Character's Name: Tanner Jhiko
Character's Age: 19
Character's Attitude: Tanner is a kind-hearted, sophisticated guy. He wears his heart on his sleeve, giving it to anyone who is willing to take it. His oh-so charming smile is always on his face, boring itself into your skull to live there for the rest of eternity. He is usually engrossed in his thoughts, though he listens when you talk. He never questions, just does. He trusts everyone around him, unless they've seriously threatened him. His heart is like open arms, ready to hug you relentlessly until you're ready to walk on your own. When he talks, his smooth, glassy voice lulls you into a daze, but not anything like when he sings. When he does, it's like being pulled into a fantasy, all your troubles in reality slipping off your shoulders as you fly into the clouds.
Character's Race: Elf, though he looks like a human because his mother disguised his pointed ears from human eyes. He has not discovered his magical abilities yet.
Character's Appearance:
Height: 6'1
Eyes: Sapphire blue
Hair: Curly brown hair that rests just below his chin. When slicked back, he looks like a sophisticated governor like his father
Clothes: Most of the time just a plain tunic, varying color from day to day, with blackshorts and black baggy leggings, topped off with hard leather boots that stop mid-calf. When his father is showing him off, he wears a dark black suit.
Character's Allegiance: Neutral, but is leaning towards moving to the Varden's protection
Weapons: Tanner constantly has a dagger tucked in his boot. He always has a hand-and-a-half sword belted to his left waist. His sword's blade is a shimmery black and the hilt is a wired red. Tanner is an excellent swordsman, but is rather clumsy when under intense pressure.
Other Info: Tanner's father is one of the many governors for Teirm, so he is exposed to a lot of manipulation and forced charm which has shaped his personality into the way it is. Though Tanner's father desperately despises the Varden with all his heart, Tanner is a silent supporter of the rebels. If Tanner's father was to find out, Tanner would most likely be cast from the household and considerably, the whole family.
History: To Tanner, his past is quite different to his real history. He was told by his father that he was born and raised in Teirm and his mother died when he was very young. Because Tanner is quite gullible, he fully agreed to this and has lived his life peacefully and fully. Until a couple weeks after Tanner turned 19, his life was perfect. In the middle of the night, Tanner and his father got a desperate visitor banging at the door. The man was bloody and cut up very badly; so badly, he died later that night. In the man's bloody, cut fingers, was a worn letter; so worn, it was almost unreadable. Tanner had a few moments to look it over before his father ripped it from his hands and gave him an angry look. Tanner was then sent to his room and he never saw the letter again...until a few months later. He was snooping in his father's office, looking for something to spice up his day when he found the letter in a hidden compartment in his father's desk. He was too scared to read it right then in there, so he took it and hid it in his room, forgetting about it. A couple weeks later he was cleaning his room and found it once again. He finally opened it and scanned it for anything interesting. What he found was far more than interesting. It was his past.
Tanner was born in Ellesmera to two elves old in age. Tanner's mother was a beautiful elf, with midnight black hair and bright green eyes while Tanner's real father had moonlight silver hair and sapphire blue eyes. The two elves decided to sneak away with their child because they didn't want him wrenched away from their grasp by other elves (Tanner was a rare child because his parents were so old). So they snuck away from Du Weldenvarden in the middle of the night, the biggest mistake they would ever make. In the Hadarac Desert, they were attacked by bandits in great numbers, taking them down despite their magical abilities. One of the bandits was Tanner's "father", one of the Teirm governors, Leoni Jhiko. He adopted Tanner as his own child and brought the child up as his own, though he never knew of Tanner's real past, nor did he tell Tanner of how he wasn't even Tanner's real father.
This letter Tanner had found mentioned subjects about his past, confusing Tanner. It spoke of two elder elves, Zana and Rahani, having a child despite their years. The letter said that they, whoever "they" are, recognized Tanner as the child. Tanner had no idea who had sent the letter, but he had become enraged at his father, who not only lied to him his whole life, but locked away this letter that Tanner had every right to see. Tanner and his father's relationship is now very strained and is ready to break at the smallest disturbance.
Role-Play Sample: Tanner stepped out of the large wash basin and dried himself with a scratchy towel. He threw on his shorts and leggings, then threw a red tunic bordered with black fringe on the edges of the whole tunic. Tanner glanced at his sword that lay on the floor, then shook his head.
What trouble will there be when I'm not looking for it?
He smiled at himself in the mirror, then slicked back his curly brown hair. He smiled again, then slid a jacket on, slipping out of the house. Dim light crept over the ocean directly to his right, salty sea-air drifting around Tanner. He breathed it in through his nose, then took off down the street to his left, darting in and out of horse-drawn carriages and little children trying to stay out a little longer. His mind seemed to float into a void, for it left his body in a confused daze. His body kept running, a smile on it's face, while Tanner's mind floated into the darkening sky.
