Character's name: Turreck
Character's attitude: 36
Character's Race: Shade
Character's appearance: Turreck is tall and thin with a fall of greasy black hair and dark brown eyes. His face is angular and snakelike, his mouth thin and his ears slightly pointed. Some of his appearance was caused through his own manipulations. He always wears a red cape and silver chest plate over clothes which are usually black, or otherwise dark in color.
Character's allegiance: Empire
Weapons: Turreck revels in the blade. He cares not for the subtle intricacies of the words of death. When he turns to magic it is rarely to great effect but more so for the appearance of grandeur.
Other Info: Turreck, although he was once a respectable solider, has since been driven insane by the spirits that tore his mind apart. He is a shade, but in a strange way, reckless and boastful. Additionally, after losing his sanity, he has become increasingly sadistic and paranoid. Since he does not use magic often for offensive means, he regularly puts his spare energy into the nexus of wards which he has been building for some time since his paranoia heightened. Although he serves the empire he is often taken by his own, strange and disturbing, fantasies and is often allowed leave. Whether or not he is on a mission he is surely to spread fear and death wherever he goes. He has no other goals but to torment the living, and as a powerful soldier of the empire, he fulfills many of his goals.
History: Turreck, born Drekar, had a family that was pious to the empire. They lived in Uru’baen, paid their taxes, and taught him the importance of the empire’s military might. When he was of age Drekar willingly joined the empires ranks and through prowess and obedience rose quickly in power. Before some great battle in which the commander had made a fatal blunder, it was decided that they could not win. One of the spell casters from the ranks however said otherwise. The man detailed a plan in which they would turn one of their own into a shade and then win the day. No one stepped forwards to volunteer for such a ghastly fate, so Drekar did. He was driven by nobility, courage and duty to help however he could to make sure the empire prevailed.
No one survived that battle. When the spirits came rushing into Drekar’s body, one in particular, Turreck, went wild with such a joy of freedom and manic bloodlust that his energy and desire to cause pain were endless. The spirits had destroyed Drekar’s mind in the process, and Turreck remained in the mortal world to control their powers within the soldier’s body. He sensed there was profit to be had by returning to the empire and there his allegiance has remained.
Role Play Sample:
“You have cost my forces dearly, Shade.”
Turreck smiled. “Your blunder would have seen them killed anyways, while you stood back and directed their demise.”
“You cost me a damn fine soldier as well.”
“Cost is a poor term to use, I have improved this body beyond that of any soldier you possess. You say he was a fine soldier, you mean he was obedient. I have the power if you are willing to listen to my terms.”
“Terms? You just killed a skirmish of eighty strong men!”
“And eighty more enemies. Show me the way to your king and I can assure you, I will be welcomed with open arms.”
“You’re a monster, not an ally.”
“Have you been fighting in this war? You lack the ambition and vision that many of the other commanders have, and for that I thank you, it has brought me into existence. I fear however, that was the last of your usefulness.”
Turreck, though his calm demeanor did not break, launched into the commander’s mind and wrenched it from his body, it was a single fell and powerful swoop that met no resistance. Turreck filtered through the memories until the images of Uru’baen came to him. He seemed to remember the place from some time long ago. Discarding the mind to the abyss where such things go, Turreck stepped over the corpse and walked towards the citadel where he would be able to let loose his terror upon any he wished and be rewarded for it. All the while plans of his future flitted through the empty madness within him. He had grand plans, but first he had to work.
Actually gave him a little bit of a past, doesn't matter a whole lot since he destroyed it all but you gotta love the dramatic irony.
