History: Melantha was born to Neona and Solaris, she grew up within the empire. Her parents were aware of Gallbatorix atrocities but unfortunately where too tightly bound and unable to escape for many years. Neona had been one of the empires most respected magicians before the birth of her daughter and Solaris had served as what she had been told as one of Gallbatorix soldiers up until it had become apparent that he lost his mind. Only in latter years did she find out her farther had been a rider and his dragon had died a few days before she was born killed on Gallbatorix's orders.
It was routine that once a month children living in Urû'baen would touch the dragon eggs Galbatorix had colected in order to create more dragon riders under his control. The first time Melantha went to the event changed her life. There were many speculations that because the egg was black the rider would be as horrible and soulless as Morazán or even Galbatorix himself.
Melantha and Andromeda spent two years in training repulsed by the other riders and their dragons actions.
Training was tough, the other riders and trainers picked on them and beat them up.
Melantha excelled with magic but her swordsmanship was far bellow average. Most swords were unbalanced, too long and two heavy which didn't help the situation.
One day she was told she had to go alone to Terim on a mission that would prove her alliance with the empire. On arrival she learnt that the mission was to kill a spy that was sending supplies to the Varden. Instead of completing the mission she helped the family escape not wanting innocent blood on her hands. Soon after the Empire learnt of what she had done and imprisoned her in Gil'ead while enforcing further separation from Andromeda.
After much deliberation and protest from her mother the Council decided that she was to be sentenced to 35 lashes.
After a month of recovery her mother planned an escape. Melatha's true name had changed when she decided to help the family flee to Surda so she was able to do leave but unfortunately her mother and farther where still bound. She was forced to leave with Andromeda while her mother and farther held off the soldiers and magicians that tried to stop them.
Melantha and Andromeda fought their way across the land until they reached the Varden.

After Galbatorix's defeat Melantha and Andromeda find themselves stuck at the site of the old Varden camp waiting for a sign of their lost loves survival. Before the the last battle a Seth, a good friend and fellow Rider preposes to her with promise of marriage after the war.
Unfortunately He and his dragon go missing during the fight, falling into an abandoned tunnel system under the city.
After weeks of torturous waiting they are reunited and soon after are married.
The four of them travel around the land with friends on almost care free adventures and helping who ever is in need and enjoying war free life.
Soon they return home tired and ready to settle down for a while. Things go quite smoothly until Melantha and Seth decided they want to start a family. They try many times to conceive a child but it dose not prove an easy feat. Even after seeking the aid of magic Melantha cannot seem to carry a child long enough for the Baby to grow into maturity. Tired and defeated they try one last time, not taking any chances this time they seeking the aid of the elves.
Seth and Melantha as well as Dragons Abaddon and Andromeda travel toward the elfin city of Osilon. But before they can reach the city Melantha goes into labour two months early on the edge of Du Weldenvarden forest. A team of elves manage to reach them in time and find a way to keep the baby alive after several birth complications.
They Named the Baby Dubhan and spent the first few months living with the elves until both Melantha and the baby were strong enough to survive with out magical help.
They all moved to Seth’s old village in the Spine where Seth had built a cottage on the outskirts of the village with enough room for both Andromeda and Abaddon to graze.
They lived a mostly quiet life in the next few years travelling occasionally to see family and old friends while raising their son.
Or at least until they received word of the New threat that plagued the land.

Role Play Sample:
Andromeda was about to rouse her sleeping rider when she spotted Abaddon coming in for landing. She carefully backed her self between Melantha’s tent and its neighbour to make room. It would be a tight fit for two dragons but they were use to it. In actual fact she was sure the Dragons of the Varden had the best landing and taking off skills due to the fact they were forever landing and taking off from in-between tents. As the days went by the incidents of dragons accidentally landing on or knocking over tents had decreased to less than once a fortnight.
‘Good morning’ she greeted Seth and Abaddon with a over cheerful roar. She could feel the nerves of the whole Varden in the air building, something needed to be done to lift the spirits of the solider before the battle otherwise it could cost them the whole war.
