Hi! I have been noodling around the site for a bit and decided I wanted to try, but I've *never* done an honest RPG before (Flamefrost:legacy is the closest I've come). No, not even D&D. I get the general idea, but is there anything I should read besides The Rules Thread before starting to craft a character? I also feel rather silly, but... I couldn't find the thread for the open plot, just the overview. Help?  EDIT -- Okay, I figured this part out... I just didn't scroll down far enough.    Any advice on how to start is still very welcome, though!

Hey, welcome! I hope you enjoy it here! Beyond the rules and the plot, I would recommend you look up all the general threads under Character Creation before you make your own, especially the "Character Creation Form" and, if you want to make a Dragon Rider character, look at the "Dragon Rider Quiz" and send the answers to both "jeriah" and "admin" in a PM (those are Trinn and I.)
Beyond that, I also would recommend you browse both the character profiles and the old threads to get a real feel for how to play. You can do that whenever, even after you've made your characters.
For the purpose of understanding the plot (since it's original and based 16 years after the end of the series), I would definitely recommend you check out the character profile of the main villain, Katriana, played by yours truly.
Sorry if we're a bit slow at the moment. A lot of life things have been coming up lately, especially for the staff. I try to get on at least a couple of times a week to see how things are going and if there's anywhere I am needed or would like to participate. I'm hoping if we keep getting new members who stick around we can manage to liven the place up a bit again.

Thanks for the advice, and for pinning Katriana's sheet for me. There is obviously a lot of reading to do in order to get caught up on the history here. I found this place while binge-reading Inheritance after getting it back from a friend (a three year loan). I can't believe I had forgotten how scary Angela is!!! Once I get a handle on where this timeline diverged and how the previous plots interact with the subsequent canon, you can bet I'll be submitting a character app and joining a thread. Hopefully it won't take too long; I look forward to starting a new adventure!
