Character's Name: Kell Staum
Character's Age: 16
Character's Attitude: Kell is an innocently ignorant young man. He's optimistic about everything and always sees the good side of people before the bad. He can be sweet and sensitive and also very obnoxious at times, but he always has a little of both in him. He has oddly interesting ways in which he stays true to about himself and is always noticing the little things most people don't. He's a true boy at heart just trying to make his way in the world with as much fun and adventure as possible.
Character's Race: Human
Character's Appearance: Kell is about 5'11 or so with long, curly brown hair that shapes around his face. He cuts it every time it gets to be past his chin, but it's always long. He has icy blue eyes, but not an icy hate. An icy young boy type. He has muscley arms and legs, but isn't super strong. He has tan skin from being in the sun so much, and most of the time has a smile on his face. He wears a red and black vest with a largish collar and no sleeves. He never wears a shirt with it, unless he's really cold. He wears shorts, then leggings tucked into his knee-high boots.
Character's Allegiance:Ismalia
Weapons: Kell carries only one sword: a hand-and-a-half black-steeled sword with a red wiring hilt in a dusty red sheath. He has a small (probably only about five inches) dagger in the folds of his vest and most of the time never uses it. He's also a very skilled magician
Other Info: He has a dragon! ;D
History: Kell was born in Ismalia in outskirts of Jumor. He was raised by only his father because his mother mysteriously disappeared when he was only a few months old, and he was raised a farm boy. He worked on his father's farm, one of the only places you could in the rivery city, and was basically very alone for his childhood. He had his father of course, but otherwise he had nobody but himself. He swam in the rivers alone, fished alone, worked in the fields alone, went on adventures alone, and was alone all the time. He soon grew used to this feeling and started to welcome it.
When Kell turned 14, his father seemed to all the sudden notice this and knew he had to do something about it, so he sent Kell away to school in the capital city of Freia, but not before giving him a medium-sized chest that he ordered Kell not to open until desperate need, or when he felt so alone he could not bear it any longer. He gave Kell the key and then Kell was gone, off to a school in Freia. Kell was at first frightened by all the sudden being surrounded by thousands of people, but soon was glad for the experience.
When he was 15, he was about to graduate the school. It had turned out that Kell was very skilled in the art of knowledge and he excelled at twice the normal rate as normal teenagers. He still only had few friends, but had many admirers. He was one to be admired. He had accomplished so many great tasks since coming to Freia, and many people, young and old, acknowledged this. He was almost like a celebrity, though he was still absorbed within his own thoughts. Though he was very much liked by a lot of people, he was also very much hated and had been threatened lots of times. He never really paid attention to any of them, but one stuck out, because it was about his mother. The threatener had sad, "I'm going to get you, Staum, just like I did your mother!" This, Kell felt, was a desperate need, and thus, opened the chest his father had given him almost a year and half before.
Inside the box was a scroll and a large black-red stone. The stone was indeed strange and in such a way Kell had never seen before. It had blood red veins that spread throughout the whole thing and they seemed to pulse every time he touched it. The egg appeared as black as night, but when moved around, it shone a redishly tinted black. This color Kell has never seen before, but he immediately began to love it. He marveled at the stone's beauty, but knew not of what to do with it. The scroll Kell would not have been able to read had it not been for his father sending him to school. The scroll told of a young couple that sought for adventure wherever they went and thus, stumbled across a land named Alagaesia. The land was full of both good and evil, but not more than the other. The land was distraught and in need of saving, and the couple felt they needed to help in some way. They traveled to the middle of the country and found the city of Uru'baen. From listening to gossip here and there they learned that there were multiple dragon eggs inside of the castle near the Spine and they decided it was their duty to steal one of the magnificent eggs and to bring it back to their homeland. Instead of only stealing one, they stole a large amount, four to be exact, and quickly fled back to Ismalia before being pursued by the Empire. One of the eggs, the one Kell now held in his grasp, had been kept in a very special place and had been even more guarded than the others. The woman of the couple figured out that this egg had been one of the only eggs the Empire king's dragon, Shruikan's, mate had laid, and thus had very special meaning. The couple kept this egg, because of it's great importance, then hid the other three eggs throughout the land of Alagaesia for any lucky Alagaesians to find. The egg they kept they named "Zahl of Liebe" or, "Arrow of Love" named for the love of the couple. The scroll told of how the couple finally settled down in Jumor and had a child, a boy, and then told of Kell's life. This was the most surprising to Kell, for he had not known he was part of a story. The scroll left off at where he left the farm in search of adventure in the world around him.
As Kell finished the scroll, he finally understood his importance in the world. His parents had saved the land of Alagaesia at least a little pain and he was happy that he was a part of this great legacy. A couple days after reading and pondering the scroll, the stone, which Kell figured was the dragon egg the scroll talked of, hatched. Kell, of course with his overpowering curiosity, touched the egg and thus bears the mark of the dragon. He ran away with the hatchling and hid in the forests of Ismalia until the dragon grew to be seven months old. Before Kell left the school in Freia, he shortened the name of the egg to Zahl, in which he named the dragon. He also sent a letter to his father telling him of his plans of going to Alagaesia with Zahl to help rid the land of evil. A few months after Kell turned 16, he and Zahl left in search of Alagaesia. A few weeks after they started, they stumbled across the edge of the Spine, and then soon the ruins of Carvahall. They are still discovering the world of Alagaesia, one tree at a time.
Role-Play Sample: Kell awoke with a start underneath the velvety blood black wings of Zahl. Thumping his head against Zahl's underside, he felt Zahl arise as well.
What is it, little one?
Kell blinked a couple times, blinking away the sleep from his eyes, then answered, hearing the sound of rough voices.
That.
Zahl quickly raised his wing, then got to his feet. Kell did the same, except the wing part. He drew his sword, then laid himself out on the ground, hiding from whoever was coming.
Zahl, go, I don't want them to see you.
He heard Zahl growl slightly, then back into the thick of the forest, fading into the shadows.
"You there! Boy on the ground! Get up!"
Kell grimaced. He wasn't all that great at camouflage.