Andromeda looked at Seth curiously something about him seemed strange. He walked strait past her with out greeting strait to Melantha’s tent. She looked to Abaddon quizzically for a answer or some sort of clue as to what was going on but nothing. ‘She is still asleep i'll wake her up for you.’
Andromeda cast her mind into the mind of her riders and as gently as she could ‘Mel wake up, Mel we are going to be late’ she kept pushing until she got a conscious response.
Cosy and warm inside her tent under her warm blankets in her comfortable bed Melantha finally stirred rolling over in her cot. She woke with the voice of Andromeda in her head, soon the words became comprehendible. Jumping out of bed She dressed throwing on the clothes she was to wear under the pieces of metal armour.
She was running late for breakfast which will make her late for forming up ranks with the other riders and soldiers.
By the time she was fully dressed and groomed with her sword on her hip she was sure the rest of the army was already eating an early breakfast and heading out to the camp to form up ranks.
Melantha bolted out of her tent dressed in a mixture of leather and metal armour. The combination made custom for her needs, light weight flexible but still protecting the major organs from attacks that may have passed her magical shields.
Not looking as she bolted out of the tent opening she ran strait into Seth who stood at the tent opening. “Seth!” she exclaimed as the sound of her metal breast plate colliding with his armour rang out. Dazed for second she backed off rubbing the side of her forehead which she bumped on seth black armour.
“I’m so sorry, did I hurt you?” she said apologetically as she watched him drop to one knee. Melantha looked at him upset with herself for almost knocking him over. "Are you okay?" She asked as she tried to determine why he was on one knee but her mind was drawn back to her previous conclusion. he was hurt?
What he said in response had her frozen in place, her heart pounded out of her chest as she stared at Seth’s face, in particular his bright blue eyes.
Her mind tried to comprehend his words but her mind couldn't begin to process what he was saying. With each echo of his words she began to confirm their meaning. Her heart made a soft fluttery noise as it sped up.
Not knowing what to say and do she blinked to make sure Seth was still there kneeling in front of her and that she wasn’t still dreaming perhaps hallucination was a side effect from the draught she had taken.
Everything Seth had said had taken her completely by surprise most of it was a muddy blur but the one thing that she was sure, He was asking for her hand in marriage but even then she hesitated because she couldn't believe her ears.
Andromeda watched the exchange as confused as Melantha. She looked from Seth to Abaddon to Melantha. There was pause of silence between the two. ‘Are you alright? Say something.’ She said urging her rider to respond.
The tension in the air that had hung between Melantha and Seth evaporated like water naked to the Hardac desert. She was relived for the two of them that Seth had finally found the courage.
Melantha glanced over to Andromeda momentarily before her eyes rested on Seth as she began to cry. Her tears not of sadness but of joy.
“Seth, I..... I will.” she cried out, Her emotions that had been building for months had finally been set free. All the thoughts and feelings that kept her up at night that stopped her from sleeping and sometimes from eating had eased away.
“When I was ready to crack you were there to keep me sane, You constantly reminded me why we do what we do as riders, why we are fighting and who we are fighting for. I’m no longer afraid to fight because I know you have my back and I can actually swing a sword to save my life. Thanks to you.” She added with a laugh as tears continued to streaming down her face.
Wiping her eyes he continued “You have helped me more than you or i even know and for that and a great deal more, I love you and no diamond would determine the end of the feelings I have when you are around or in my thoughts.” She didn’t know where the words where coming from they seemed to just flow out from her as if each word was carefully crafted by a bard.
Andromeda had a tear in her eye. ‘finally’ she thought to her self, ‘she realises what I have been telling her for months.’ She was overjoyed for her riders happiness. And it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Melantha shot Andromeda a sheepish grin knowing the dragon had been right for a very long time about her feelings for Seth, but she didn’t like to admit it. Especially since the acknowledgment would give Andromeda a big head on top of the one she had already. She smiled at Seth waiting for a response, she was prepared to wait an eternity.
