"No one ever thinks or believes they will see war in their life times. Our ancestors fought a war that lasted eons. The war against thread. But it has been thousands of turns since that menace has threatened our beloved Pern. Instead we now face a new menace. One that is in the shape of our own dragonrider siblings. In a way I can see their point, but Pern must not be put in harms way again. Not after all the ancient dragonriders of old did to make it safe. These steam machines and other nuisances are only going to harm Pern, not help it. Sure some of the things make life easier, but is it really worth it? I think not. Now we fight, the Dryuians against the Advancers. The new versus the old. Strangely enough it is us new color riders that are fighting for the old ways. I pray this war will end soon. Especially now that my queen is heavy with egg. What kind of future are they coming into? We can only strive to make it a bright, clean, pure future."
"Things have become quiet, too quiet it seems. It is probably the best for right now with the senior gold being heavy with egg. I am anxious, however to get this battle underway again. The sooner one of us wins the sooner this ridiculous war will end. I just don't understand those dratted Dryuians. Why can't they just come to reason and see that what us Advancers want is to make Pern better. For thousands of turns our great ancestors had to go without the comforts they could have have all because their time was spent fighting thread. Well, that menance has been gone for a long time now. We should be able to create the Pern that was first invisioned when the Settlers first came to this planet. Unfortunately them and their tree loving dragons will not understand and proclaim we are harming the planet as much as thread had. Unlikely, indeed. If only we could make them see, if only... Oh well. I guess we wait and then when the time is right we will crush them. A sad fate it is, but it is the only way I'm afraid."
