She rounded a corner and stopped as her sharp eyes caught sight of an unfamiliar person. It appeared to be a young boy. A small dragon perched up on his shoulder. She remained silent and still for a moment, considering him. Is he lost? Blizzard questioned in the back of her mind. Varda's eyes flickered towards the hall window, through which she could see the flash of her dragon's white scales a short distance away. He raised his head from where he sat, conversing with another dragon, and blinked one large, blue eye at her. I do not know. I shall inquire. She took one more step forward. "Boy," her soft voice carried as though she had spoken much louder. She waited for him to acknowledge her.

Looking around in confusion, Erik tried to figure out his location. Suddenly, from somewhere behind him, a voice that was both soft and loud at the same time said, "Boy". Startled Erik gave a start and jumped up into the air. Giving a small "hmph" Samaranth readjusted his wings, inadvertently knocking Erik's hood off of his head and exposing his slightly pointed ears. Looking for the source of the voice Erik saw a woman with pointed ears like the man who was giving the tour. Carefully covering his ears back up with the hood. "I'm sorry for disturbing you." Erik said, "But I'm afraid I am lost. I was following Lucian-elda but I think I lagged behind because I wasn't paying attention."
