Character race: Human
Character age: 20
Character attitude: Kind, but awfully stubborn and wilful. She's loyal, and ready to defend and help those in need, and while she tries her best to be kind to everyone, some don't deserve it, and if she's helping someone hurt by you, she won't rest until payback is dished out.
Character alignment: Dragon riders
Character appearance:
Erysa has light brown hair, almost red, and dark brown eyes. She stands at 5'10" and is of slim but strong build; built for speed and stamina.
Sword:
The metal of Erysa's sword is just that: metal. However, with the reflections of the blues and purples, the black blade appears more like crystal. Many don't know whether it is truly crystal or not, and neither Erysa or Areisa will say, both preferring to uphold the suspension of disbelief and allow people to have their own views on it. Both rider and dragon, however much they know its the special metal that all rider swords are made from, love to watch its swirling colours as it moves and imagine the blade slicing through undergrowth as they trek through new ground is transparent gemstone.
History: Erysa was born in Kuasta, and grew up with the sea. Her childhood was spent, mostly, by accompanying her father on fishing trips, weaving and crafting with her mother, and playing with the other children, who, upon inventing a game which involved chasing and catching, began to teach themselves how to climb trees, scale walls and leap from shingled roof to shingled roof. This left Erysa with a certain nimbleness and fondness for stunts.
In her teen years, she began leaving on fishing trips more often, and her other friends grew up without her. At the age of fifteen, she returned from one trip to find that they had all gone on a trip to Teirm for trade and wouldn't return for weeks. Only after they came back did they realise how much they'd missed Erysa. One year later, however, under order of the man who restored peace, a few dragon eggs were to be taken around Alagaësia, in search of new riders. Kuasta was one of the last towns. They found what they wanted there, though, as the polished black egg that colours seemed to swirl inside of hatched only a day later, eager to have a companion. Once she'd said goodbye to her parents, who waved her off proudly, and packed supplies and clothes, she was taken to Bromsland to train as a Rider. In the following months that her and her escorts' journey took, Areisa, her dragon, grew quickly, and by their arrival was already bigger than Erysa. Four years later and she's a fully-fledged dragon rider.
Character race: Dragon
Character age: 4
Character attitude: Stubborn, like her rider, but also quite vain. Her glimmering scales are an object of her pride, and occasionally Erysa has to fondly remind her to stay on task instead of admiring her long, lithe tail. She is very outgoing, and loves to have intellectual conversations, especially over riddles and the like, and once through her outer layer of sarcastic sass and pride she can be very nice and intelligent.
Character alignment: Dragon riders
Character appearance:
Areisa is a black dragon, but her scales are iridescent in the light and shine blue and purple, the same colours as her eyes. She has two black horns on the top of her head and small spines along her back, neck and tail. On the end of her tail is a black spade.
History: When she chose Erysa as her rider, she took many a week to choose a name for herself, opting to spend her time as a small hatchling by curling up on the saddle as Erysa rode east with her escorts along the outskirts of the Beor Mountains. When she did choose one, it was one she thought of herself, and she decided upon it partly because it sounded pretty but also partly because it sounded, when pronounced, like her rider's name, and then they would always be seen as a pair.
Over her three and a half years of training, she was rarely seen far from her rider, who was one of the only ones with whom she held long, willing and compelling discussions with on issues such as Erysa's home and how it might have changed, the politics back in Alagaësia, and many wordy riddles and problems that each came up with or picked up from others.
In the last six months, they've both finished their training, and are currently taking on expeditions back in Alagaësia to keep peace and act as delegates for the Riders, mainly based in the North of the continent, but with the occasional visit back to Kuasta.
RP sample: Kuasta really weren't expecting visitors. Especially not when no letters from Erysa had mentioned her finishing her training or beginning her role as a delegate and peacekeeper based roughly in the North, nowhere near their village. Sure enough, the shock and partial excitement from the villagers was astounding as the black, glistening dragon landed in the town square, with what appeared to be a human on its back. The rider - a female - unstrapped her legs from the saddle with practiced ease before climbing down her dragon's proffered foreleg. Upon her turning around, two of villagers cheered, her parents, and ran up to her, wrapping their arms around her tightly.
"We knew you'd come back!" Her mother muttered through her slight tears. Areisa chuckled, a deep throaty noise.
Of course. A good rider is not without a heart. Areisa said softly in her gentle voice, settling down on the ground. Though we cannot stay for long. Our duties call to us from the North and we must attend to them. Our close-to-four-years worth of training will not be for nothing. Both her mother and father nodded at this, ushering the girl inside and immediately offering food to both her and Areisa. Her father brought out a large basket of fish for the dragon, saying, "Thank you for keeping our daughter safe. We owe you many favours." The dragon then shook her head, accepting the fish.
I do not owe you anything. Your daughter has kept herself safe and, equally, watched over me in my times of stupidity, as much as I hate to admit it. I will gladly have some food, however, as the flight here was long and I am weary. Thank you.
