Character's name: Evelyn
Character's age: 218
Character's Gender: Female
Character's attitude/Personality:
Evelyn is usually rather friendly for an elf, preferring to ignore formalities that most elves use. This helps her get along with humans better. She sees those of other races as having a more casual demeanor than elves. Evelyn may be old, but sometimes she has trouble making decisions. When there is a not a clear, logical best option, she ruminates on the issue for too long. There is always a lot of internal dialogue going on inside her head. She especially likes to talk with Lyra.
Evelyn is kind, and is commonly seen as having a good moral compass. She holds her values strongly, though is not closed minded. Often enough, Evelyn has kept away from wars due to her feelings about how much good they could do.
Evelyn is more opposed to mental communication than most, except with her dragon. She worries about someone breaking in because she holds her memories very dear to her heart. Because of this, she writes about small things that interest her that she remembers from her day. She refrains from writing sensitive information in the book.
Character's Race: Elf
Character's appearance:
Evelyn has green-gray eyes and light brown hair with a bit of a red hue. Her height is just a bit above average. She has a slender build with long legs. Evelyn doesn't usually wear much besides plain tunics and pants, but always seems to have both of her swords with her. She has a quality set of armor that is often left in her room. Evelyn's hair is usually back in a bun when fighting, and down when she is not.
Character's allegiance: The Dragon Riders
Weapons: Evelyn is skilled with the sword, but only started using her rider's sword later in her life. Her old blade has sentimental value, so she still carries it with her. It is a quality blade, but very old and inferior to a rider's sword. If she needs to travel lighter, she reluctantly sets the old one aside. The rider's sword has a blade with the same color as her dragon and a clear gem in the pommel. She calls it "Wish" in the ancient language. The old sword looks very plain at first sight, but the metal is very nice. This sword is named "Endeavor," also in the ancient language.
Character's attitude/Personality:
Lyra is often a bit unsure of her intelligence and what she can do on her own. She likely became this way due to being so much younger than her rider. Evelyn has a lot of experience over Lyra in life. Some dragons treat Lyra as a young runt, while Evelyn gets respect for her age. Lyra doesn't always voice her opinions because of this, and so Evelyn is always trying to push her to. She doesn't believe her advice and ideas are very helpful to anyone, however. She doesn't like to waste people's time.
However, Lyra has no problem believing in her physical abilities. She enjoys flying and testing herself against other dragons. She may be unsure about her ideas, but she will test herself in mental fights with others for fun. Socializing with other dragons is a way for her to learn from them.
Lyra is more open to communicating with others using her mind than Evelyn is. She enjoys conversations and does not mind a friendly mental communication when appropriate.
History:
Early in her life, Evelyn fought alongside other elves in the kingdom when needed and gained experience. She earned respect, but did not graduate into a very high role. She preferred to not have all the responsibiliy on her shoulders. She earned a reputation for being a helpful fighter, and enthusiastic for a cause.
Evelyn slowly developed feelings against war and fighting through her career. For a long time she merely guiltily went through the motions and fought with others. Later, however, she didn't partake in numerous fights when she felt they weren't worth it. When the battle against Galbatorix started and the elves joined, she was hesitant to join in at first. Eventually, she saw it as justified and possible and threw herself into the effort with the others. She joined many other elves and supported warriors of different races. Elves were often useful for their skills with magic, so those skills improved.
The war got Evelyn's name noticed so that she was considered trustworthy by superiors. When a dragon egg from the Vault Of Souls was taken to the elves to be given to a potential rider, Evelyn was allowed to hold it. It did not take long for Lyra to hatch. Having no complications and nothing holding them back, Lyra and Evelyn left to join the riders and train. Because of her age and experience, Evelyn was able to skip many lessons in her training to focus on more advaced skills. Lyra, however, still needed support.
Role Play Sample:
It was still very early at the home of the riders when Lyra woke. She wanted to hunt right away, but decided to wake Evelyn. The elf had planned to get up early when it was quiet. Lyra lightly brushed her mind and waited for Evelyn to stir. Ah, thank you, Evelyn sent gratefully. It did not take her long to get herself ready and come outside. She checked the sky for the time while walking out. It was a training day for Evelyn. She needed to practice with her blade and mind, making sure both skills were in good shape. She practiced with her sword first. Evelyn had no partner, but that was how she wanted it for a while. Later, she would consider finding someone.
It was not long before another came out to practice. Lyra tilted her head and observed the human man before looking away. Someone is coming to ruin your private session, She joked.
Oh my. I must not make myself look like a fool. Evelyn let a smile escape. Still, she gave the human man a greeting nod before getting back to practice.
She had been about to leave, but Lyra noticed by the man's demeanor that he was uncomfortable. She stopped to look at him. It took her a moment to figure out why. The man was unskilled with his sword and couldn't quite get a movement right. Lyra recognized him as one of the newer riders that had joined a small group of others to train. She recalled that he was behind the others and had trouble catching up. It seemed like he worried that Evelyn was judging him harshly. Lyra thought for a moment.
Yes? Evelyn asked teasingly, as if Lyra had called her. It was merely a promt for her to officially ask the question rather than wonder about it.
Wouldn't it be a good idea for you to train with the man? He could use some help.
Yes, Lyra. I will invite him to spar. I can work alone later, I suppose. Now, go hunt, you're hungry. Lyra brightened that Evelyn had agreed with her idea. She took off to hunt. Evelyn approached the man. He was so focused on trying to do something correctly that he only noticed the elf when she was close. He looked up. It took him a moment of consideration, which was a very long pause, before he agreed to join her. Evelyn didn't come on strong with her criticism until later. She eventually did start giving him pointers and kept letting him work on something until he got it right. Eventually, the man became more confident and they got to a point where they could train and chat. Evelyn ended up spending the rest of her day practicing with different newbies.
I apologize that this RP sample was so boring and ended weird, I just wanted to see how these two worked together.
